The safety of a structure can be improved by applying the three dimensional passive earth pressure. Because the three dimensional passive earth pressure is much larger than the two dimensional passive earth pressure and it is determined by the size(width B and height H) and the wall frictional angle of the resistant wall. Therefore, the three dimensional passive resistance behavior was studied through the model tests in sandy ground, where the size of the resistant wall and the wall frictional angle were varied. The results show that three dimensional passive earth pressure is 1.1∼3.4 times larger than that of the two dimensional value depending on the wall size and the wall friction.

Effects of compacting pressure on the electrical and sintering characteristics of Cu25Cr contact material have been investigated. Cu25Cr contact materials were prepared by solid and liquid-phase sintering methods varying compacting pressure. Influence of compacting pressure on electrical characteristics were investigated in the cylindrical stainless-steel vessel using L-C resonant circuit. The physical and electrical properties of solid-phase sintered Cu25Cr material were found to be improved by increased compacting pressure. On the other hand, it was found that compacting pressure had little influence in case of liquid-phase sintered Cu25Cr material. After conditioning, contact resistance of Cu25Cr material was decreased regardless of compacting pressure. With increased compacting pressure, interrupting ability was shown to be increased.

This study reports on the pressure relief design and braided composite of surge arrester. Surge arresters with porcelain housing must not have explosive breakage of the housing to minimize damage to other equipment when subjected to internal high short circuit current. As a solution, this study describes pressure relief design performance of arresters with braided composite module. In general, braided composite has Potential for improved impact and delamination resistance. Manufacturing processes of the braided composite could also be automated and could potentially lead to lower costs. Therefore, in consideration of characteristics of pressure relief for polymer arrester, the fabric pattern of braided composite was decided. And Polymer arrester module was manufactured with braid. The mechanisms of pressure occurrence and relief were investigated basically by analyzing arc energy and the correlation between thermal shock and indoor pressure in pressure relief test.

Contact resistance variation which may be called sliding noise in carbon film variable resistors whose resistance elements consists of linear resistivity distribution were measured with several kinds of sliders and were analyzed to reduce the contact resistance variation. About the measuring method, the standard method of measuring contact resistance variation specified by the variable Resistance Components Institute was adupted. By analyzing the experimental results, it has been shown that the primary cause of contact resistance variation is due to current constriction and small discharge sparks in the resistance film in the area close to the slide contact. Moreover, it has been found that the sliding noise would be reduced by increasing the number of contact points, sliding speed, and pressure, and by using some kinds of insulation oil on the contacting surface. High contact resistance variation is likely to occur in the area of high resistance variation in a logrithmic resistance taper.

Furnace is currently the most important doping process using POCl3 in solar cell. However furnace need an expensive equipment cost and it has to purge a poisonous gas. Moreover, furnace typically difficult appling for selective emitters. In this study, we developed a new atmospheric pressure plasma source, in this procedure, we research the atmospheric pressure plasma doping that dopant is phosphoric acid($H_3PO_4$). Metal tube injected Ar gas was inputted 5 kV of a low frequency(scores of kHz) induced inverter, so plasma discharged at metal tube. We used the P type silicon wafer of solar cell. We regulated phosphoric acid($H_3PO_4$) concentration on 10% and plasma treatment time is 90 s, 150 s, we experiment that plasma current is 70 mA. We check the doping depth that 287 nm at 90 s and 621 nm at 150 s. We analysis and measurement the doping profile by using SIMS(Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy). We calculate and grasp the sheet resistance using conventional sheet resistance formula, so there are 240 Ohm/sq at 90 s and 212 Ohm/sq at 150 s. We analysis oxygen and nitrogen profile of concentration compared with furnace to check the doped defect of atmosphere.
Surface layer properties such as composition, phase, hardness, and oxide layer condition are very important if the main failure mechanism of metals is wear. Generally, stable and dense oxide layers are known to decrease the wear rate of metals by prohibition of metallic junction occurred between bare metals. Addition of Si above 4 wt% to DCI(Ductile Cast Iron) is reported to enhance the significant oxidation resistance by forming the silicon-rich surface layer which inhibits further oxidation. And addition of up to 2 wt% Mo to high Si ductile iron produces significant increases in high temperature tensile strength, creep strength, thermal fatigue resistance and oxidation resistance. High pressure wear characteristics of unalloyed DCI(Ductile cast Iron), 4.46 wt% Si ductile iron, 4.3 wt% Si-0.52 wt% Mo ductile iron were investigated through unlubricated pin-on-disc wear test. Wear test was carried out at speed of 23m/min, under pressure of 3 MPa and 3.3 MPa. Wear surfaces of each specimen were observed by SEM to determine the wear mechanism under high pressure wear condition. Addition of Si 4.46 wt% severely deteriorated wear property of ductile iron compared to unalloyed DCI. But combined addition of Si 4.3 wt%andMo0.52wt%decreasedthefrictioncoefficient(${\mu}$)ofductileironsandremarkablydelayedthemild-severeweartransition.

A series of field tests were performed to investigate the behavior of jacket anchor and to evaluate the ultimate bond stress of jacket anchor. From twelve sets of field tests on the jacket anchor and general type ground anchor, it was observed that the pullout resistance of jacket anchor is significantly larger than that of the ground anchor and that the plastic deformation of jacket anchor is significantly smaller than that of general ground anchor at the same loading cycle. Especially in gravel layers, the jacket anchor provides more than 250% increase in ultimate resistance and more than 600% reduction in plastic deformation, compared with the general ground anchor. Finally, the relationship between the injection pressure and overburden pressure is proposed to determine the optimum injection pressure, based on additional field test results.

Acetic acid and acetonitrile produced in the chemical process of petrochemical plants are used at high temperatures and pressures. They are exposed to harsh corrosive environments. The present investigation aimed to evaluate corrosion characteristics of metals with excellent corrosion resistance by performing immersion and electrochemical experiments with different composition ratios of acetic acid and acetonitrile in a high-temperature and high-pressure environment. Results of immersion experiment revealed that as acetic acid concentration increased, surface damage and corrosion also increased. In immersion experiments under all conditions, super austenitic stainless steel (UNS N08367) had the best corrosion resistance among various metals. The maximum damage depth under the most severe immersion conditions was observed to be 4.19 ㎛, which was approximately 25.25 ㎛ smaller than that of highly damaged stainless steel (UNS S31804). As a result of electrochemical experiments, electrochemical characteristics of various metals presented some differences with different composition ratios of acetic acid and acetonitrile. However, super austenitic stainless steel (UNS N08367) had the best corrosion resistance at a high pressure condition with a high concentration of acetic acid.

Penetration resistance of bucket foundations with skirt wall in the silty sand of the western coast of Korea was analyzed by centrifuge modelling. The penetration resistance is induced when the bucket foundations are jacked into the soil without suction, and is directly related to the self-weight penetration depth. The procedure by Houlsby and Byrne (2005), which takes into account the effect of stress increase by frictional resistance of skirt wall, was utilized to generate the penetration resistance similar to the experimental results. This paper describes the methods by which major parameters such as lateral earth pressure coefficient and friction angle between the skirt wall and the soil are evaluated. The effect of changes in these parameters on the predictions is analyzed. Also, observed soil behaviour during jacking penetration is investigated.
Zinc deficiency is known to be associated with insulin resistance in obese individuals. This study was performed to evaluate the effect of zinc supplementation on insulin resistance and metabolic risk factors in obese Korean women. Forty obese women (body mass index (BMI) ${\geq}25kg/m^2$) aged 19-28 years were recruited for this study. Twenty women of the study group took 30 mg/day of supplemental zinc as zinc gluconate for 8 weeks and 20 women of control group took placebo. Usual dietary zinc intake was estimated from 3-day diet records. Insulin resistances were measured using Homeostasis model assessment (HOMA) indices, and insulin sensitivities Matsuda indices, which were calculated using oral glucose tolerance test data. Metabolic risk factors, such as waist circumference, blood pressure, fasting glucose, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, and adipocyte hormones such as leptin, and adiponectin were also measured. At the beginning of study, dietary zinc averaged 7.31 mg/day and serum zinc averaged $12.98{\mu}mol/L$ in the study group. Zinc supplementation increased serum zinc by 15% and urinary zinc by 56% (P < 0.05). HOMA values tended to decrease and insulin sensitivity increased slightly in the study group, but not significantly so. BMI, waist circumference, blood pressure, blood glucose, triglyceride, HDL cholesterol, and adipocyte hormones did not change in either the study or control group. These results suggest that zinc status may not affect insulin resistance and metabolic risk factors in obese Korean women. Further research is required on a larger cohort with a longer follow-up to determine the effects of zinc status on insulin resistance and metabolic variables.
