  • The present study provides a relatively simple and accurate analytical model for the prediction of time-dependent stresses and curvatures of cracked R.C. sections under working loads. A more simplified solution is also provided. The proposed models are demonstrated by considering a numerical example and conducting a parametric study on the effects of relevant R.C. design parameters. In contrary to tension reinforcement, the compression reinforcement is found to contribute significantly in reducing tensile stresses in tension steel and in reducing the total section curvatures. The good accuracy of the proposed approximate solution opens a new vision towards a simple yet accurate model for the prediction of time-dependent effects in R.C. structures.

  • This study reveals the thin sheet metal process with multi-forming die that the name is progressive die, as a pilotless type, also high precision production part is made. They require analysis of many kinds of important factors, i.e. theory and practice of metal press working and its phenomena die structure, machining condition for die making, die material, heat treatment of die components, know-how and so on. In this study, we designed and constructed a multi-forming progressive die as a bending and drawing working of multi-stage and performed through the try out for thin sheet metal. Out of the characteristics of this paper that nothing might be ever seen before such as this type of research method on the all of processes of thin and high precision production part.

  • This paper presents the development of a new Adaptive Tuned Dynamic Vibration Absorber (ATDVA) working with magnetorheological elastomers (MREs). The MRE materials were fabricated by mixing carbonyl iron particles with silicone rubber and cured under a strong magnetic field. An ATDVA prototype using MRE as an adaptable spring was designed and manufactured. The MRE ATDVA worked in a shear mode and the magnetic field was generated by a magnetic circuit and controlled through a DC power supply. The dynamic performances or the system transmissibility at various magnetic fields of the absorber were measured by using a vibration testing system. Experimental results indicated that this absorber can change its natural frequency from 35Hz to 90Hz, 150% of its basic natural frequency. A real time control logic is proposed to evaluate the control effect. The simulation results indicate that the control effect of MRE ATDVA can be improved significantly.

  • This paper describes the work of the International Association for Wind Engineering Working Group E -Dynamic Response, one of the International Codification Working Groups set up at the Tenth International Conference on Wind Engineering in Copenhagen. Comparisons of gust loading factors and wind-induced responses of major codes and standards are first reviewed, and recent new proposals on 3-D gust loading factor techniques are introduced. Then, the combined effects of along-wind, crosswind and torsional wind load components are discussed, as well as the dynamic characteristics of buildings. Finally, the mathematical forms of along-wind velocity spectra for along-wind response calculation and codification of acceleration criteria are discussed.

  • The paper describes the work of the IAWE Working Group WGF - Extreme Wind Prediction and Zoning, one of the international codification working groups set up in 2000. The topics covered are: the international database of extreme winds, quality assurance and data quality, averaging times, return periods, probability distributions and fitting methods, mixed wind climates, directionality effects, the influence of orography, rare events and simulation methods, long-term climate change, and zoning and mapping. Recommendations are given to promote the future alignment of international codes and standards for wind loading.

  • This paper describes some research works of computer-aided design of blanking and piercing for stator and rotor parts and irregularly shaped sheet metal by press. An approach to the system is based on knowledge based rules. The process planning system by considering a blank layout for nesting of irregularly shaped sheet metal and an improved strip layout for stator and rotor parts and irregularly shaped sheet metal is implemented. Using this system, design parameters(utilization ratio, slitting width, pitch, working order, die blank shapes) are determined and output is generated in graphic forms. Knowledges for blank layout and strip layout are extracted from the plasticity theories, handbooks, relevant references and empirical know-hows of experts in blanking companies. The implemented system provides powerful capabilities for process planning of stator and rotor parts and irregularly shaped sheet metal.

  • Large-scale low-alloy steel shafts, used in the manufacture of steam turbine, are produced by ingot making, forging and heat treatemtn processes. The numerical analysis techniques are introduced to analyze and design the working conditions in each process. The solidification of a steel ingot is studied through the finite element method. The open die press forging and quenching process are simulated by viscoplastic and elastic-plastic finite element method, respectively. Thus numerical analysis techniques are very useful tools to study favorable working conditions for better and more desirable product quality.

  • Recently, Improving the energy efficiency of a pneumatic system and reducing the consumption of compressed air were a concern of scholars at domestic and abroad. The using fields of a pneumatic system are widely used in factory automation of manufacturing line, chemical factories with explosiveness danger and petroleum industries etc. In particular, Pneumatic cylinder is applied to feeding work of workpiece, jig tools and press mechanism, reciprocation and rotary motion with rack and pinion. In this study, The experimental apparatus consisted to pneumatic cylinder, dual supply pressure regulator and solenoid valve. The dual supply pressure regulator connected to outlet port of solenoid valve. The supply pressure (4.5kgf/cm$\^$2/) of compressed air goes into the rodless chamber 1 to drive the pistion rod forward which is named working stage. The supply pressure(2kgf/cm$\^$2/) of compressed air goes into the rod chamber 2 to drive the piston rod backward which is named no-working stage. Accordingly, The research results of this study can be obtained to Energy-Saving Effects of the compressed air about 35%.

  • Musculoskeletal Disorders are usually caused or aggravated by poor work processes and unsuitable working conditions - that involve or repetitive or forceful movements or the maintenance of constrained or awkward postures. The condition is characterized by discomfort and persistent pain. Case and Demographic Characteristics for Work-related Injuries and Illnesses Involving Days Away From Work, 2004. U.S" was examined. Causes of musculoskeletal disorders for assembly line workers were carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS), tendonitis, low back pain, and occupational stress. Recommendations of improvement for productivity are redesign of working conditions, exercise, prevent of musculoskeletal disorders and avoiding stress.
