Epizootiolosical factors of 166 cows with abomasal displacement were studied and in 21 out of 166 cows, the functions of liver and kidney were also tested. 1. Incidence of abomasal displacement was perdominant in small sized dairy herd less than 15 cows, using area of paddock below 165㎡. 2. Out of 166 cows with abomasal displacement, 116 cows (70%) were found left sided displacement and 50 cows (30%) were right. 3. Generally, one to two weeks were taken before treatment of veterinarian following onset of sign of the diseases. Therefore many cases were found to be severe in their illness. 4, Incidence rate of abomasal displacement was predominant in summer season (June, July and Au-gust). However, occurence of the disease was continuous throughout the year. About 80 percent of abomasal displacement was distributed from first to third purturition. 5. High milk production and feeding with high concentrates and low roughage showed a tendendy to occurs the disease. 6. Approximately 75% of abomasal displacement was distributed within 1 month pre and post partum. 7. Cows with abomasal displacement consumed little concetrates and 75% of cows with abomasal displacement passed abnormal fecal material. 8. Sixty six out of 166 cows with abomsal displacement were coincident with diseases such as retained placenta, metritis, traumatic reticulo-peritonitis and mastitis. 9. In many cass of abomasal displacement, abomasum was extended with gas. 10. Activities of AST ana LDH showed the trends to reduce after surgical intervention comparing with pre-surgery. Bilirubin concentration markedly decreased after surgical treatment comparing with pre-surgery. 11. The concentration of BUN and creatinine moderatly decreased after surgery compared with pre-surgery.
Objective: To investigate the phenotypes and predominant skeletodental pattern in pre-adolescent patients with Pierre-Robin sequence (PRS). Methods: The samples consisted of 26 Korean pre-adolescent PRS patients (11 boys and 15 girls; mean age at the investigation, 9.20 years) treated at the Department of Orthodontics, Seoul National University Dental Hospital between 1998 and 2019. Dental phenotypes, oral manifestation, cephalometric variables, and associated anomalies were investigated and statistically analyzed. Results: Congenitally missing teeth (CMT) were found in 34.6% of the patients (n = 9/26, 20 teeth, 2.22 teeth per patient) with 55.5% (n = 5/9) exhibiting bilaterally symmetric missing pattern. The mandibular incisors were the most common CMT (n = 11/20). Predominant skeletodental patterns included Class II relationship (57.7%), posteriorly positioned maxilla (76.9%) and mandible (92.3%), hyper-divergent pattern (92.3%), high gonial angle (65.4%), small mandibular body length to anterior cranial base ratio (65.4%), linguoversion of the maxillary incisors (76.9%), and linguoversion of the mandibular incisors (80.8%). Incomplete cleft palate (CP) of hard palate with complete CP of soft palate (61.5%) was the most frequently observed, followed by complete CP of hard and soft palate (19.2%) and CP of soft palate (19.2%) (p < 0.05). However, CP severity did not show a significant correlation with any cephalometric variables except incisor mandibular plane angle (p < 0.05). Five craniofacial and 15 extra-craniofacial anomalies were observed (53.8% patients); this implicated the need of routine screening. Conclusions: The results might provide primary data for individualized diagnosis and treatment planning for pre-adolescent PRS patients despite a single institution-based data.

Objective: To evaluate whether the increase of the amplitude of motor evoked potentials (MEPs) during surgery can imply favorable prognosis postoperatively in spinal cord tumor surgery. Method: MEPs were monitored in patients who underwent spinal cord tumor surgery between March 2016 and March 2018. Amplitude changes at the end of monitoring compared to the baselines in limb muscle were analyzed. Minimum and maximum changes were set to $MEP_{min}$ (%) and $MEP_{max}$ (%). Strengths of bilateral 10 key muscles which were documented a day before ($Motor_{pre}$), 48 h ($Motor_{48h}$) and 4 weeks ($Motor_{4wk}$) after the surgery were reviewed. Results: Difference of $Motor_{48h}$ from $Motor_{pre}$ ($Motor_{48h-pre}$) and $Motor_{4wk}$ from $Motor_{pre}$ ($Motor_{4wk-pre}$) positively correlated with $MEP_{min}$, suggesting that smaller the difference of MEPs amplitude, less recovery of muscle strength. There was a negative correlation between the amount of bleeding and $MEP_{min}$, indicating that the greater the amount of bleeding, the smaller the $MEP_{min}$, implying that MEPs amplitude is less likely to improve when the amount of bleeding is large. It also showed significant difference between patients with improved or no change of motor status and patients with motor deterioration after surgery according to anatomical tumor types. Conclusion: Improve of muscle strength was less when the increase of MEPs amplitude was small, and improvement of MEPs amplitude was less when the amount of bleeding was large. Correlation between changes of status of muscle strength after surgery and tumor types was observed. With amplitude increase in MEPs monitoring, restoration of muscle strength can be expected.
Study Design: This retrospective study was conducted including 18 patients who underwent posterior-only stabilization and fusion procedure for pseudoarthrosis in the ankylosed spine from October 2007 to May 2015. Purpose: This study aimed to describe the treatment outcomes in 18 patients with Andersson lesion (AL) who were managed using the posterior-only approach. Literature Review: AL is an unstable, localized, vertebral, or discovertebral lesion of the spine. It is observed in patients with ankylosing spondylitis. The exact etiology of this disorder remains unclear, and the treatment guidelines are not clearly described. Methods: We analyzed 18 patients with AL who were treated with posterior long segment spinal fusion without any anterior interbody grafting or posterior osteotomy. Pre- and postoperative radiography, computed tomography, and recent follow-up images were examined. The pre- and postoperative Visual Analog Scale score and the Oswestry Disability Index score were evaluated for all patients. Whiteclouds' outcome analysis criteria were applied at the follow-up. Moreover, at study completion, patient feedback was collected; all the patients were asked to provide their opinion regarding the surgery and were asked whether they would recommend this procedure to other patients and them self undergo the same procedure again if required. Results: The most common site was the thoracolumbar junction. The symptom duration ranged from 1 month to 10 years preoperatively. Most patients experienced fusion by the end of 1 year, and the fusion mass could be observed as early as 4 months. Pseudoarthrosis void of up to 2.5 cm was noted to be healed in subsequent imaging. In addition, clinically, the patients reported good symptomatic relief. No patient required revision surgery. Whiteclouds' outcome analysis score at the latest follow-up revealed goodto-excellent outcomes in all patients. Conclusions: ALs can be treated using the posterior-only approach with long segment fixation and posterior spinal fusion. This is a safe, simple, and quick procedure that prevents the morbidity of anterior surgery.
Purpose: Authors analyzed and compared the treatment result of distal chevron osteotomy between with and without adductor tenotomy. Materials and Methods: 36 patients (60 feet) with a minimum follow-up of one year were involved in this retrospective study. The chevron osteotomy without adductor tenotomy was performed for 20 patients (30 feet) and chevron osteotomy with adductor tenotomy was done for 16 patients (30 feet). The first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) angle and angle between first and second metatarsal longitudinal axis (IM) was measured. The difference of these angles were measured pre-and postoperatively and compared using Student's T-test. Results: In the group of chevron osteotomy with adductor tenotomy, the mean first MTP angle corrected $29^{\circ}$ pre-operatively to $9^{\circ}$ and the mean first IM angle corrected $16^{\circ}$ pre-operatively to $12^{\circ}$. In the group of chevron osteotomy without adductor tenotomy the mean first MTP angle corrected $31^{\circ}$ pre-operatively to $11^{\circ}$ (P>0.05) and the mean first IM angle corrected $13^{\circ}$ pre-operatively to $11^{\circ}$ (P>0.05). Deep peroneal neuroma were found in 3 cases of chevron osteotomy with adductor tenotomy. Conclusions: Adductor tenotomy should be performed in selected patient with chevron osteotomy to prevent deep peroneal neuroma.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to access quality of life and evaluate pre and post surgery management for persons with lower limb amputations. Method: This study was designed as a telephone survey. The subjects were patients who underwent their lower limb amputation between January 1994, and February 2005 at Asan Medical Center in seoul. sixty one of 203 subjects had granted consent and were studied. Results: The major cause of below knee amputations was vascular disease. Traumatic injuries were more common among subjects with above knee amputations. 93.4% of subjects were in use of prosthesis and 70.1 days were required to fit the prosthesis. 68.4% of subjects were able to ambulate with single point cane or without assistive devices. 80.3% of subjects complained phantom pain. Most subjects expressed the unsatisfactory result regarding the functional usage of prosthesis and education from hospital. Conclusion: Pre and post surgery rehabilitation program will benefit to promote better functional status and quality of life for persons with lower limb amputations.
In this paper, we proposed the method of virtual reality-based surgical navigation to reproduce the pre-planned position and angle of the pedicle screw in spinal fusion surgery. The goal of the proposed method is to quantitatively save the surgical plan by applying a virtual guide coordinate system and reproduce it in the surgical process through virtual reality. In the surgical planning step, the insertion position and angle of the pedicle screw are planned and stored based on the virtual guide coordinate system. To implement the virtual reality-based surgical navigation, a vision tracking system is applied to set the patient coordinate system and paired point-based patient-to-image registration is performed. In the surgical navigation step, the surgical plan is reproduced by quantitatively visualizing the pre-planned insertion position and angle of the pedicle screw using a virtual guide coordinate system. We conducted phantom experiment to verify the error between the surgical plan and the surgical navigation, the experimental result showed that target registration error was average 1.47 ± 0.64 mm when using the proposed method. We believe that our method can be used to accurately reproduce a pre-established surgical plan in spinal fusion surgery.
Purpose: Hip microinstability is defined as hip pain with a snapping and/or blocking sensation accompanied by fine anatomical anomalies. Arthroscopic capsular plication has been proposed as a treatment modality for patients without major anatomic anomalies and after failure of properly administered conservative treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of this procedure and to evaluate potential predictors of poor outcome. Materials and Methods: A review of 26 capsular plications in 25 patients was conducted. The mean postoperative follow-up period for the remaining patients was 29 months. Analysis of data included demographic, radiological, and interventional data. Calculation of pre- and postoperative WOMAC (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis) index was performed. Pre- and postoperative sports activities and satisfaction were also documented. A P<0.05 was considered significant. Results: No major complications were identified in this series. The mean pre- and postoperative WOMAC scores were 62.6 and 24.2, respectively. The WOMAC index showed statistically significant postoperative improvement (P=0.0009). The mean satisfaction rate was 7.7/10. Four patients with persistent pain underwent a periacetabular osteotomy. A lateral center edge angle ≤21° was detected in all hips at presentation. We were not able to demonstrate any difference in postoperative evolution with regard to the presence of hip dysplasia (P>0.05), probably because the sample size was too small. Conclusion: Capsular plication can result in significant clinical and functional improvement in carefully selected cases of hip microinstability.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the treatment efficacy of enucleation after decompression. Materials and Methods: A total of 17 patients with cystic lesion of the jaw were treated with decompression followed by enucleation. Pre- and post-decompression panoramic radiographs were analyzed. Results: The mean percentage of reduction after decompression was 64%. The reaction was graded as good (>80%) in five patients (29.4%), moderate (50%-80%) in nine patients (52.9%), and poor (<50%) in three patients (17.6%). The reduction rate of larger cystic lesions was faster than that of smaller lesions. However, the reduction rate was not affected by age. The duration of follow-up ranged from one to eight years. There were no complications, and one case recurred. Conclusion: Decompression is an effective method for the initial treatment of jaw cysts.
Background: Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) technique of sacroiliac luxation in toy breed dogs using cannulated screws has not been described. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of pelvic canal recovery, the reproducibility of successful surgery outcomes, and the acceptable difficulty of the procedure in MIS of sacroiliac luxation in toy breed dogs. Methods: MIS using 2.3-mm cannulated screws was demonstrated in 12 toy breed dog cadavers with sacroiliac luxation artificially induced. Pre and postoperative radiographs were used to evaluate the pelvic canal diameter ratio (PCDR), hemipelvic canal width ratio (HCWR), and reduction rate. Dorsoventral angle (DVA) and craniocaudal angle (CCA) of the inserted screw were obtained postoperative computed tomographic scan. Results: The statistically significant difference between the mean pre and postoperative PCDR was found (1.10 ± 0.12 and 1.26 ± 0.11, respectively; p = 0.002), and the mean HCWR close to 1.0 meaning symmetric pelvis also was obtained (0.97 ± 0.07). The mean DVA and CCA were 2.26° ± 1.33° and 2.60° ± 1.86°, respectively. Conclusions: MIS of sacroiliac luxation using 2.3-mm cannulated screws is applicable to toy breed dogs with acceptable difficulty.
