  • Recently the applications of high speed machining are increasing due to the need for high performance and high accuracy machining and machining for difficult-to-cut material. However, the high speed machining also accompanies some problems: the product quality can be degraded due to the tool wear and the product cast can go up due to frequent tool replacements. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a technique of quantitative tool wear measurement to determine the precise timing for tool replacement. In this respect, this study suggests a reliable technique far the reduction of error components by developing a system using a CCD camera and an exclusive jig to be able to precisely measure the size of tool wear in flat end mill for high speed machining.

  • This paper presents a method for the robot localization and calibration using the ultrasonic and the radio frequency. The distance between the receiver and a beacon can be computed by using the difference between times of flight. The presented method uses the gradient of the maximum amplitude of the ultrasonic in order to measure the time of flight precisely. The measured three distances between the receiver and the beacon are used to compute the robot position by the direct inverse method and the iterated least square approximation method. This paper is defined the calibration as the problem to find the location of 3 beacons and 3 robots, and presents 3 methods for it and found the 2B2R method as the best among them.

  • Dissolved silica is one of fatal components at a boiler facility Therefore, a dissolved silica measurement system should be equipped for managing efficiently the boiler facility. Most of silica measurement systems are composed of a sensor module of single-beam type structure, and silica density is measured with a infrared spectrometry using the Lambert-beer method. However, such a system occurs measuring error of large range and inconsistency of a light source, because of measuring a standard sample and a measuring sample alternatively. This paper introduces a method that the sensor module has a split-beam type structure and a tungsten lamp. The proposed system can measure silica density quickly and precisely more than those composing of a single-beam type structure, because of measuring and comparing with two samples at a same time. And examination results are shown to compare efficiencies of the system and existing commercial products, and for an ammonia influence.

수직벽 전방에서의 흡입/토출을 이용한 후류제어 연구 (Study of Wake Control by Blowing and Suction in Front of the Vertical Fence)

  • The effect of periodic blowing and suction of upstream flow on the separated shear flow behind the vertical fence was experimentally investigated. The fence was submerged in the turbulent shear flow and DPIV method was used to measure the instantaneous velocity fields around the fence. Periodic blowing and suction flow was precisely generated by the syringe pump. Spanwise nozzle made 2D planar periodic jet flow in front of the fence and the effect of frequency and maximum jet velocity was studied. From the results, the reattachment length can be reduced by 60% of uncontrolled fence case under the control.

인듐안티모나이드 포토 센서를 이용한 CRT 섀도우 마스크의 비접촉 온도 측정에 관한 연구 (A study on the non-contact measurement for the temperature of shadow mask of Cathode Ray Tube using InSb photo sensor)

  • This paper presents the experimental study of the non-contact temperature measurement for the shadow mask of cathode ray tube using InSb sensor. At present, High resolution of CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) is needed broadly; therefore, the measurement of temperature distribution of shadow mask in CRT during operation is important to analyze the thermal deformation of shadow mask. Most of the studies could not measure the temperature distribution of shadow mask precisely. We studied the temperature dis- tribution of shadow mask using InSb photo sensor for 17" cathode ray tube (CRT). Experiments using ther- mocouple are performed to validate the results of non-contact measurement. The results agree well with those results of non-contact method using InSb sensor.nsor.

  • When we use the strain gauge in the high temperature water, lowering of insulation resistance between test material and gauge is the matter. The lowering makes the measurement unstable and is the primary factor of an error. This study devises the waterproofing method in empirically that has the best insulating property in the hot water($100^{\circ}C$), In this way, we can reach the conclusion that on the condition of a few hours we can measure precisely in the high temperature like normal temperature.

Precision of Digital Photogrammetry for the Roughness Measurement of Rock Surfaces

  • This paper presents the benefits of using close-range digital photogrammetric techniques for measuring the roughness of rock surfaces, using digital stereo images obtained from a Rolleiflex 6006 metric camera. To precisely measure surface roughness, we researched on how to use the flat and curved reference surface obtained from geometrically corrected digital images of the rock surface by using the least squares method. To test the precision of the proposed technique, the surface roughness has been measured between the reference surface and sample areas of very smooth-surfaced rock. Then the results were compared with the measurements obtained from a laser sensor profilometer.

  • Since the last five years it has become a lot of solar power plants installed. However, by installing the large-scale solar power station it is not easy to predict the actual generation years. Because there are a variety of factors, such as changes daily solar radiation, temperature and humidity. If the power output can be measured accurately it predicts profits also we can measure efficiency for solar power plants precisely. Therefore, Prediction of power generation is forecast to be a useful research field. In this study, out discovering the factors that can improve the accuracy of the prediction of the photovoltaic power generation presents the means to apply them to the power generation amount prediction.

  • In this paper, being different from traditional methods, we design digital protective relay which can be applied to power management and control systems of not only small and medium but also a large scale plants. The digital protective relay was designed with DSP CPU(TMS320C31) to protect and measure more quickly and precisely. We will present test result which it performed according to the standards of Korea Electrical Manufactures Cooperative to prove the faculties of digital protective relay. The test result on the basis of KEMC1120 and IEC60255, show that the operation time error of the digital motor protection relay is improved within ${\pm}5%$.

Size measurements of galaxies in the nearby clusters (z<0.2) using the GALAPAGOS

  • The size evolution of galaxies is one of the fascinating issues in these days. It is known that the size of a galaxy is closely related to other galactic properties, such as the central surface brightness, stellar mass, and redshift. However, we need to measure the sizes of galaxies precisely to understand those relations. We determine the sizes of early-type galaxies in the nearby clusters (z<0.2) using the GALAPAGOS. The GALAPAGOS is a tool which provides surface photometry for multiple sources, which make it fast and convenient to deal with huge image data. We run the GALAPAGOS individually to the Subaru/Suprime-Cam and the HST/ACS images for the same targets. We present and discuss the result of our size measurements for further applications.
