Robust Design of the Gate System for Flatness Improvement in Semi-Solid Casting Processes (반응고 주조공정에서 평면도 증대를 위한 게이트시스템의 강건설계)

  • Semi-solid casting(SSC) of magnesium alloys is increasingly being used to produce high quality components. This process is similar to the injection molding of plastics and is called thixomolding. Using this process, higher strength, thinner wall sections and tighter tolerances without porosity are obtained. The high strength and low weight characteristics of magnesium alloys render the high-precision fabrication of thin-walled components with large surface areas. They are widely used for the IT, auto and consumer electronics industries. However, warpage of the thin-walled sections degrade quality of the parts produced in the SCC process. To produce thin-walled magnesium alloy parts, the geometry of gating system on the quality of the finished products should be clearly studied. In this paper, to minimize warpage of the thin-walled sections, Taguchi method is applied to the optimal design of the gate geometry in the thixomolding process. Width, height, length and angle of the gating system are selected for the robust design parameters. Effectiveness of the robust design is verified through the CAE software.

A Study on Plant Training System Platform for the Collaboration Training between Operator and Field Workers (운전자와 현장조업자의 협동훈련을 위한 플랜트 훈련시스템 플랫폼 연구)

  • Operator Training Simulators (OTSs) provide macroscopic training environment for plant operation. They are equipped with simulation systems for the emulation of remote monitoring and controlling operations. OTSs typically provide 2D block diagram-based graphic user interface (GUI) and connect to process simulation tools. However, process modeling for OTSs is a difficult task. Furthermore, conventional OTSs do not provide real plant field information since they are based on 2D human machine interface (HMI). In order to overcome the limitation of OTSs, we propose a new type of plant training system. This system has the capability required for collaborative training between operators and field workers. In addition, the system provides 3D virtual training environment such that field workers feel like they are in real plant site. For this, we designed system architecture and developed essential functions for the system. For the verification of the proposed system design, we implemented a prototype training system and performed experiments of collaborative training between one operator and two field workers with the prototype system.

Interactive Semantic Image Retrieval

  • The big challenge in current content-based image retrieval systems is to reduce the semantic gap between the low level-features and high-level concepts. In this paper, we have proposed a novel framework for efficient image retrieval to improve the retrieval results significantly as a means to addressing this problem. In our proposed method, we first extracted a strong set of image features by using the dual-tree rotated complex wavelet filters (DT-RCWF) and dual tree-complex wavelet transform (DT-CWT) jointly, which obtains features in 12 different directions. Second, we presented a relevance feedback (RF) framework for efficient image retrieval by employing a support vector machine (SVM), which learns the semantic relationship among images using the knowledge, based on the user interaction. Extensive experiments show that there is a significant improvement in retrieval performance with the proposed method using SVMRF compared with the retrieval performance without RF. The proposed method improves retrieval performance from 78.5% to 92.29% on the texture database in terms of retrieval accuracy and from 57.20% to 94.2% on the Corel image database, in terms of precision in a much lower number of iterations.

A Study on the Manufacturing Technology of the Aspheric Lens using Injection Molding (사출금형을 이용한 비구면 렌즈의 제조기술에 관한 연구)

  • The injection molding of the plastic optics is basically same as the conventional molding except it requires very intricate control of all the molding processing parameters. In the plastic optics, the problem of injection molding is the shrinkage. The shrinkage must be removed and predicted. This shrinkage is becoming more important than any other problems in precision molding because it can affect the focal length of a lens or the total performance of the optical system. This study focused on avoiding the shrinkage that the mold design allows for the optics. In making mold, the surface accuracy(P-V) of the lower and lower mold are $0.201{\mu}m\;and\;0.434{\mu}m$ respectively. A surface roughness(Ra) is below $0.02{\mu}m$ due to selecting the appropriate tools and using the injection molding machine in high degree. In injection molding of the plastic lens, mold temperature, resine temperature and injecting pressure are important process parameters. Injection molding process is carried out according to varying mold temperature and injecting pressure. As a result P-V(peak to valley) of spheric lens is $3.478{\mu}m$ and that of aspheric lens is $1.786{\mu}m$.

  • In this paper, it is presented a new technique to the design and real-time implementation of fuzzy control system based-on digital signal processors in order to improve the precision and robustness for system of industrial robot. Fuzzy control has emerged as one of the most active and fruitful areas for research in the applications of fuzzy set theory, especially in the real of industrial processes. In this thesis, a self-organizing fuzzy controller for the industrial robot manipulator with a actuator located at the base is studied. A fuzzy logic composed of linguistic conditional statements is employed by defining the relations of input-output variable of the controller, In tile synthesis of a FLC, one of the most difficult problems is the determination of linguistic control rules from the human operators. To overcome this difficult, SOFC is proposed for a hierarchical control structure consisting of basic level and high level that modify control rules.

  • The demand of high cycle fatigue behavior on plate material is increasing because of its various applications. However, the high-cycle fatigue life data of the plate material is very rare compared to the rod material. Thus, in this study, a plate specimen is designed for the ultrasonic fatigue test because it is time efficient as compared to the conventional fatigue test. To apply the ultrasonic fatigue test, the specimen design is required to resonate at 20 kHz. Therefore, the dynamic elastic modulus was determined by measuring the resonance frequency with a piezoelectric element and laser doppler vibrometer (LDV). As a result, the plate specimen is designed and demonstrated using the ultrasonic fatigue testing machine. The ultrasonic fatigue test results were compared with the hydraulic fatigue test results.

Spam-mail Filtering based on Lexical Information and Thesaurus (어휘정보와 시소러스에 기반한 스팸메일 필터링)

  • In this paper, we constructed a spam-mail filtering system based on the lexical and conceptual information. There are two kinds of information that can distinguish the spam mail from the legitimate mil. The definite information is the mail sender's information, URL, a certain spam keyword list, and the less definite information is the word lists and concept codes extracted from the mail body. We first classified the spam mail by using the definite information, and then used the less definite information. We used the lexical information and concept codes contained in the email body for SVM learning. According to our results the spam precision was increased if more lexical information was used as features, and the spam recall was increased when the concept codes were included in features as well.

  • A bearing is one of core parts in automobile. Rubber seal of the bearing is important to improve performance of bearing, formed by hot-press die of rubber seal for the intricate shape. In this study, formed tools are used to machine die of bearing rubber seal and the machining operation is classified into the several process of high precision. Design of experiments is used to optimize selection of the formed tools for the efficient machining of the hot-press die. The cutting force, tool wear and tool life are determined to characteristics. And, the clearance angle, the rake angle and the length cutting edge are considered as the major factors. Experiments are repeated to use one-way factorial design, and tool life is predicted by regression model.

A Feature-Based Malicious Executable Detection Approach Using Transfer Learning

  • At present, the existing virus recognition systems usually use signature approach to detect malicious executable files, but these methods often fail to detect new and invisible malware. At the same time, some methods try to use more general features to detect malware, and achieve some success. Moreover, machine learning-based approaches are applied to detect malware, which depend on features extracted from malicious codes. However, the different distribution of features oftraining and testing datasets also impacts the effectiveness of the detection models. And the generation oflabeled datasets need to spend a significant amount time, which degrades the performance of the learning method. In this paper, we use transfer learning to detect new and previously unseen malware. We first extract the features of Portable Executable (PE) files, then combine transfer learning training model with KNN approachto detect the new and unseen malware. We also evaluate the detection performance of a classifier in terms of precision, recall, F1, and so on. The experimental results demonstrate that proposed method with high detection rates andcan be anticipated to carry out as well in the real-world environment.

Predictive Models for Sasang Constitution Types Using Genetic Factors (유전지표를 활용한 사상체질 분류모델)

  • Objectives Genome-wide association studies(GWAS) is a useful method to identify genetic associations for various phenotypes. The purpose of this study was to develop predictive models for Sasang constitution types using genetic factors. Methods The genotypes of the 1,999 subjects was performed using Axiom Precision Medicine Research Array (PMRA) by Life Technologies. All participants were prescribed Sasang Constitution-specific herbal remedies for the treatment, and showed improvement of original symptoms as confirmed by Korean medicine doctor. The genotypes were imputed by using the IMPUTE program. Association analysis was conducted using a logistic regression model to discover Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP), adjusting for age, sex, and BMI. Results & Conclusions We developed models to predict Korean medicine constitution types using identified genectic factors and sex, age, BMI using Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Neural Network (NN). Each maximum Area Under the Curve (AUC) of Teaeum, Soeum, Soyang is 0.894, 0.868, 0.767, respectively. Each AUC of the models increased by 6~17% more than that of models except for genetic factors. By developing the predictive models, we confirmed usefulness of genetic factors related with types. It demonstrates a mechanism for more accurate prediction through genetic factors related with type.
