  • Analysis and separation of constituent materials of old car have been performed by using the industrial shredding line. For this aim, three old cars made by domestic automobile manufacturers, Sonata II, Sephia and Prince were chosen and delivered in pressed form without engine, tires and doors, etc. Shredding line was substantially composed of pre- and main-shredder. cyclone, magnetic separation, eddy current separation and man-power separation. From the separation of shredder products, iron scrap was observed to be the major material of old car accounting for 60.1 % of total weight and non-ferrous metals involving Al, Cu and Zn, etc. were about 2%. Light fluff, about 90% of total fluff product, was comprised with plastic, fiber and sponge, etc. and the fraction of 5 cm undersize in light fluff was 70.5%. In case of heavy fluff, however. rubber and plastic were found to be the major constituent materials of it. Among the constituent materials of fluff, plastic showed the highest calorific value, more than 10,000 cal/gr and leather and rubber showed relatively high chlorine content, 10.3 and 2.55 wt%, respectively.

  • Many food protein hydrolysates have been shown to have antioxidant activities, and recent research focuses on low molecular peptides produced during hydrolysis of food protein. Korean rice wine contains about 60-70% of protein at dry base and originates from raw materials. It has been suggested that the protein is transformed into low molecular weight peptides, and have antioxidant activity during fermentation. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the antioxidant activity of the pre-purified and purified peptides found in Korean rice wine and to identify the responsible peptides. The wine extract of Samhaeju, a traditional Korean rice wine made by low temperature fermentation, was evaporated at $35^{\circ}C$. The two methods employed in the evaluation of antioxidant activity were the DPPH radical scavenging method and the beta-carotene bleaching test. The pre-purified samples showed 808 AAC (Antioxidant Activity Coefficient) and 56.5% AOA (Antioxidant Activity), which were higher than $\alpha$-tocopherol (572 AAC and 78% AOA). The rice wine extract was separated by reversed-phase HPLC. The protective effect of the four most antioxidant active fractions were tested for t-butyl hydroperoxide induced oxidation of healthy human erythrocytes and the byproduct was determined by malondialdehyde formation. Fraction No.5 showed 35% lower MDA concentration as compared to the control. The peptides were further purified using consecutive chromatographic methods and 4 antioxidant peptides were isolated. The amino acid sequences of the peptides were identified as Ile-His-His, Val- Val-His(Asn), Leu-Val-Pro, and Leu(Val)-Lys-Arg-Pro. The AAC value of the synthetic form of the identified peptides was the highest for Ile-His-His.

  • The current knowledge-based society constantly requires teachers to enhance the level of their professional development, which underscores the importance of pre- and in-service teacher training for content do-mains. Most of previous studies designed to investigate the in-service teacher training have been quantitatively conducted with the use of survey analysis and not many efforts have been made to identify any possible weaknesses of teacher training for mathematics education. The present investigation, made to fill the gaps, attempted to describe and interpret teacher training programs for mathematics education using in-depth in-terviews, a form of qualitative research approach. Together with the finding that the degree of classroom teachers' approval for their training was not high for various reasons, the study proposes ways to improve teacher training programs for mathematics education so as to change mathematics classrooms for the better.

  • YBCO films deposited on MgO(100) and Si(100) by rf-magnetron sputtering using stoichiometric single target were annealed under oxygen atmosphere at $880^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr. The microstructure and superconducting properties of YBCO thin films depended on the composition of pre-annealed thin films. Basal planesuperconducting particles grown on MgO(100) substrate had small and rod-like shade due to preferred orientation, while superconducting film grown on the basal plane-superconducting particles showed round-shape particles. If pre-annealed thin film had nonstoichiometric composition, liquid phase was formed during the heat treatment, which made it easy for particles to grow in the preferred orientation and thus to form textured structure. But the thin films with the textured structure did not show good superconducting properties, especially $T_c$, since the liquid phase transformed into second phase in the grain boundary during the cooling. The effect of the second phase on $T_{c, \;zero}$ was greater than that on $T_{c, \;on}$.

  • The most common form of pre-emphasis is y(n)=s(n)-As(n-1), where A typically lies between 0.9 and 1.0 in voiced signal. Also, this value reflects the degree of pre-emphasis and equals R(1)/R(0) in conventional method. This paper proposes a new flattening method to compensate the weaked high frequency components that occur by vocal cord characteristic. We used interval information of LSP to estimate formant frequency, After obtaining the value of slope and inverse slope using linear interpolation among formant frequency, flattening process is followed. Experimental results show that the proposed method flattened the weaked high frequency components effectively. That is, we could improve the flattening characteristics by using interval information of LSP as flattening factor at the process that compensates weaked high frequency components.

  • Currently, Virtual Reality video content is rapidly increasing in number of users due to the rapid growth of related hardware and software. Accordingly, Virtual Reality animation is also being produced in a new form by rapidly integrating with Virtual Reality technology among video contents. Currently, research on Virtual Reality animation has focused on how films are produced and how they are directed, and no research has been done to organize the pipeline for efficient VR animation production. Therefore, this study drew the characteristics of the pre-render VR animation pipeline by comparing it with the production pipeline of the existing 3D animation to produce the VR animation efficiently. Through this, we presented organic integration of production and post production processes suitable for the production of VR animations and reduced rendering time using Render Pass for efficient production.

  • Image contrast of whole bacteria was compared in Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli depending on pre-stain suspension liquids by energy-filtering transmission electron microscopy. The two bacterial strains were suspended in three most commonly used liquids for negative staining (triple distilled water [DW], phosphate-buffered saline [PBS], and nutrient broth [NB]) and directly observed without staining or stained with neutralized potassium phosphotungstate (PTA), respectively. Even though in low contrast, unstained bacteria were observed owing to their inherent electron density and cell shape in zero-loss (elastic scattering) images. After being suspended in PBS, unstained bacteria appeared to have higher contrast and more refined periphery than DW-suspended ones, and extracellular appendage structures such as fimbriae and flagella could be discerned. The unstained bacteria appeared to be invariably surrounded with electron-lucent precipitates, possibly from PBS. As far as delineation of the structures, the combination of DW or PBS suspension with subsequent staining provided the most satisfactory results, as evidenced by the high contrast of bacterial morphology and appendage structures. However, after being suspended in NB and stained with PTA, bacteria often had too high contrast or poor staining, with electron-dense aggregates around the bacteria. These results suggest that suspension with concentrated organic aliquots including broth media before PTA staining could deteriorate image contrast, and should be used only in dilute form for visualizing bacterial morphology and appendage structures. Moreover the contrast enhancement of unstained bacteria by salt granules would be advantageous in demonstrating bacterial sorption of environmental particles like heavy metals, maintaining minimal contrast for cell imaging.

  • Previous studies have investigated stepping over obstacles in treadmill walking training (TWT-OS) and treadmill walking training (TWT) alone for walking capacity not considering real physical activity. As such, we investigated the effects of TWT-OS on physical activity and changes in different levels of physical activity based on community ambulation in stroke patients. Thirty subjects were randomly assigned to either the experimental group or the control group, with 15 and 15 subjects, respectively. However, one subject from the control group was excluded because of inadequate treatment sessions. All subjects underwent routine physical therapy in the form of treadmill walking. The subjects in the experimental group underwent simultaneous training in obstacle-stepping while walking on the treadmill for 30 min/day, five times/week, for four weeks. Subjects were given a three-axis accelerometer to wear at the hip on a belt for one-week pre- and post-training physical activity. Step counts for seven days, average daily step counts, and the average of minutes spent in sedentary, light, and above moderate activity were chosen as outcome measures of physical activity. No significant differences between the groups were found in terms of step counts for seven days, average daily activity, or daily activity spent at sedentary levels after four-week interventions. However, the average daily activity spent at light levels (-42.60 min vs. -6.71 min) was significantly lower in the experimental group than in the controls. Conversely, average daily activity spent at above moderate levels was higher (19.86 min vs. 11.07 min) (p<.05) after adjusting for each baseline value. Significant pre- and post-training differences were found in all variables of the experimental group (p<.05). Thus, TWT-OS could improve physical levels above moderate activity as a community-oriented task more than simple repetitive waking on a treadmill, and it could provide an opportunity for patients ambulatory after stroke to participate in the community again.
