In this paper, we propose a new frame prediction filtering technique and a hardware(H/W) architecture for scalable video coding. We try to evaluate MCTF(motion compensated temporal filtering) and hierarchical B-picture which are a technique for eliminate correlation between video frames. Since the techniques correspond to non-causal system in time, these have fundamental defects which are long latency time and large size of frame buffer. We propose a new architecture to be efficiently implemented by reconfiguring non-causal system to causal system. We use the property of a repetitive arithmetic and propose a new frame prediction filtering cell(FPFC). By expanding FPFC we reconfigure the whole arithmetic architecture. After the operational sequence of arithmetic is analyzed in detail and the causality is imposed to implement in hardware, the unit cell is optimized. A new FPFC kernel was organized as simple as possible by repeatedly arranging the unit cells and a FPFC processor is realized for scalable video coding.

The use of composites is increasing for lightweight aerospace structures. Among these structures, the ring frame and the parts of the projectile body are mainly made of a fiber reinforced composite material which is less susceptible such as delamination to structural damage. As the use of fiber reinforced composites increases, interest in modeling efficient methods of stiffness and strength is increasing. This paper predict the mechanical strength according to the repeating unit cell(RUC) of the 2-D triaxial braided composites of fiber reinforced composites. Yarn slice definition, incremental approach and stiffness reduction model were used as strength prediction. Finally, the results of strength prediction are verified by comparing with experimental data of 2-D triaxial braided composites specimens.

This study collected various data of urban roadways to analyze the effect of travel speed change, and a GRU-based short-term travel speed prediction model was developed using such big data. The baseline model and the double exponential smoothing model were selected as comparison models, and prediction errors were evaluated using the RMSE index. The model evaluation results revealed that the average RMSE of the baseline model and the double exponential smoothing model were 7.46 and 5.94, respectively. The average RMSE predicted by the GRU model was 5.08. Although there are deviations for each of the 15 links, most cases showed minimal errors in the GRU model, and the additional scatter plot analysis presented the same result. These results indicate that the prediction error can be reduced, and the model application speed can be improved when applying the GRU-based model in the process of generating travel speed information on urban roadways.
Objective: The aim of this study is to propose a unit touch gesture model, which would be useful to predict the performance time on mobile devices. Background: When estimating usability based on Model-based Evaluation (MBE) in interfaces, the GOMS model measured 'operators' to predict the execution time in the desktop environment. Therefore, this study used the concept of operator in GOMS for touch gestures. Since the touch gestures are comprised of possible unit touch gestures, these unit touch gestures can predict to performance time with unit touch gestures on mobile devices. Method: In order to extract unit touch gestures, manual movements of subjects were recorded in the 120 fps with pixel coordinates. Touch gestures are classified with 'out of range', 'registration', 'continuation' and 'termination' of gesture. Results: As a results, six unit touch gestures were extracted, which are hold down (H), Release (R), Slip (S), Curved-stroke (Cs), Path-stroke (Ps) and Out of range (Or). The movement time predicted by the unit touch gesture model is not significantly different from the participants' execution time. The measured six unit touch gestures can predict movement time of undefined touch gestures like user-defined gestures. Conclusion: In conclusion, touch gestures could be subdivided into six unit touch gestures. Six unit touch gestures can explain almost all the current touch gestures including user-defined gestures. So, this model provided in this study has a high predictive power. The model presented in the study could be utilized to predict the performance time of touch gestures. Application: The unit touch gestures could be simply added up to predict the performance time without measuring the performance time of a new gesture.

This study investigated the predicted and abserved outflow of groundwater which occurred during tunnel constructions. Among the 586 road construction projects from 1986 to 2006, 4 route 25 tunnel construction areas and 26 waste water treatment facilities under construction were studied. Most of the tunnel outflow prediction in EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) process have been classified into the 17 types of units depending on the assessor's options, which have not conformed to the request of the residents and non government organizations. The investigation results showed that the outflow of underground water in tunnel construction areas averaged about $0.133m^3/km{\cdot}min$ with the maximum $0.386m^3/km{\cdot}min$, and that the outflow mostly occurred in the early stage of tunnel excavation and diminished gradually. The prediction of outflow of underground water in the EIA process showed excessive results compared to observed outflow, the even 51.7 times. Consequently for more realistic prediction, current EIA method for prediction of outflow of underground water in tunnel construction areas has to adopt numerical methods coupled with hydraulics and geologic informations from unit methods of present time.
Angus postweaning daily gain (PWDG) was analyzed to investigate effects of the heterogeneous variance and the genotypes by sex interaction on prediction of EBVs with data sets of various environmental levels. A whole data (16,239 records) was divided into six data sets according to averages of the best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE) of herd environment. The results comparing prediction models showed that single-trait model is adequate for most of the data sets except for the data set of poor environment for both of the bulls and the heifers where the heterogeneity of variance and the genotypes by sex interaction exists. In the prediction with the data set of the low environment level, the bull's EBVs by single-trait models had high product moment correlations with male EBVs of the bulls by the multitrait model. Whereas the heifer's EBVs had moderate correlations with female EBVs by the multitrait model. This moderate correlation seems to be resulted by the heterogeneity of variance and low heritability of the heifer's PWDG. The prediction models with heterogeneity of variance had little effect on the prediction of EBVs for the data sets with moderate to high genetic correlations.

A fast intra-prediction method is proposed for High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) using a fast intra-mode decision and fast coding unit (CU) size decision. HEVC supports very sophisticated intra modes and a recursive quadtree-based CU structure. To provide a high coding efficiency, the mode and CU size are selected in a rate-distortion optimized manner. This causes a high computational complexity in the encoder, and, for practical applications, the complexity should be significantly reduced. In this paper, among the many predefined modes, the intra-prediction mode is chosen without rate-distortion optimization processes, instead using the difference between the minimum and second minimum of the rate-distortion cost estimation based on the Hadamard transform. The experiment results show that the proposed method achieves a 49.04% reduction in the intra-prediction time and a 32.74% reduction in the total encoding time with a nearly similar coding performance to that of HEVC test model 2.1.

This paper presents the d-q axis equivalent circuit model of an interior permanent magnet (IPM) which includes the iron loss resistance. The model is implemented to be able to run in real-time on the FPGA-based HIL simulator. Power electronic devices are removed from the motor control unit (MCU) and a separated controller is interfaced with the real-time simulated motor drive through a set of proper inputs and outputs. The inputs signals of the HIL simulation are the gate driver signals generated from the controller, and the outputs are the winding currents and resolver signals. This paper especially presents iron loss prediction which is introduced by means of comparing the torque calculated from d-q axis currents and the desired torque; and minimizing the torque difference. This prediction method has stable prediction algorithm to reduce torque difference at specific speed and load. Simulation results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed methods.
This paper was conducted to prevent and respond to crimes by predicting crimes based on artificial intelligence. While the quality of life is improving with the recent development of science and technology, various problems such as poverty, unemployment, and crime occur. Among them, in the case of crime problems, the importance of crime prediction increases as they become more intelligent, advanced, and diversified. For all crimes, it is more critical to predict and prevent crimes in advance than to deal with them well after they occur. Therefore, in this paper, we predicted crime types and crime tools using the Multiclass Logistic Regression algorithm and Multiclass Neural Network algorithm of machine learning. Multiclass Logistic Regression algorithm showed higher accuracy, precision, and recall for analysis and prediction than Multiclass Neural Network algorithm. Through these analysis results, it is expected to contribute to a more pleasant and safe life by implementing a crime prediction system that predicts and prevents various crimes. Through further research, this researcher plans to create a model that predicts the probability of a criminal committing a crime again according to the type of offense and deploy it to a web service.
Proteins are essential agents for controlling, effecting and modulating cellular functions, and proteins with similar sequences have diverged from a common ancestral gene, and have similar structures and functions. Function prediction of unknown proteins remains one of the most challenging problems in bioinformatics. Recently, various computational approaches have been developed for identification of short sequences that are conserved within a family of closely related protein sequence. Protein function is often correlated with highly conserved motifs. Motif is the smallest unit of protein structure and function, and intends to make core part among protein structural and functional components. Therefore, prediction methods using data mining or machine learning have been developed. In this paper, we describe an approach for protein function prediction of motif-based models using data mining. Our work consists of three phrases. We make training and test data set and construct classifier using a training set. Also, through experiments, we evaluate our classifier with other classifiers in point of the accuracy of resulting classification.
