  • Since 1966 tissue culture has been used as a tool for the production of disease indexed stocks from selected plants and their rapid (clonal) mass propagation through the procedure now referred to as micropropagation. The major advantages have been the rapid introduction of new plant cultivars, created within conventional and mutation breeding programmes, as healthy stock for beneficial distribution and the expansion of the world wide horticultural industry. • This paper presents a methodology to evaluate the restoration capability of the feeder and its applications to the system planning and operation in the normal and emergency states. The proposed method is very simple and practical, so its application to the real system operation is expected to increase the system reliability.

  • In various applications of queueing systems, admission control is often employed. It is known that the threshold-type of admission control is optimal in many practical applications despite its simplicity. However, determining the optimal threshold value is hard in general, because analytical expressions for the stationary queue length distributions are not easily available in most queueing systems. In this paper, to quickly determine the optimal threshold value under threshold-type admission control, we develop a concurrent simulation technique, which can save large amount of CPU time required in simulation, compared to the standard simulation procedure.

  • We will discuss two-dimmensional spectrophotometry including long-slit spectroscopy and narrow-band imaging. The basic principles, applications, and techniques of observations and data reduction of spectroscopy and spectrophotometry for extended objects are described. This discussion will focus on practical long-slit spectroscopy using a Cassegrain spectrograph attached with 2 or 4m class telescopes and on imaging spectrophotometry using narrow-band interference filter sets. We will discuss scientific applications.

  • A non-parametric procedure is presented for testing exponentially against used better than aged in convex ordering class (UBAC) of life distributions based on u-test. Convergence of the proposed statistic to the normal distribution is proved. Selected critical values are tabulated for sample sizes 5(5)40. The Pitman asymptotic relative efficiency of my proposed test to tests of other classes is studied. An example of 40 patients suffering from blood cancer disease demonstrates practical application of the proposed test.

  • This paper presents circuit modeling and characterization of silicon-based on-chip integrated inductors in Giga Hertz range for wireless communication products. We compare several different designs of on-chip inductors for self-resonant frequency and quality factor. The measurement data could be used as a design guide for manufacturing practical spiral inductors for wireless applications. We provide the equivalent inductor circuit parameters from the actual measurement data.

  • Enzymes have been used in practical applications as diverse as brewing and industrial fermentations, detergent, analytical determinations and recombinant DAN technology. As processing aids, enzymes have been used in the manufacture of food products to improve their quality, solubility and stability for centuries. About 50% of the enzyme used as industrial processing aids are pretenses which have been used in a number of industrial applications including laundry detergents, chill proofing, meat tenderizing, fermented sauces, and the production of pharmaceuticals. • In this study. use if CSA expansive additive for concrete is discussed, particulary applications to partial compacting the concrete structure of spillway gate located in Youngjong new airport construction field. Before the field applications, several basic laboratory test were carried out in order to clarify the material characteristics and to decide mix proportions. As the result the concrete using CSA expansive additive show similar workability and compressive strength to that of OPC concrete. Forethemore, it can be concluded that the use of CSA component is effective to prevent shrinkage crack and to achive volume stabiliy of concrete structure.

  • A nonparametric procedure for testing exponentially against used better than aged in expectation (UBAE) class of life distributions is presented. We construct a test statistics based on scaled total time on test (TTT)-transformation, to test exponentiality against UBAE class of life distributions. The distribution of the statistic is investigated via simulation. Practical applications of the proposed test are presented.

  • Carbon based nanoelctronic materials such as buckyball, CNT, and graphene have been active field of research because of their superior electronic prperties and potential application to flexible electronics. Still the difficulty of fabrication and spatial control prevent them from practical applications. Here I introduce a novel growth method of CNTs, known as surface assisted growth, that can answer the challenge. Various device examples from as-grown CNTs will prove the importance of this method for future nanoelectronics.
