An understanding of the cooling requirements of horticultural commodities begins with adequate knowledge of their biological responses. All fresh horticultural products are living organisms, carrying on the many biological processes that are essential to the maintenance of life. The pre-cooling is essential technique for the construction of cold chain system, which is necessary to maintain marketing quality of fresh produces during the transportation and distribution. The purpose of this study is to develop the pressure cooling tunnel using conveyer for the reduction of labor and improvement of pre-cooling efficiency. Performance of developed facility was tested for the strawberries, tomatoes and Chinese cabbages. Cooling ratio as a result of pre-cooling efficiency was 1.57, 1.56 and 1.32 for strawberries, tomatoes, and Chinese cabbages respectively. Cooling ratio decreased with increasing the distance of heat conduction from surface to center. The cooling ratio of Chinese cabbages was lower than that of fruit because of its head and leaf. In aspect of cooling uniformity, there was no significant difference of final temperature among inlet, outlet and middle layers of cold air in fresh produces. After pre-cooling treatment, quality changes were measured for the weight loss, Vit. C content, and titratable acidity. The quality of pre-cooling treatment was better than that of non-treatment and was kept on well during long-term storage.
Numerous variables affect product cooling rate of pressure cooling system for fruits and vegetables. These include carton vent area, initial and desired final product temperature, flow rate and temperature of the cooling air, product size, shape and thermal properties and product configuration(whether in bulk or packed in shipping cartons). This study was carried out to determine the influence of each of these variables as they affect cooling time. The opening ratio and number of the vent hole were recomended as 4∼10% and 2∼4ea., respectively, for a minimum alt flow resistance and for a uniform air flow pattern. In the cooling experiment for tomatoes and mandarins, optimum air flow rate was 0.04 m3/min.kg in terms of energy saving. The cooling air temperature should be about 2$^{\circ}C$ less than the desired final product temperature for reducing cooling time.

This study is a research to compare efficiency of new cooling system (chiller, pre-cooler) to that of the conventional system at the hydrogen refueling station (HRS). This study includes contents for thermodynamic comparison of cooling system for HRS and comparison of pros and cons of its components. So It is to establish design concept of cooling system of HRS supplying with fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). HRS is charging high pressure H2 (700 bar) to FCEV. However cooling system is need to prevent temperature rise in tank. This cooling system consists of pre-cooler and chiller system.
In this paper the ultimate strength of the R/C cooling towers, which have initial imperfection and pre-cracked elements, is analyzed. The initial geometric imperfections arise from the unavoidable inaccuracies under the construction and the pre-cracks are assumed to be produced by the temperature stress gradients or cyclic loading under wind pressure and/or earthquake load. Both effects are strongly influenced on the strength of the R/C cooling tower shell structures. The reinforcing ratio is also the important factor to evaluate the ultimate strength of the R/C cooling tower shells. However we could not analyze these structures experimentally because of their large, analyses are the powerful schemes to evaluate the safety and reliability of these structures. The analyzed model is Port Gibson cooling tower shell. In the numerical analysis the geometric and material nonlinearities are taken into account.
Advanced Pressurized Reactor 1400(APR1400), which is a standard evolutionary advanced light water reactor(ALWR), has been developed from 1992 as one of long-term Government Project(G-7). The APR-1400 is designed to operate at the rated output of 4000MWt to produce an electric power output of around 1450MWe. Due to the increased electric power, In Nuclear Power plant huge quantities of heat are generated in the thermo-dynamic process used for producing electrical energy. So, There is considerationly additional cooling, Heat transfer area and increased cooling water of Heat Exchanger which take care of the different smaller cooling duties within the nuclear power plant. We review applying to PRE instead of Shell-and-Tube Heat exchanger. In this paper, we describe the major design features of PRE, Comparison between a PHE and a Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchanger, and then Applicability of Plate Heat Exchanger in Nuclear Power Plant Component Cooling water systems.

In this study, the experimental investigation and theoretical analysis were conducted to verify the cooling capacity of the cryocooler used for pre-cooling of hydrogen gas. The effect of the flow rate on a copper pipe attached to the bottom of the cryocooler, which has a coil shape in a hydrogen line, was investigated. Temperature sensors were strategically placed at various positions on the cryocooler to analyze the temperature variations with respect to the flow rate. In this study, the thermal properties of hydrogen for the pressure and temperature were utilized using REFPROP to analyze the cooling capacity of the cryocooler. Based on the experimental results derived from this study, the cooling capacity of the cryocooler for pre-cooling hydrogen gas was considered by calculating the cooling temperature according to the flow rate through theoretical analysis.

The heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop during gas cooling process of carbon dioxide in a helically coiled tube were investigated experimentally. The experiments were conducted without oil in the refrigerant loop. The main components of the refrigerant loop are a receiver, a variable speed pump, a mass flowmeter, a pre-heater, a gas cooler(test section) and an isothermal tank. The test section is a double pipe type heat exchanger with refrigerant flowing in the inner tube and water flowing in the annulus. It was made of a copper tube with the inner diameter of 4.85 [mm], the outer diameter of 6.35 [mm] and length of 10000 [mm]. The refrigerant mass fluxes were 200${\sim}$600 [kg/$m^2$s] and the average pressure varied from 7.5 [MPa] to 10.0 [MPa]. The main results were summarized as follows: The heat transfer coefficient of supercritical $CO_2$ increases, as the cooling pressure of gas cooler decreases. And the heat transfer coefficient increases with the increase of the refrigerant mass flux. The pressure drop decreases in increase of the gas cooler pressure and increases with increase the refrigerant mass flux.

In this study, a theoretical study was conducted on the pre-cooling temperature of hydrogen gas and the heat exchanger area in a small-scale liquefied hydrogen system. The small-scale liquefaction system was built and liquid hydrogen production experiments were performed. In this process, the temperature of precooled hydrogen gas was measure to be about 120 K, and then the possibility of a cause was analyzed through pressure analysis of hydrogen gas and container, and analysis of the amount of liquid hydrogen produced. It was found that some reasonable results were obtained from the theoretical approaches. Based on this theoretical approach, we aim to improve the production of liquid hydrogen by optimizing the heat exchange area according to flow rate.

The pressure drop decreases in increases of the gas cooler pressure and increases with respect to increases the refrigerant mass flux.
Hydrocyclone has been widely used for the solid-Liquid separation in many industrial sites because of its comparatively preferable applications that can be applied to wide-range panicle sizes. If seawater with impurities flows through pumps or heat exchanger, it might cause an decrease in efficiency of cooling system. In this paper, we have suggested solid methods of separating impurities from seawater in the cooling system by using a Hydrocyclone. The effects of design factors as solid concentration, cyclone inlet pressure, flow rate and diameter of underflow on the seperating performance of the Hydrocyclone were investigated. The results from the study are summarized as follows: 1) In proportion to the increase of solid concentration, the efficiency of solid-liquid separation is improved. 2) According as the cyclone inlet pressure increases the efficiency of separation is improved. Conclusively, this research suggested that the Hydrocyclone will be used as a pre-treatment system of cooling water in ships, and eventually prevent unexpected accidents in engine systems.
