This study used questionnaires to investigate how pre-service elementary teachers understand ocean acidification. As a result of gender, female teachers were more aware of ocean acidification than male teachers, but male teachers had a higher average rate of correct answers, with a lower standard deviation. Teachers from the natural sciences knew more about ocean acidification than did teachers the liberal arts. Teachers ranked environmental crisis in order of most dangerous to least dangerous as follow: global warming and the greenhouse effect, ozone depletion, ocean acidification, and acid rain. About 46.7% of teachers learn about ocean acidification through education, followed by broadcasts, school lectures and the internet. The educational materials most desired for teachers were videos related to ocean acidification. Pre-service elementary teachers have two broad perspectives on ocean acidification. Firstly, they refer to economic loss and food shortages, and secondly, they note that there is a need for improved awareness and publicity about ocean acidification. The role of elementary school teachers is important because their awareness of environmental issues has a considerable effect on teachers perception of the environment. Revitalizing education on ocean acidification and government support are necessary to effectively communicate the seriousness of ocean acidification. Lastly, we need to study ocean acidification in detail so as to be able to persevere toward protecting our ocean ecosystem.
This study investigated the university proffssors', pre-service teachers' and in-service teachers' perceptions of the specialized science education courses in the 11 national universities of education in Korea, analyzed their perception differences, and made suggestions the future directions for the specialized courses. For this study, 46 university professors, 402 in-service teachers, and 336 pre-service teachers were participated nationwide. The results show that there were significant differences in their perceptions between the three groups. For university professors, for example, the acquisition of science content knowledge appeared to be the most important objective of the courses, whereas the other groups preferred the acquisition of more practical knowledge and skills that they could easily use and apply in their classroom teaching later. The university professors tended to think that the science specialized courses would be very useful to the teachers' teaching and contribute to developing their professionality. On the contrary, the in-service and pre-service teachers tended to think that the courses would be not so useful because science theories construct the courses rather than practical knowledge. The implications of these findings are discussed in relation to the future science teacher education.
This study aims to analyze types of science museum worksheets developed by elementary pre-service teachers and their perspectives on the requirements and necessity of science museum worksheets. As analysis subjects, this study selected 38 kinds of worksheets and reports developed by 114 elementary pre-service teachers who were in the third year of university of education. In this study, the science museum selected for elementary pre-service teachers to develop worksheets was a national science museum, composed of 'Nature and Discovery Museum', 'Science Technology and Industry Museum' and 'Children's Museum', which was located in a metropolitan city and opened in 2013. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; Firstly, as a result of analyzing the science museum worksheets developed by elementary pre-service teachers, this study found out that the experience type with hands-on and observation techniques applied was most, and as an approach method, direct manipulation, look-in observation and close observation were most. However, although these science museum worksheets were experience-oriented, many of them were survey-oriented ones that suggested too many questions through various exhibits. Secondly, as a result of analyzing requirements of science museum worksheets elementary pre-service teachers thought and described through the word tree of NVivo 10, this study extracted 10 kinds of main themes, out of which the requirement, 'A limited amount of activity should be required', showed the highest frequency. Thirdly, as a result of analyzing the necessity of science museum worksheets elementary pre-service teachers thought and described through the word tree of NVivo 10, this study extracted 9 kinds of main themes, out of which the opinion, 'It is required to help students check an exhibit which may be passed by', was most.

This study analyzed the change of teaching expertise of pre-service teachers through TPACK education. In this study, we applied a programming-based TPACK education program developed by Kim and Lee (2019) to 20 prospective teachers. To analyze the pre-service teachers' teaching expertise analyzed the lesson plan prepared before, during and after applying the educational program. As a result, Few teachers use technology in lesson plan, and the design of the instructor-led or experiment to confirmed content in curriculum or textbook. The use of technology has increased in the second Teaching Plan, but the technology was not used depending on the educational context. In the third lesson plan, all pre-service teachers were able to use technology in an educational context. Moreover, the teaching expertise of the pre-service teacher showed a statistically significant improvement in the lesson plan. This study founded that the programming-based TPACK education program was effective in enhancing the teaching expertise of the pre-service teacher.
This paper summarizes findings from investigations into the development and application of English bible study materials for middle school students in two local churches in Seoul, Korea. Six pre-service Christian English teachers have participated in the development of the materials. After the application of the new materials, the pre-service teachers' and bible study teachers' perception of the new materials have been investigated. To analyze the data, the pre-service teachers and bible study teachers were interviewed. The interview data was recorded, transcribed and analyzed based on content analysis method. The findings indicated that the pre-service teachers' church service learning gave them a sense of satisfaction and it also helped them develop professionalism in teacher education. To both the pre-service teachers and bible study teachers, keeping balance between bible teaching and English teaching was found to be a difficult task. Various policies have been implemented for human resources development in preparation for future society. Among the policies, STEAM education, SMART education and SW education are representative examples. In order for these policies to be implemented effectively in the school setting, teachers' positive perception and teaching competency are required. In consideration of the importance of pre-service teacher education, this study analyzed the current status of elementary pre-service teachers' perception and teaching readiness on STEAM education, SMART education and SW education, and sought implications that can be reflected in pre-service teacher education. The results of the study showed that the pre-service teachers' perception on the necessity of each policy was very high, and the understanding level of each policy was relatively high. Compared with this, it was found that pre-service teachers lacked training experience related to each policy, and the level of readiness for teaching was very low. As the most important task to be solved, many pre-service teachers selected the implementation of teacher education and seminars, and the distribution of instructional programs and materials. As the result of analyzing the difference according to pre-service teachers' individual characteristics, differences were found according to the level of their ICT utilization ability. Based on the results of this study, implications to be reflected in pre-service teacher training processes were suggested.
