  • IP address lookup is one of the most important and complex functions in the router. In this paper, we propose an improved technique of LC-trie to increase the performance of IP address lookup in the high performance router. We effectively apply the prefix pruning method, which is used for the compression of the forwarding table in TCAM((Ternary Content Addressable Memory), to the LC-trie. This technique can decrease the number of memory accesses and upgrade the lookup speed. Moreover, through the real forwarding table and the real traffic distribution, we evaluate the performance of our scheme in terms of the lookup time and the number of memory access, comparing with that of the previous LC-trie.

  • Recently high utility pattern (HUP) mining is one of the most important research issuer in data mining since it can consider the different weight Haloes of items. However, existing mining algorithms suffer from the performance degradation because it cannot easily apply Apriori-principle for pattern mining. In this paper, we introduce new high utility pattern mining approach by using a prefix-tree as in FP-Growth algorithm. Our approach stores the weight value of each item into a node and utilizes them for pruning unnecessary patterns. We compare the performance characteristics of three different prefix-tree structures. By thorough experimentation, we also prove that our approach can give performance improvement to a degree.

  • When an undirected tree T and a vertex ${\gamma}$ in the tree are given the problem to transform T into a rooted tree with ${\gamma}$ as its root is considered. Using Euler tour and prefix sum an optimal algorithm has been developed [2,3]. We will present another parallel algorithm which is optimal also on EREW PRAM. Our approach resuces the given tree step by step by pruning and pointer jumping. That is the tree structure is retained during algorithm processing such that than other tree computations can be carried out in parallel.
