고속철도의 터널입구 형상변황에 따른 압력파동 현상에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Study on the Effects of Pressure Wave Propagation for Tunnel Entrance Shape Change in High-Speed Railways)

  • When a front head of train enters a tunnel at a high speed, compression wave is generated at tunnel entrance due to the confinement effect and propagated along the tunnel with sound of speed. The propagated compression wave is reflected at tunnel exit due to abrupt pressure change at passage. The reflected wave is expansion pressure wave. And when the rear head of train goes through the tunnel entrance, another expansion pressure wave is generated and propagated along the tunnel. The pressure drop occurs seriously around train when the two expansion pressure waves come cross on train in the tunnel. In order to reduce the pressure drop, the compression wave front must be controlled because the intensity and magnitude of pressure drop is nearly proportional to that of compression wave at tunnel entrance. This study relates to reduction of the pressure wave gradient with respect to tunnel entrance shape change with various kind of angle and rounding. The results show characteristics of wave propagation in tunnel, usefulness of characteristic curve to estimate proper time domain size in numerical study and measuring time in actual experiment. Also rounding is contributed to improve pressure wave front even if its radius is very small at tunnel entrance. In order to improve of pressure wave front at tunnel entrance, proper angle is prefered to rounding with big radius and an angle of around 14$^{\circ}$ is recommended according to this simulations, And it is expected to reduce additional pressure drop in tunnel when the location and the size of the internal space for attendant equipment are considered in advance.

입자상물질과 Ash양이 디젤매연여과장치 내의 배압 및 유동균일도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Particulate Matter and Ash Amount on Pressure Drop and Flow Uniformity of Diesel Particulate Filter Reduction System)

  • 최근 미세먼지 증가로 인하여 디젤엔진의 배출 규제가 강화됨에 따라 디젤 매연여과장치에 관심이 급증하게 되었으며, 특히 디젤 배기가스 후처리 장치의 고효율화에 대한 기술개발이 더욱 요구되고 있다. 이에 대한 일환으로서 디젤매연여과장치(diesel particulate filter, DPF) 내 배기가스의 유동 균일도를 향상시키고 배압을 낮추어서 배기가스처리 효율을 높이는 연구가 많이 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 ANSYS Fluent를 이용하여 직경 12"의 DPF와 디젤산화촉매(diesel oxidation catalyst, DOC)를 장착한 디젤 매연여과장치에서의 배기가스의 유속과 온도, DPF IO ratio, Ash와 PM양에 따른 배압에 미치는 영향을 시뮬레이션 하여 배압을 낮추는 최적화 연구를 하였다. 결과로서 배기가스의 온도와 유속이 낮을수록 배압이 낮아졌으며, PM양이 Ash양보다 배압에 더 큰 영향을 주는 것으로 나타냈다. 또한 비대칭 DPF가 대칭 DPF에 비해 배압이 더 낮게 나타냈으나, 유동 균일도의 경우는 다양한 변수에 관계없이 일정하게 나타냈다. european stationary cycle (ESC), european transient cycle (ETC) 조건에서 PM의 정화효율은 비대칭, 대칭 DPF 관계없이 유사하나, particle number (PN)의 정화효율에서는 비대칭 DPF가 대칭 DPF에 비해 높게 나타냈다.

  • Drag reduction in polymer solutions is the phenomenon where by extremely dilute solutions of high molecular weight polymers exhibit frictional resistance to flow much lower than the pure solvent. This effect, largely unexplained as yet, has attracted the attention of polymer scientists and fluid flow specialists. Although applications are beginning to appear, the principle interest to data has been in attempting to relate the effect to the fluid mechanics of turbulent flow. Drag reduction in two phase flow can be applied to the transport of crude oil, phase change system such as chemical reactor, and pool and boiling flow. But the research on drag reduction in two phase flow is not intensively investigated. Therefore, experimental investigations have been carried out to analyze the drag reduction produced by polymer addition in the single phase and two phase flow system. The objectives of the proposed investigation are primarily in identifying and developing high performance polymer additives for fluid transportations with the benefits of turbulent drag. Also we want to is to evaluate the drag reduction in horizontal flow by measuring pressure drop and mean velocity. Experimental results show higher drag reduction using co - polymer(A611P) then using polyacrylamide (PAAM) and faster degradation using PAAM than using A611P under the same superficial velocity.

시스템내 발생하는 캐비테이션 저감방법에 관한 연구 (Study on the Reduction Method of Occurred Cavitation in a System)

  • Two phenomena often encountered in liquid flow, which were completely absent in gas or vapor flow, were cavitation and flashing. These phenomena were of significant interest in any comprehensive discussion of control valves or contracted devices since their occurrence would affect the device sizing procedures, might introduce noise and vibration, and also may limit the life expectancy of device components and the immediate downstream piping. Thus, this study aimed to find the reduction method of occurred cavitation in system by the computer simulation. A derivative six model with different dimensions of cavity were adopted. From the results, it was found that the length of the cavity was mote important factor to reduce the pressure drop over the control valves or contracted devices than the depth of the cavity. And the pressures along the centerline of the contracted devices were dropped two times in the case of haying the large length (Lc=1.5D) of cavity.

  • The test facility has been manufactured to predict the dynamic insertion loss and the pressure drop for ducted silencers based on ISO 7235. The qualification test of the test facility is necessary for determining the dynamic insertion loss and the pressure drop of the test silencer, and is surveyed the reflection coefficient for an anechoic termination, the velocity profile near the upstream connection to the test silencer, the reduction of the system silencer and the limiting insertion loss due to the flanking sound transmission along the duct walls.

각초 수분이 궐련의 끝빠짐에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Moisture Contents of Cut Tobaccos on Loose End of Cigarettes)

  • In this work, we studied the effects of the moisture contents of cut tobacco on loose end of cigarettes. The loose end of the cigarette groups decreased with the increase of moisture contents of the cut tobacco and especially the loose end of A and C groups decreased to $31\%\;and\;52\%$ with the increase of $1\%$ moisture contents. $A-13.5\%\;and\;B-14.0\%\;and\; C-14.0\%$ moisture samples showed the increase of the weight ratio of cut tobacco over 1.4mm cut length but the decrease under 1.4mm cut length. We concluded that the main reasons were regarded to reduction of small fragment tobaccos caused by increase of moisture contents and exception of air-suction transport of tobaccos to cigarette making machine. In spite of the moisture increase of cut tobaccos under fixed EPD(encapsulated pressure drop), the hardness of Band C sample groups were maintained constantly except A group. This result means that under fixed EPD, the weight of cut tobacco in cigarette rods increases to compensate the reduction of pressure drop by moisture increase of cut tobaccos.

  • It is well known that drag reduction in single phase liquid flow is affected by polymer material, molecular weight, polymer concentration, pipe diameter, and flow velocity. Drag reduction in two phase flow can be applied to the transport of crude oil, phase change system such as chemical reactor, pool and boiling flow, and to present cavitation which occurs in pump impellers. But the research of drag reduction in two phase flow is not sufficient. The purpose of the present work is to evaluate the drag reduction by measuring pressure drop, void fraction whether polymer is added in the horizontal two phase system or not. Experiment has been conducted in a test section with 24 m of the inner diameter and 1,500 mm of the length. The used polymer materials are two kinds of polyacrylamide[PAAM] and co-polymer[A611P]. The polymer concentration was varied with 50, 100 and 200 ppm under the same experimental conditions. Experimental results were shown that the drag is higher reduced by co-polymer rather than polyanylamide.

  • This paper is an experimental study on the performance characteristic with a variation of capillary diameter and length. The performance characteristic of a refrigeration system is predicted that it is occurring changes of flow pattern and pressure drop in a capillary tube because of reduction of capillary diameter 0.74 to 0.6 mm. The difference between experimental results and analytical results is mainly caused by values of friction factor for using to calculate pressure drop through a small diameter capillary tube under 0.74mm. The experimental equation is derived from capillary tube test data using curve fitting method.

  • Fin-tube heat exchangers are widely used in refrigeration systems. To improve the performance of fin-tube heat exchangers, the shape of plain fin was developed in slit fin and louver fin. These pins have higher heat transfer performance as well as larger pressure drop. Recent studies of a delta winglet vortex generators(DWVG) show less heat transfer capacity than louver fin. However, the DWVG have very small pressure drop. This paper compares the performance for the plain fin and DWVG fin in terms of flow characteristics and heat transfer based on CFD analyses. The DWVG generate vortex and delayed flow separation and leads to a reduction of a wake region behind a tube. The results show that the DWVG produce improved heat transfer and reduced pressure drop compared to a plain fin. This result is opposite to the Reynolds analogy.

방전극 형상 및 여과재에 따른 정전 여과집진장치특성에 관한 연구 (Investigation of Characteristics of Electrostatic Bag Filter with Discharge Electrode Shapes and Filter Properties)

  • In this study, the characteristics of electrostatic bag filter to overcome the main problems such as the high pressure drop and low collection efficiency for submicron particles are investigated with the experimental parameters. Especially, the experiment is carried out focusing on collection efficiency and pressure drop change mechanism as a function of discharge electrode shapes and filter properties, including the applied voltages, filtration velocities and particle concentrations, etc . Results show that the collection efficiency is improved over 30% for the fine particle below 1 pm and pressure drop reduction ratio (PDRR) increases in the following order 4 mm screwy > 4 mm square > 4mm round discharge electrodes . For the filter properties, Nomex is more effective than PE under the influence of electrostatic force. Applying 30 kV for a screwy discharge electrode, higher overall collection efficiency is maintained in spite of the increment of filtration velocity over four times (8 m/min) in comparison with that of 2 m/min and PDRR are highly shown over 80o1o with various filtration velocities, 5, 8, 11 m/min.
