  • Two experiments were carried out in order to investigate the influence of Ring-Back-Tone(RBT) music on the evaluation of the phone-call receiver's personality in dimensions of Openness, Extroversion, and Neuroticism. In a preliminary experiment, the subjects listened to 17 RBT music stimuli in random order and assessed the personality associated with liking for each music using the 12 personality traits(N=15). Among the 17 RBTs, three were selected to be used in main experiment and they were distinguished from each other in terms of the tree personality dimensions(p<0.001). In main Experiment, it was hypothesized that the evaluation of phone-call receivers' personalities would be influenced by the personality of RBT music. Therefore, in the main experiment, the subjects were divided into four groups and each listened to one of the three RBTs or to a plain ringing tone(control group) until the receiver(the experimenter) answered the call. After interviewing the receiver, subjects evaluated her personality using the 12 traits. The empirical results provide evidence that the RBT influences the judgment of phone-call receiver's personality in terms of the three personality dimensions(p<0.001), supporting the hypothesis. In addition, it is found that there is a positive correlation between the personalities of RBT music and the phone-call receivers' personalities elaborating the affirmative result for the hypothesis(r=0.753, openness, p<0.01, r=0.753, extroversion, p<0.01; r=0.265, neuroticism).

  • To understand the effect of attachment substrate on the growth of benthic microalgae, we experimentally investigated the growth of benthic microalgae Nitzschia sp. (Jinhae Bay strain) with additions of glass beads in different sizes. The glass beads used in this study are 0.09-0.15 mm (G1), 0.25-0.50 mm (G2), 0.75-1.00 mm (G3) and 1.25-1.65 mm (G4). No addition of glass beads used as controls. Highest specific growth rate (0.37/day) and maximum cell density ($9,232{\pm}840$ cells/mL) of Nitzschia sp. showed at the smallest glass beads (G1), and the specific growth rate and maximum cell density were decreasing with increasing size of glass beads (specific growth rate and maximum cell density of G4 was 0.24/day and $6,397{\pm}524$ cells/mL, respectively). Moreover, specific growth rate of the control experiment (0.23/day) was significantly lower than their of G1 to G3 experiment. The results indicated that the attachment substrate for benthic microalgae as Nitzschia sp. is important factor which affecting the growth rate as well as cell density. Therefore, the physiological experiment of benthic microalgae seems to be necessary to preliminary experiment, which is addition or not of the attachment suitable substrate and the grain size for the target species of benthic microalgae.

  • As a preliminary experiment for the development of anode-supported tubular cell with proper porosity, we have investigated the anode substrate and the electrolyte-coated anode tube. The anode substrate was manufactured as a function of carbon content in the range of 20 to 50 vol.%. As the caron content increased, the porosity of the anode substrate increased slightly and the carbon content with proper porosity was obtained at 30 vol.%. The anode tube was fabricated by extrusion process and the electrolyte layer was coated on the anode tube by slurry dipping process. The anode-supported tube was cofired successfully. Their sintered property and microstructure were examined and the porosity of the anode tube was 35%. From the gas permeation test, the anode tube was found to be porous enough for gas supply. On the other hand, the anode-supported tube with electrolyte layer indicated a very low gas permeation rate. This means that the coated electrolyte was dense. Based upon these experimental results. we will fabricate and test the anode-supported tubular cell.

  • The GPS baseline processing and the network adjustment was required a preliminary classification and check for effective work because the observation data of GPS $3^{rd}$ order control points are enormous attain to about 12,000 points. Particularly, in baseline processing and network adjustment a inaccuracy GPS antenna heights and point names yield a gross error or a S/W computation error. For the baseline processing of observation data, the related all materials were collected and were required a final check. The factor occurring a error, in GPS the baseline processing, were inspected variously after a checking observation data. Also, baseline processing method of GPS $3^{rd}$ order control points were commented and the analysis carry out a results with a experiment. The ellipsoidal distance and height of duplication baseline was compared between adjoin campaign areas for a accuracy analysis of baseline processing. According to the result, the mean is about 1cm for horizontal direction and about 2cm for vertical direction.

  • A series of alcohols with perfluorinated segments $F(CF_2)_m(CH_2)_n-OH$, with m=8, 10 and n=4, 6, 10, were synthesized. First, the alcohols were reacted with fatty acid to produce several esters $(F(CF_2)_m(CH_2)-OOC-R$ with m=8, 10 and n=2, 4, 8,) containing perfluoro group by condensation reaction, and characterized by FT-IR, GC, and surface tension. The esters were soluble in ethyl ether, toluene, hexane, ethyl acetate, chloroform, and acetone, but insoluble in methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol and isopropyl alcohol. Preliminary experiments on 1,2-dichloroethane solutions showed a remarkable decrease of surface tension upon addition of the esters. Also, the esters films ranged from 100 to $122^{\circ}$, depending on the structure of fatty acid esters. As the separate experiment, the water-repellency of coated paper and cotton was evaluated. As a result, the water droplet dropped in surface was not permeated for two weeks.

  • Life cycle assessment(LCA) is acknowledged as a valuable tool to quantify the environment impact of agricultural practice as well as final product(biodiesel) considering whole life cycle of the target product. As a preliminary research of LCA study for rapeseed(Brassica napus L.) biodiesel, the methodological issues which have to be regarded with high priority were dealt with. No life cycle inventory(LCI) based on local data are currently available for LCA of rapeseed cultivation, crushing, and conversion to rapeseed methyl ester(RME) in Korea. In this paper, the life cycle of rapeseed and methodological factors which have to be measured for building LCI of each process are provided and discussed, which are including seed, fertilizer, energy use in rapeseed cultivation environment; and crushing, RME conversion, and transportation in biodiesel production.

  • Recent studies have focused on human empathic behavior regarding to physical, cognitive, and emotional aspects. Especially empathy is considered as a multidisciplinary study because of its wide application. However, majority of the studies have been focusing on empathy induced by negative emotion and physical pain. As a result, the purpose of this study, based on Loggia et al. (2008), is to investigate if empathy could be induced by positive events, and consequently if the positive empathy could increase subjective value of reward. According to the result of experiment which involved eight participants, we could confirm the inducement of empathy by positive events significantly; its power is not so strong though. However there was no interaction between empathy type (positive and no empathy) and whether the target received the reward or not. But if we would recruit more participants and additionally analyze correlation among trait/empathic state questionnaire, subjective ratings of the reward and emotion of the target, we suggest that this study would be valuable in that it could expand the empathy studies.

  • Throughout the world, clubroot disease is one of the most damaging diseases affecting Brassica oleracea. In order to perform QTL analysis of CR (clubroot resistance) loci in B. oleracea, we constructed a map, and analyzed CR-QTLs using the mean phenotypes of F3 progenies from the cross of a resistant double-haploid cabbage line (Anju) with a susceptible double-haploid broccoli line (GC). We identified one major QTL, pb-Bo(Anju)1 in C2 from Anju and four minor QTLs; pb-Bo(GC)1 in O5 from GC, pb-Bo(Anju)2, -3, -4 in C2, C3, and C7 from Anju, respectively. Additionally, we found that the accumulation of Pb-Bo(Anju)1 allele and the minor CR-QTLs is essential for resistance against various six isolates. Our finding markers closely linked to the CR-QTLs will help marker-assisted selection for CR. At present, we are undergoing toward map-based cloning for Pb-Bo(Anju)1 gene. The preliminary experiment delimited Pb-Bo(Anju)1 locus, encompassing among 450kB.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the protein requirement for maintenance of 2-year-old female Korean spotted deer. In the course of the experiment, each of three hand-reared female spotted deer was fed three diets that were iso-calorically formulated to contain low (approximately 7%), medium (12%), and high (17%) levels of crude protein (CP). Each of six trials included a 5-day transition, a 10-day preliminary, and a 7-day collection period. Dietary protein levels affected the apparent digestibility of CP (p<0.05) but not the apparent digestibility of dry matter, organic matter, or acid detergent fiber. All of the deer showed a positive CP balance on all of the diets. The maintenance CP requirement estimated by regression analysis was 4.17 g/kg metabolic body weight $(W^{0.75}){\cdot}d$. The maintenance digestible CP requirement was 1.42 g/kg $W^{0.75}{\cdot}d$. The metabolic fecal CP was 1.95 g/kg $W^{0.75}{\cdot}d$. The blood urea nitrogen of spotted deer increased (p<0.05) as the dietary protein levels increased.
