As social interest in acne treatment has grown, various external preparations have been developed and studied. So, we investigated the external prescription which can treat acne in medical classics, then reviewed and divided it by dynasty. The data for analysis of Herbal formula was taken from 'medicine Dictionary of traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions(中醫方劑大辭典)'. 31 external medicines were searched, 3 were before song(宋) dynasty, 11 were Song(宋) dynasty, 11 were Yuan(元) dynasty, 7 were Ming(明) dynasty and 7 were Qing(淸) dynasty. The recipe and usage were only making them pill(丸) and paste(膏) using grinded medicinal herbs, then rubbing to face. As the age developed, unique manufacturing process(i.e fermentation method), and usage(i.e time-based usage, herbal medicine extracts for wash) were proposed. The external application with oriental medicine for acne used with Angelicae Gahuricae Radix(n=12), Bletillae Rhizoma(n=8), Syzygii Flos, Saposhnikoviae Radix(n=7) and so on. In particular, Bletillae Rhizoma was searched with high frequency in this study, but it was not included or studied in patent composition. The results of this study will provide basic data for future experiments and clinical studies.

In order to assess the impact of proprioceptive exercises on the position sense ability of the knee joint, we conducted an analysis using Biodex System $3pro^{(R)}$, targeting 42 ordinary people (male=22, female=20). After applying proprioceptive exercise, we measured changes in balance and flexibility, and active articular position sense (AAPS), depending on gender. To find out the change in each measurement item variable, we carried out dependent t-tests. The statistical significance level was set to 0.05. The research showed that after applying the proprioceptive exercise, AAPS was significantly improved for both men and women (p<.01). In the case of women, the flexibility was significantly improved (p<.01). Also, the balance was significantly improved for both men and women (p<.01). Therefore, the proprioceptive exercise program is considered to be very useful in improving muscle and joint function, and preventing injuries. Thus, continuous clinical studies using Biodex system $3pro^{(R)}$ are required for a variety of scientific evaluations of proprioceptive skills.

Sagunja-tang(Sijunzi-tang) has been traditionally prescribed as a restorative. The present study was undertaken to determine the possible toxic effects of Sagunja-tang on SD rats. In this study, we investigated the subacute toxicity of water-extracted Sagunja-tang(Sijunzi-tang) on SD rats. Twenty rats were orally adiministered Sagunja-tang for 28 days at a dose of 0 mg/kg(control group) or 1500mg/kg(treated group), respectively. All of subjects was survived. No significant difference in abnormal clinical signs, related to hematological values, serum biochemical values, water and feed intake, coagulation time, autopsy analysis, organ weight, tissue microscopically, funduscopy, urine intake and urinalysis, was detected. Compared with the control group, we could not find any subacute toxic alteration in treated group (1500mg/kg) for 28 days. This result suggests that Sagunja-tang(Sijunzi-tang). a herbal medicine prescription, is a safe prescription to body.

Bio-Q is a modified prescription with the activities of supplementing Qi and blood in human body. In the present study, immunomodulatory effect of Bio-Q was examined. After oral administration of Bio-Q for 7 days to Balb/c mice, splenocytes were isolated and immunological experiments were performed. Bio-Q significantly increased the proliferation of splenocytes exposed to concanavalin A (Con A), while it did not in case of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation. Bio-Q also significantly increased CD3/CD19, CD4/CDB and NK cells by flow cytometric analysis. In addition, Bio-Q significantly enhanced the level of $INF-\gamma$ in splenocytes, but not $TNF-\alpha$ by ELISA. These results strongly suggest that Bio-Q has immunomodulatory activity through the regulation of T cell mediated immune pathway.

1. Objects : This paper was written in order to understand of Taeumjowitang(太陰調胃湯). 2. Methods : We analysis prescription's combination of Taeumin's experior diseases through pathology and new prescription in DongyiSuseBowonSasangChoBonKywun(東醫壽世保元 四象草本卷), DongyiSuseBowon GabObon(東醫壽世保元 甲午本), DongyiSuseBowon ShinChukBon(東醫壽世保元 辛丑本). 3. Results and Conclusions : 1) The origin of Taeumjowitang(太陰調胃湯) is BoPyeSaengMacTang(補肺生脈湯) which is combination of SaengMacSane(生脈散) and SanYakHwaWiJun(山藥和胃煎). 2) BoPyeSaengMacTang(補肺生脈湯) was changed to GilGyungSaengMacSan(桔梗生脈散) in DongyiSuseBowon GabOBon(東醫壽世保元 甲午本). GilGyungSaengMacSan(桔梗生脈散) was changed to HanDaYulSoTang(寒多熱少湯) and Taeumjowitang(太陰調胃湯) in DongyiSuseBowon ShinChukBon(東醫壽世保元 辛丑本). 3) Taeumjowitang(太陰調胃湯) is combination of BoPyeWonTang(補肺元湯) which help Exhale Dispersing Qi of Lung, and adlay(薏苡仁), dry nut(乾栗) and radish seed(羅葍子) which help Stomach Qi, calamus(石葍蒲) which regular Qi, ephedra(麻黃) which is exhale experior cold Qi.

The studies on nutrition counseling and screening have been based on stand-alone program. This study introduces the nutrition counseling and screening management system. This system offers convenient user interface and the synthetic results of counseling and screening with various utilities, The system for nutrition counseling and screening consists of the general information of clients, the anthropometry data, the calculation of obesity and body mass index, the state of eating habits, the computation of calorie expenditure, the clinical symptoms, the convenient method for analysis of calorie and nutrients, nutrition prescription and alcoholism screening tests. Having interoperability, these functions preserve the information of clients and manage the historical data. The system inserts, stores and generates the synthetic information of clients, so it is able to provide suitable and efficient counseling to clients. The proposed system gathers various information of clients. With accumulated client data, it does the nutrition education, screening and counseling simultaneously. Managing clients' information connected to database, it can provide systematic and formal information. It is possible for the system to retrieve information and counsel in real time. It is expected that the nutrition counseling management system can improve the national health with animated nutrition counseling. (J Community Nutrition 7(4) : $220\∼229$, 2005)

Objectives: Donguibogam has helped progress of Eastern medicine across Asia and almost all of Korean medicine doctors still use the book as a classic reference. In this study, the prescriptions used in the treatment of stroke in Donguibogam are analyzed and the results are to be used for our subsequent studies. Methods: The frequency of use of prescriptions and the frequency of combination of medicines were analyzed from 89 prescriptions used in the Stroke chapter of Donguibogam, and it was intended to derive a combination prescription and a monosyllabic medicine that can be effectively used in the treatment of stroke for preclinical studies. Results: Ganghwalyupung-tang (羌活愈風湯) was the most mentioned prescription among 89 prescriptions, and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, among 165 species of medicines used in the 89 prescriptions, mixed in 55 prescriptions. However, considering the ratio of frequently used medicines, Sagunja-tang (四君子湯) was the highest in terms of composition ratio. Conclusions: Through this study, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma and Sagunja-tang were selected as materials for our subsequent studies.

Background: Serotonin syndrome is a life-threatening disease if not appropriately treated. This study aimed to investigate the prescription status of contraindicated drug combinations that cause serotonin syndrome and identify the related factors. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using nationwide claims data. Adult patients taking serotonergic drugs with Parkinson's disease or mental disorders were selected. Based on international medical databases (MDBs) and the Korean Drug Utilization Review (DUR), the status of prescribing contraindicated drug combinations that induce serotonin syndrome, the related factors, and the difference between international MDBs and the Korean DUR were analyzed. Results: Of the 49,773 study subjects, 163 (0.3%) were prescribed contraindicated serotonergic drug combinations based on international MDBs, and among them, only 105 (64.4%) were contraindicated by the Korean DUR. Positive influencing factors for prescribing contraindicated drug combinations include patient age between 65 and 74 and physician's specialties (neurologists, and orthopedists). Negative influencing factors were physician's specialty (internists) and medical institution (primary institutions). Conclusion: Despite the implementation of DUR, 3 out of 1,000 study subjects received contraindicated drug combinations that caused serotonin syndrome. Hence, it is necessary to comply with the DUR and improve it in accordance with international MDBs.

In July 1993 a new prescription of the EC was finished, concerning the voluntary participation of enterprises in a common auditing system. By this in the EC-member countries there must be founded centers of environmental auditing where experienced experts of environmental auditing should be accredited. These accredited experts are controllers for evaluating and certification of carried out environmental-auditings. An environmental-auditing practically represents an environmental assessment for an already existing enterprise with establishing corresponding programmes and strategies for the internal management to improve the environmental relations. Much experiences, which could be collected in the field of EIA during the last years may be transfered to this new task immediately. Only an essential difference there should not be overseen because of national legislation EIA in the defined cases must be carried out. By the EC-prescription carrying out an environmental-auditing for an enterprise is optional, it is recommended only. It was not introduced as a must. In spite of this fact because of the hard competition on the market there will be developed a pressure for the enterprises, to carry out such environmental-auditings. At present already a number of first projects in this direction can be seen, in the first line above all enterprises with the necessary economic power want to use this possibility, to gain better positions on the market. We have already gathered the first experiences in this field. We arranged corresponding contacts to several enterprises within the surroundings of Dresden. Within an opening discussion, where the project is explained and discussed with the management of the enterprise very detailed, the understanding, the readiness and the cooperation for the project are generated necessary prerequesits for the success of the whole work. By means of careful detail-work in collaboration with all departments and on all levels of the enterprise the total mass and energy-balances of the factory established and analysed. There are included also such ranges like material delivery, personal policy, public relations and sale as well as waste management. It is important that all people working in the factory have the feeling to be our partners, and not to have the impression to be checked or controled by an outside organization. This one of the most important factors of environmental auditing, in order to wake up and to develop a common interest on all sides. At the end of the environmental auditing there will be according to the prescription of the EC a catalogue of measures to do immediately, short time, mean time and long time for improvement of the environmental situation of the enterprise. All proposals are made in connection with a corresponding economic evaluation. These measures and programmes are declared as the environmental manual and are the basis for the work of the environmental management of the enterprise for the next three years. According to the EC-prescription, the enterprise with this environmental manual can get a corresponding certificate, which may be used for public relation purposes.
