  • Power systems have uncertain dynamics due to a variety of effects such as lightning, severe storms and equipment failures. The variation of the effective reactance of a transmission line due to a fault is an example of uncertainty in power system dynamics. Hence, a robust controller to cope with these uncertainties is needed. Recently, fuzzy controllers are becoming quite popular for robust control due to its potential of dealing with uncertain systems. Thus in this paper we design an adaptive fuzzy controller based on an input-output linearization approach for the transient stabilization and voltage regulation of a power system under a sudden fault. Also this paper proposes a fuzzy system that estimates the upper bound of uncertain term in the system dynamics to guarantee the Lyapunov stability. Simulation results show that good performance is achieved by the proposed controller.

  • The paper describes and presents the experimental results of a fuzzy control scheme applied to an electric power system. The fuzzy control scheme which was recently proposed by T. Hiyama and T. Nakano [1] is implemented on a digital processor with A/D and D/A converters and is tested on our laboratory system. The results show that the proposed fuzzy controller with optimal settings of its parameters gives better performance than the PSS (Power System Stabilizer) optimally adjusted. The problems encountered throughout the experiment are also discussed.

  • In this paper center manifold theory is reviewed and its application to the control of bifurcations is explored. When applying the theory to a sample power system, we study the stabilization of bifurcation points using controls depending only on the rotor angular velocity of a generator. Under such a control it is shown that the system is not locally stabilizable when control is applied through mechanical power, and the system is locally stabilizable when the control is applied to the capacitor compensator.

  • A technique for power system' stabilization is presented using the variable structure control theory. The selection problem of the proper switching vector is very important subject for a design of the variable structure controller. In this paper, the switching vector is selected by desired eigenvalues allocation. and these desired eigenvalues are determined by eigenvalue assignment. Simulation results show that eigenvalue allocation variable structure stabilizer yields better dynamic performance than the others (conventional PSS, optimal linear stabilizer) and is robust to wide variations of the system parameters.

  • Design of a GA-based SPS controller for Power system stabilization has been investigated in this paper. The design problem of SPS controller is formulated as an optimization problem using GA. The dynamic characteristic responses are considered to verify performance of the proposed SPS under various disturbance for various operation conditions. The simulation results show that the proposed SPS controller provides most of the damping and improves greatly the voltage profile of the system under two different disturbances.

  • Stabilization of Power systems is investigated using a proportional-integral power system stabilizer(PI PSS). Time division PI PSS is examined in this paper. Two approaches are presented for determining the optimal stabilizer gains of the proposed PI PSS. Simulation results show that the proposed PI PSS yields better system dynamic performance and stability than the sub-optimal stabilizer in the sense of having greater damping in response to a step disturbance.

  • This paper presents a control approach for designing a self tuning fuzzy controller for a synchronous generator excitation and SVC system. A combination of thyristor-controlled reactors and fixed capacitors (TCR-FC) type SVC is recognized as having the most flexible control and high speed response, which has been widely utilized in power systems, is considered and designed to improve the response of a synchronous generator, as well as controlling the system voltage. The proposed parameter self tuning algorithm of fuzzy controller is based on the steepest decent method using two direction vectors which make error between inference values of fuzzy controller and output values of the specially selected PSS reduce steepestly. Using input-output data pair obtained from PSS, the parameters in antecedent part and in consequent part of fuzzy inference rules are learned and tuned automatically using the proposed steepest decent method. The related simulation results show that the proposed fuzzy controller is more powerful than the conventional ones.

  • In this paper, it is suggested that the selection method of parameter of Power System Stabilizer(PSS) with robustness in low frequency oscillation for Static VAR Compensator(SVC) using a self tuning fuzzy controller for a synchronous generator excitation and SVC system. The proposed parameter self tuning algorithm of fuzzy controller is based on the steepest decent method using two direction vectors which make error between inference values of fuzzy controller and output values of the specially selected PSS reduce steepestly. • EOTS for drones is showing another aspect of market expansion in detection and recognition areas previously occupied by artificial satellites. The two-axis EOTS for drones controls the vibration or disturbance caused by the drone during the mission so that EOTS can accurately recognize the goal. Vibration generated by drones is transmitted to EOTS. Therefore, it is essential to develop a stabilization controller that attenuates vibrations transmitted from drones so that EOTS can maintain the viewing angle. Therefore, it is necessary to standardize drone disturbance and secure the performance of EOTS disturbance attenuation controller optimized for disturbance level through this. In this paper, a method of standardizing drone disturbance applied to EOTS is studied, through which EOTS controller simulation is performed and stabilization controller shape is selected and designed.
