  • Mathematical Problem solving has been the focus of a considerable amount of research over past 30 years. But nowadays problem solving is being beginning to be of less interest to mathematics education researchers. Moreover, mathematics teachers have an urgent need to be provided with well-documented informations about "teaching of(expecially, via) problem solving" though following research issues :ⅰ) the role of the teacher in a problem-centered classroom, ⅱ) what actually takes place in problem-centered classrooms, and iii) groups and whole classes' problem solving rather than individuals. This paper intends to give some informations about practice of teaching mathematical problem solving in elementary school.ry school.

  • Since there are differences in the content, structure and functions of interpersonal communication during the practice of school science classes, it needs to articulate the difference of the modality of pedagogical practice in order to understand science teaching in detail. These characteristics of science teaching can be investigated by further insightful analysis on language in the science classroom. In this study, classroom discourse language codes using Bernstein's code theory were analyzed in the case of a middle school science class on the unit of minerals. The discourse language code was identified by the value of classification, which revealed power relations to the contexts of discourse and participants of discourse. It was also identified by the value of framing, which showed hierarchical relation between teacher and students as discourse subjects, and discursive control on the initiative of discourse. The results addressed that six types of discourse language codes were constructed and that those language codes reflected diverse modalities of science teaching from student-centered instruction to teacher-centered instruction in relation to classroom discourse. The modality of science teaching according to the transition tendencies of discourse language code showed dynamic variations of 'controlled student-centeredness inducing teaching' - 'positional student-centeredness permissive teaching' - 'controlled students' participation permissive teaching' - 'controlled student-centeredness facilitative teaching' - 'student-centeredness enhancing teaching'. In addition, results released that discursively and hierarchically weak control of discourse is necessary for enhancing student-centeredness of science teaching. Moreover, teaching practice enhancing student-centeredness can be accomplished by the harmony of a teacher's perception of discourse language code and his/her orientation to constructivist teaching and student-centered teaching.

  • Given that less attention has been paid to teachers than students in mathematics education, this study attempted to provide theoretical foundations to understand better mathematics teacher learning and teaching practice in transition. First, this paper summarized three conceptions of teacher learning on the basis of the relationships of knowledge and practice followed by several implications to mathematics teacher education. Second, this paper provided a brief overview of cognition as situated, social, and distributed. This paper then explored new implications and issues about mathematics teacher learning that the overview brought to light. It is expected for teacher educators and researchers to participate in rich discussion of many implicit issues about teacher learning that this paper begins to raise.

  • The present instruction using ICT has a problem that it inclines toward instructing the simple technique of information or communication technology. In this paper, to cope with this problem, we propose a new Teaching-Learning model using ICT. The previous teaching-learning models using ICT are investigated and analyzed. Then, the criteria for evaluating the ability to put information literacy into practice are evenly reflected in the proposed model, is evenly reflected. The result of experiment reveals that the proposed model enhances the ability to put information literacy into practice on 5 items of 6 qualitative evaluation criteria.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the teaching strategies used in the teaching practice of teachers charged with science-gifted middle school students. For this study, 4 teachers belonging to a professional gifted education institute were selected. Data for the study were classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, report of students, and photographs. The data were analyzed through the constant comparison method. As results show, the four teachers used different teaching strategies, and the teaching strategies had a close connection with each other. According to the learning types they chose themselves - acceleration or deepening - they used different teaching strategies. The 4 teachers' teaching practice were clearly different in teaching strategies, classroom atmosphere, interaction style between teacher-student and student-student, and report draw-up style. The teaching strategies identified in this study may be helpful to the teachers short in teaching experience in organizing their lessons and promoting their specialty in teaching for science-gifted students.

  • In their teaching practice, teachers encounter multi-dimensions of pedagogical challenges. The recognition and reflection on these challenges is crucial to advance our science teaching. This study looked into science teachers' dilemmas of their teaching practical work through their written cases. Dilemma cases are teachers' narratives organized around important events of teaching and learning. It can reveal teachers' situated cognition and be used as lens to investigate complex realities of science teaching and learning. 26 pre- and in-service elementary teachers' dilemma cases of science practical work were carefully collected and analysed to interpret what constitute tensions in elementary science practical works. They were largely grouped into three: Curriculum and Institutional Relevance, Students Relevance, Nature of School Experiments Relevance and divided into 7 subheadings: 'Authority of Curriculum(textbook)', 'Disappointment at external support', 'Students' interests and safety', 'Students' unscientific and inert attitude', 'Difficulty of showing expected results', 'Generalization through experiment', 'Knowledge acquisition and authentic inquiry'. Each dilemma was interpreted in terms of the tensions which constitute contradictory beliefs, values, expectation and realities. These dilemmas enabled to expose actual conditions of elementary science practical work and teachers' challenges otherwise can not be seen easily. Science teacher educators also can get some implications to overcome the gap between theory and practice in their teacher education.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of learning flow, learning interest, and academic achievement by dividing the time when class was taught by Havruta. The Havruta teaching method is a traditional Jewish method of learning, with a one-on-one discussion with a partner that has a positive impact on each other. Havruta teaches learners through various perspectives and perspectives, helping them to improve their learning ability by attracting new ideas and solutions. In the computer lab, there is a big difference between the students according to the learner's abilities. Therefore, it is thought that the Havruta teaching method will help the learners who have lost interest in learning and improve the learning ability in the conventional way which does not consider personal abilities. do. In this paper, based on the friendship teaching model of the Havruta teaching style, the experimental group was taught through the Havruta practice and the play. Through the pre- and post-test, the students who taught the class with the help of the verbal method improved the learning flow, the learning interest and the academic achievement.

To get the purpose participants was selected 286 Taekwondo instructors. Selected data were analyzed for descriptive statistic, pearson relation analysis, and multi dimensional analysis with SPSS/PC 18.0. The result was as followed. First, there were different on frequency of important factors between belief and practice of Taekwondo personality based on Taekwondo instructor's cognitive. The order of ethological important factors on Taekwondo instructor's cognitive were manner, confidence, love, perseverance, bravery. But The order of ethological important factors on Taekwondo instructor's practice were manner, confidence, perseverance, leadership, honestly. Second, belief of Taekwondo personality based on Taekwondo instructor's cognitive has positive relationship with practice of Taekwondo personality in a part. There were positive relationship among factors of belief of Taekwondo personality but were lower positive relationship among factors of practice of Taekwondo personality. Taekwondo instructors' determination on teaching belief has positive effect on guidance factor, practical factor, variety factor, if the teaching belief has higher score then the teaching practice has higher practical teaching.

  • This paper describes and effective teaching approach to an undergraduate database course. This research draws on practical experience based on the hands-on practice approach which leads students to develop a database application utilizing various tools. Students not only learn concepts, methodologies and tools of database technology in class and through online multimedia learning aids, but also practice how to integrate them through collaborative team projects. The course employs collaborative learning approach and multimedia and internet technologies. Students are encouraged to work collaboratively on assignments and projects and to learn independently through online multimedia learning aids.
