  • As with any ships, adequate power provision is crucial, especially on the ocean navigating ships far from the land. In order to resolve the effective and economic power supply system of any ship in operation, in this paper, we propose a power management system that intelligently controls the power supply in ships. Power management systems in this design consist of a power load detection system, a generator configuration system, and a power monitoring system respectively. The CT / PT sensor is used to measure amount of current and power in the power detection system, and according to the collected information from various sensor, the generator configuration system will switch on and off the main / sub generator effectively. Finally, the power monitoring system will display all status information of this power management system at a glance for users. This power management systems implemented in this paper is evaluated via real-time experiments, which works well as designed, and certified by KSCIEC61892-1:2012 and KSCIEC60950-1:2008.

  • In this work we investigate the power of power law in the VoD service over IP network. Especially, we show that the power of power law is strong in the location of the contents storage for the VoD service and its impact on the link dimensioning. This work first shows the instance of the power law in the popularity of the video contents from the real data for the IPTV service. After that we propose an analytic model that characterizes the behavior of customers in accessing the video servers as well as the power law in the viewing pattern. Finally, we show the impact of the power law by proposing a model for the cost as well as link dimensioning. Via numerical experiment we show the implication of the proposition.

  • In this paper, we consider the game theoretic approach to investigate the transmit power optimization problem where D2D users share the uplink of the cellular system. Especially, we formulate the transmit power optimization problem as a non cooperative power control game. In the user wide sense, each user may try to select its transmit power level so as to maximize its utility in a selfish way. In the system wide, the transmit power levels of all users eventually converge to the unique point, called Nash Equilibrium. We first formulate the transmit power optimization problem as a non cooperative power control game. Next, we examine the existence of Nash Equilibrium. Finally, we present the numerical example that shows the convergence to the unique transmit power level.

  • The effect of power supply noise on the phase noise of a ring oscillator is studied. The power supply noise source in series with DC power supply voltage is applied to a 3 stage CMOS ring oscillator. The phase noise due to the power supply noise is modeled by the narrow band phase modulation. The model is verified by the fact that the spectrum of output of ring oscillator has two side bands at the frequencies offset from the frequency of the ring oscillator by the frequency of the power supply noise source. Simulations at several different frequency of the power supply noise reveals that the ring oscillator acts as a low pass filter to the power supply noise. This study, as a result, shows that the phase noise generated by the power supply noise is inversely proportional to the frequency offset from the carrier frequency.

  • The research on waste power batteries in China in the past ten years reveals that the power battery recycling industry is enormous but marred with several challenges. A study of China's current power battery closed-loop supply chain revealed some issues in the power battery recycling industry, such as imperfect supply chain, small recycling scale, asymmetric information, and imperfect profit distribution mechanism. This paper uses the theory of corporate social responsibility and consumer choice to propose a closed-loop network of power batteries based on block chain technology and analyzes the existing closed-loop supply chain of power batteries. Consequently, this study provides a new idea for developing the power battery closed-loop supply chain by proposing the closed-loop network of power batteries based on blockchain technology.

  • Recently, switchboards for MV/LV distribution customers have been united and digitalized rapidly. This paper proposes the effective information visualization method for the data measured from cubicle switchboards for MV/LV distribution customers. We developed the algorithm that analyzes abundant data measured by switchboards and displays them to overall users, such as fire information index, power condition index, switchboard safety index, and power diminution index. Using a touch screen made users to operate it easily. User interface was also improved by taking graphic visualization. We guess the information visualization method suggested in this paper shows the new direction that heavy electrical equipments including switchboards are going to develop in the future.

  • The local information processing devices are devices that process information by converting voltage, current, and digital electric signals from legacy-type power facility into IEC 61850 based data. It acquires and processes the operation information of legacy-type power facility, performs control of power facility, and interlock function using internal logic. In particular, the time to convert data to process input and output information for a device is important because a number of protection relay input and output signals are handled by only one device. This paper introduces test methods and cases for measuring IEC 61850 communication function and input/output data conversion time of local information processing device.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of domestic and foreign power blogs that serve as professional source of information and to clarify the difference of the criteria for the certification and selection of power blogs. The study also analyzed the configuration of contents and the characteristic of categories of the power blogs. Eleven domestic blogs were examined, of which ten were certified as power blogs on several portal sites and one blog was operating in English. Furthermore twelve foreign blogs were examined, of which ten blogs were selected from the graded list of www.alexa.com for the Fashion Power Blog TOP 20 adopted on www.telegraph.co.uk in 2009, and two noticeable blogs were selected additionally. Data were analyzed by both theoretical and exploratory studies. The exploratory study was conducted by fourteen majors, who took interest in the blogs and were divided into two groups to look at the domestic and foreign sites, from 12 October to 12 November in 2010. The types of blogs were classified by frequency analysis of interactivity, interest provision, information provision and purchase capability. The investigators checked the type of the contents of each blog and the frequencies were used for the classification type. The analysis showed that the frequencies were in the order of information provision, followed by interest provision, and purchase capability for foreign blogs, while interest provision was followed by information provision for domestic blogs. Interactivity, interest provision, information provision and purchase capability were generally reflected in foreign blogs. Rather than interest provision and information provision, however, interactivity and purchase capability were reflected relatively weakly in domestic blogs.

  • This letter presents a power amplifier (PA) with an on-chip power detector for 2.4-GHz wireless local area network application. The power detector consists of a clamp circuit, a diode detector, and a coupled line directional coupler. A series inductor for an output matching network in the PA is combined with a through line of the coupler, which reduces the coupling level. Therefore, the coupler employs a metamaterial-based transformer configuration to increase coupling. The amount of coupling is increased by 2.5 dB in the 1:1 symmetric transformer structure and by 4.5 dB from two metamaterial units along the coupled line.

  • A sequential optimization algorithm (SOA) for resource allocation in a cyclic-prefixed single-carrier cognitive relay system is proposed in this study. Both subcarrier pairing (SP) and power allocation are performed subject to a primary user interference constraint to minimize the mean squared error of frequency-domain equalization at the secondary destination receiver. Under uniform power allocation at the secondary source and optimal power allocation at the secondary relay, the ordered SP is proven to be asymptotically optimal in maximizing the matched filter bound on the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio. SOA implements the ordered SP before power allocation optimization by decoupling the ordered SP from the power allocation. Simulation results show that SOA can optimize resource allocation efficiently by significantly reducing complexity.
