  • In this paper, a novel CII method using a depth conversion technique is proposed. The proposed method can move a far 3D object near lenslet array and reduce the computation cost dramatically. To show the usefulness of the proposed method, we carry out the preliminary experiment and its results are presented.

  • Preliminary test for the design and construction of a tuned dynamic absorber is a conducted. Proposed tuned dynamic absorber is a cantilevered beam type, and is supposed to adjust its natural frequency according to the changing operation condition of the primary system. The modal mass of the dynamic absorber is the easiest to control, therefore, the position of the attached mass of the dynamic absorber is considered as the main design parameter of the absorber. The effect of the dynamic absorber is experimentally verified under various operation conditions of the primary system.

  • During the storage and transport of fruits in the bulk state, significant damage by dead load may occur. To reduce such damage, the prediction model of allowable pile depth, duration and optimum thickness of packaging cushion for fruits was developed in this study. From the preliminary experiment and some assumptions, the derived equations were verified to be a good prediction of the above three parameters.

  • In this paper, the authors reflect on how a lecturer's cross-cultural gestures affect learners from across cultures online and in the field teaching sessions for improving the service when to build an e-Learning system. The study extends to survey the way learners feel about cultural differences during a presentation from the research based on sociolinguistics research. Before starting a full-scale research, a preliminary study has been conducted to base the initial experiment, and analysis these result for main research.

  • This paper investigates the accuracy of three-dimensional positioning for EROS A stereo pairs when different numbers of ground control points are employed. The major works of the proposed schemes include: (1) initialization of orientation parameters (2) preliminary orbit fitting, (3) orbit refinement using the least squares filtering technique, and (4) space intersection. The experiment includes validation of positioning accuracy for an EROS A in-track stereo pair when different number of check points are employed.

  • Starting with the readily available p-tert-butyl-calix[4]arene 2, tert-butyl groups are removed by $AlCl_3$-catalyzed de-alkylation reaction, and the calix[4]arene 3 formed is converted to the tetraacetate 4. This compound undergoes Fries rearrangement to yield p-acetylcalix[4]arene 6, which seems to be an attractive starting material for the introduction of functional groups. As a preliminary experiment p-(1-hydroxyethyl)calix[4]arene 7 is prepared by LiAlH$_4$ reduction of 6.

  • In this study a drift prediction model based on fluid dynamics theory is introduced. The essential effects of environmental loads and target characteristics are taken into account from a fluid dynamics point of view. The governing equations of motion are derived from Netwon's law of dynamics. In the mathematical formulation only three degrees of freedom(surge, sway, yaw) of the drifting object are assumed and the environmental loads considered are the forces and moments by wind and current. A computer algorithm for this model is implemented to obtain the numerical result in the time domain. The preliminary tests for model verification are conducted and the results are compared with the field experiment data as well as leeway formula suggested from the field test data.

  • This study is characteristic analysis to optimize triggering of a high-power trigatron by FEM which is used to analyse electric field distribution in the trigatron. Triggering characteristics of a trigatron depends on arrangement of voltage polarity applied on electrodes and configuration of electrodes. This study is the preliminary stage for an experiment and make it possible to experiment effectively by finding optimal triggering characteristics though 3-dimensional node-based FEM which can practically model the complex structured electrode system.
