  • The knuckle crane mainly consists of six parts such as swing, main boom, outer boom, extension boom, hydraulic rotor and knuckle. And the hydraulic rotor is connected at the end of extension boom has rotor block, rotor body, rotor vane. In this study, we carried out kinematics analysis of the hydraulic rotor block curvature for a knuckle crane. Then, we showed the formula to establish the radius of a circumscribed circle to form the rotor block curvature. Third, we analyzed the stress at each point of the rotor block curvature according to the contact angle. From the result of this study, we designed the rotor block curvature with a proper contact angle for a knuckle crane to guarantee the stability of hydraulic rotor.

  • The sending characteristics of the non-contact type displacement transducers can affect the performances of the magnetic bearing systems when they support the rotating shaft. The probe type displacement sensor detects not only the displacement of the rotor at the sensing position but also the surface irregularitis of the rotor such as surface roughnessand roundness errors. If there exist such measuring errors, the magnetic bearing can not apply proper force against the rotor displacements for the detected signal is the input to the magnetic bearing controllers. The cylindrical shape capacitive transducer can detect the rotor displacement by the integral sum of the charges which are formed between the sensor plates and rotor so that it can reduce the detecting errors induced by the surface irregularities of the rotor. By theore- tical analysis, we compared the sensing characteristics of the cylindrical shape capacitive transducers for the rotors that have some sinusoidal irregularities with that of the ideal probe type displacement transducers.

  • In this paper, Fly robot with electric power, a kind of Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), is considered as an autonomous hovering platform, capable of vertical lift-off, landing and stationary hovering. This aircraft has four rotor and DC motors of electrical Power, which is capable of omni-direction for indoor application. In the earlier days of vertical flight experimentation developers looked at the intuitively easy control functionality of 4 rotor designs. But we need to obtain design method of suitable structures and adequate components because the existing prototypes of 4 rotor-craft don't analyze the propeller, motor characteristic and propose a methodology to optimize this system. In this paper, we will show the new 4 rotor craft with blimp, analyze design and manufacturing method of 4 rotor craft system. Also we prove propriety of our design and manufacturing method by being based on thrust and motor experiment.

  • The aluminum die-casting technique has been widely used to manufacture a rotor in motor industry because of its highly productivity, even though it sometime causes the various type of defects in the rotor, such as shrinkage, cavity, blow holes etc. which results in the decrease of the efficiency of system. Therefore the development of reliable technique to detect the flaws in the rotor is strongly needed not only to control quality assurance but to improve its efficiency. In this study, the wide variety of ultrasonic techniques have been applied to detect the flaws in the rotor and then to discuss the detectibility of the flaw and the applicability for NDE tool in the aluminum die-casting rotor.

Terfenol-D 작동기를 이용한 초정밀 스텝모터의 성능평가 (High Precision Stepping Motor Using Terfenol-D Actuators: Its Performance Test)

  • High precision step motor using Terfenol-D linear actuators is proposed and its performance is tested. Four Terfenol-D linear actuators are set up perpendicular to the rotor and saw-tooth current signals are applied on the actuators. It was found that the rotation angle is increased as the excitation current, the inertia of the rotor, and the contact force between the rotor and the push device are increased. The rotation angle per step of $0.001^{\circ}$ and blocking torque of 0.2Nm are achieved. The effect of the time delay between the excitation signals is also investigated.

스크류 로터 가공용 커터의 치형설계에 관한 연구 (The Design of Cutter profiles for Manufacturing Rotors of Screw Compressor)

  • The purpose of this paper is to design cutter profiles for manufacturing rotors of screw compressor, which are based on universal milling machine. The surface profile of screw rotor which is helicoidal is derived as brief equation through the coordinates transformation of the section perpendicular to rotor axis. And the equations of contact lines between a cutter and the surface profile of screw rotor are derived. The computer program which can analyze the equation of contact lines numerically and design the cutter profiles of screw rotor is made, and verified through measuring screw rotors which are menufactured as the designed cutter by the computer program.

로터-베어링 시스템의 잔류불평형량을 결정하는 방법에 대한 연구 (A Study about Way to Decide on Residual Unbalance of Rotor-Bearing system)

  • A new method to measure residual unbalance of rotor - bearing system was proposed. The method which determine residual unbalance based on polar plot and an analytical method which calculates the residual unbalance of the rotor from the vibration response of the Jeffcott rotor are proposed in this study with respect to a real rotor system of which the residual unbalance is unknown. The unbalance eccentricity of the produced experimental model is 3.78 mil, developing the measurement method of the residual unbalance more convenient than the proposed method of ISO and API standard. The proposed method was experimentally compared with the ISO standard, and the two methods were exactly correspondent to each other within an error of 1%.

무인 헬리콥터용 길이가변 로터 블레이드 개발을 위한 선행연구 (Preliminary Study on Development of Length-Variable Rotor Blade for Unmanned Helicopter)

  • A preliminary study on a length-variable rotor blade for a small unmanned helicopter has been conducted. After surveys on previous researches, and examining requirements for application to a small unmanned helicopter, a length-variable rotor blade was designed and manufactured to be driven by centrifugal force from rotor revolution with no mechanical actuator. The rotor blade was divided into a fixed inboard section and an outboard section sliding in span-wise direction. In order to determine the operating conditions of the length-variable rotor during revolution, and to derive the design variables of extension spring and rotor weight, a series of analyses from multi-body dynamics solution were conducted. The manufactured prototype was verified of its length-varying mechanism from a rotor stand, the results and required future improvements are discussed.
