Reduction of structure-borne noise of the compartment in a car is an important task in automotive engineering. Transfer path analysis using vibroacoustic reciprocity technique or multiple path decomposition method has generally been used for structure-borne noise path analysis. These methods are useful in solving particular problem but do not quantify the effectiveness of vibration isolation of each isolator of a vehicle. To quantify the effectiveness of vibration isolation, the vibrational power flow has been used for a simple isolation system or a laboratory based isolation system. It is often difficult to apply the vibrational power flow technique to the complex isolation system like a car. In this paper, a simple equation is derived for calculation of the vibrational power flow of an isolation system with multiple isolators such as a car. It is successfully applied to not only quantifying the relative contributions of eighteen isolators but also reducing structure-borne noise of a passenger car. According to the results, the main contributor of eighteen isolators is the rear roll mount of an engine. The reduced structure-borne noise level is about 5dBA.

A lot of efforts have been made to analyze the performance of the vehicle equipped with automatic transmission through simulation. It might be necessary to understand the different types of transmissions, i.e., different power flows, for different models. If there is a module that can be applied to different types of automatic transmission, it could be helpful to transmission-related engineers. This study has started up from this idea. The common bond graph has been obtained from several types of the automatic transmission. The overall generalized equations and kinematic constraint equations have been derived using virtual power sources on common bond graph. They are used to derive state equations and constraints. These equations have been applied as an application to the vehicle equipped with two simple planetary gear set type of Ravigneaux gear type automatic transmission. The state equation, kinematic constraints, and dynamic constraints have been derived in every gear and shift operation using overall generalized equations and kinematic constraint equations. Simulations for constraint speed running, standing-start running, rolling-start running, and LA-4 mode have been conducted to analyze the performance of the vehicle powertrain using GVPS(Generalized Vehicle Powertrain Simulation) program wit pull down menus.
This paper presents the new unified power flow controller(UPFC) steady-state model. This is derived from UPFC bus power equations of UPFC Synchronous voltage source model. This is very simple and exact model. This can easily be incorporated in a load flow Program, which is suited for monitoring the Power system state as well as determining the magnitude and phase angle of UPFC serial voltage source.

The overall aim of this paper is to determine coupling loss factor of welding point between shell and cylinder using loss factor and structural loss factor. For this purpose, two kinds of loss factor were adopted. One is loss factor of each sub structure, another is structural loss factor based on the complex welded or assembled structure. Using these two parameters, it ispossible to derive the coupling loss factor which represent characteristic condition of SEA theory. Coupling loss factor of conjunction in complex structure was expressed as power balance equation. The derived equation for a coupling loss factor has been simplified on the assumption of one way (uni-directional) power flow between multi-sub structures. Using these conditions, it is possible to find the equation of coupling loss factor expressed as above two loss factors. To check the effectiveness of above equation, this paper used two-stage application. The first approach was application between simple cylinder and shell. The next was adopted rotary compressor. Rotary compressor has three main conjunctions between shell and internal vibration part. This equation was applied to find out the optimum welding point with respect to reduce the noise propagation. It shows the effective tool to evaluate the coupling loss factor in complex structure

Two-dimensional solidification analysis during rheology forming process of semi-solid aluminum alloy has been studied. Two-phase fluid flow model to investigate the velocity field and temperature distribution is proposed. The proposed mathematical model is applied to the die shape of the two types. To calculate the velocity and temperature fields during rheology forming process, the earth governing equation correspondent to the liquid and solid region are adapted. Therefore, each numerical models considering the solid and liquid region existing within the semi-solid material have been developed to predict the deflect of rheology forming gnarls. The Arbitrary Boundary Maker And Cell (ABMAC) method is employed to solve the two-phase flow model of the Navier-Stokes equation. Theoretical model on the basis of the two-phase flow model is the mixture rule of solid and liquid phases. This approach is based on the liquid and solid viscosity. The liquid viscosity is pure liquid state value, however solid viscosity is considered as a function of the shear rate, solid fraction and power law curves.

Load Flow calulation methods can usually be divided into Gauss-Seidel method, Newton-Raphson method and decoupled method. Load flow calculation is a basic on-line or off-line process for power system planning. operation, control and state analysis. These days Newton-Raphson method is mainly used since it shows remarkable convergence characteristics. It, however, needs considerable calculation time in construction and calculation of inverse Jacobian matrix. In addition to that, Newton-Raphson method tends to fail to converge when system loading is heavy and system has a large R/X ratio. In this paper, matrix equation is used to make algebraic expression and then to slove load flow equation and to modify above defects. And it preserve P-Q bus part of Jacobian matrix to shorten computing time. Application of mentioned algorithm to 14 bus, 39 bus, 118 bus systems led to identical results and the same numbers of iteration obtained by Newton-Raphson method. The effect of computing time reduction showed about 28% , 30% , at each case of 39 bus, 118 bus system.

Flow of fluid has been studied in various fields of fluid engineering. To hydraulic engineers, the unsteady flow such as pulsation and liquid hammering in pipes has been considered as a serious trouble. So we are supposed to approach the formalized mathematical model by using more exact momentum equation for fluid transmission lines. Most of recent studies fur pipe line have been studied without considerations of variation of viscosity and temperature, which are the main factors of pressure loss causing the friction of fluid inside pipe line. Frequency response experiments are carried out with use of a rotary sinusoidal flow generator to investigate wave equation take into account viscosity and temperature. But we observed that measured value of gains are reduced as temperature increased. And it was respectively observed that the measured value of gains are reduced and line width of gain is broadened out, when temperature was high in the same condition. As we confessed, pressure loss and phase delay are closely related with the length, diameter and temperature of pipe line. In addition, they are the most important factors, when we decide the momentum energy of working fluid.

A method of optimal active and reactive power control for economic operation in electrical power system is presented in this paper. The major features and techniques of this paper are as follows: 1) The method presented for obtaining the equivalent active power balance equation applying the sparse Jacobian matrix of power flow equation instead of using B constant as active power Balance equation considering transmission loss, and for determining directly optimal active power allocation without repeating calculations. 2) More reasonable and economic profit by minimizing total fuel cost of thermal power plants instead of using transmission loss as objective function of reactive Power control can be achieved. 3) Particularly in reactive power control, computing time can be considerably reduced by using Fuzzy Linear Programming instead of using conventional Linear Programming.
In the development of new automobiles, the efforts to reduce environmental problems like air pollution have been risen. Blowby gas consists of about $20{\sim}35%$ of total amount of Hydrocarbon (HC), one of dangerous pollutants issuing from automobiles. A PCV valve is a very small component in an automotive engine but it is a very important part. Because that a PCV valve is used to control blowby gas and to recirculate it into a manifold automatically. Although it has very simple operating principle, designing a PCV valve is so difficult due to interaction between fluid and solid. In this study, our purpose is to develop a design program for a PCV valve and to verify its efficiency. Both Bernoulli equation and 4th order Runge-Kutta method were adopted to predict spool displacements and flow patterns. Comparing with experiments, it was found that both spool diameters and displacements were predicted well, however, flow rates showed a little differences because of the assumption of non viscous flow.
