  • A sterilizer equipment by using electrical energy has merits that no process of chemical and no second environmental pollution. Also, the power conversion circuit for sterilizer equipment has merits that are reducing switching loss for soft switching topology by using zero current and zero voltage switching, and miniaturizing size of equipment. Thus, it is expected that the cost of sterilization process, when quality of the device is measured by power consumption, will be reduced. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to solve the sterilization problems of existing powder with plasma sterilization device, to find more economical and effective way, and to suggest more improved sterilizer.

  • In this study, a trade-off analysis of a power conversion system (PCS) is performed in accordance with a power semiconductor device to establish the suitable operating frequency range for the anyplace induction heating system. A resonant network is designed under each operating frequency condition to compare and analyze the PCS losses depending on the power semiconductor device. On the basis of the simulation results, the PCS losses and frequency condition are calculated. The calculated results are then used for a trade-off analysis between Si-MOSFET and GaN-HEMT based on PCS. The suitable operating frequency range is determined, and the validity of the analysis results is verified by the experiment results.

  • There are several electricity applied sterilizers such as sterilizer with high frequency, sterilizer with ozone, sterilizer with high voltage, and so on. Those sterilizers feature “because there is no chemical process, there is no secondly environmental pollution” At the power conversion part, AVS and ZCS methods have been used that it results in reduced switching loss, miniaturized size, and lightened weight. Besides, the current in the device is smaller than that of existing method. Thus, it is expected that the cost of sterilization process, when quality of the device is measured by power consumption, will be reduced.

  • This paper deals with a new multi-level high voltage source inverter with GTO Thyristors. Recently, a multi-level approach seems to be the best suited for implementing high voltage conversion systems because it leads to harmonic reduction and deals with safe high power conversion systems independent of the dynamic switching characteristics of each power semiconductor device. A conventional multi-level inverter has some problems; voltage unbalance between DC-link capacitors and larger blocking voltage across the inner switching devices. To solve these problems, the novel multi-level inverter structure is proposed.

  • his study deals with a power conversion unit of an anti-start air conditioner compressor system for the commercial vehicle. In case of converter, to reduce the switching losses and current stresses of the device, applies LLC resonant topology. Transformer leakage inductance in the full-bridge converter is used for making the resonance with the capacitor of the voltage-doubler. Through this method we can increase power and decrease volume of system. Both circuit analysis and design guideline are described. So in this paper, power conversion unit is designed. 2.5kW anti-start air conditioner compressor system was implemented, and system operation and stability was verified through experiment.

  • Recently, many nation have released standard such as IEC 61000-3-2 and IEEE 59, which impose a limit on the harmonic current drawn by equipment connected to AC line in order to prevent the distortion of an AC Line. Therefore, Plasma Display Panel (PDP) which is highlightened in digital display device also has the Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuit to meet the harmonic requirements. In PDP power module, the conventional boost converter is usually used for the PFC circuit. However, it comes serious thermal problem on it's bridge diode due to heat of PDP, and therefore the system stability is not guaranteed. In this paper, the bridgeless boost converter, which is used for PFC circuit of the PDP power module, is designed and verified the possibility of the application in a practical product in a view of efficiency, component count, temperature and etc.

  • The increasing demand for ultra-high efficiency of compact power conversion systems for electric vehicle applications has brought GaN power semiconductors to the fore due to their low conduction losses and fast switching speed. In particular, the development of materials and core device processes contributed to remarkable results regarding the publication of vertical GaN power devices with high breakdown voltage. This paper reviews recent advances on GaN material technology and vertical GaN power device technology. The GaN material technology covers the latest technological trends and GaN epitaxial growth technology, while the vertical GaN power device technology examines diodes, Trench FETs, JFETs, and FinFETs and reviews the vertical GaN PiN diode technology developed by ETRI.

동축-원추-방사형 선로변환에 의한 마이크로파 전력분할/합성기의 광대역 설계 (Design of a Broadband Microwave Power Divider/Combiner using Coaxial-Conical-Radial Transmission Line Conversion)

  • A coaxial-conical-radial transmission line conversion circuits have been investigated to realize a low loss high performance microwave power divider/combiner. In order to optimize the characteristics of the device, the power divider/combiner was designed separately with two parts-the inner part and the outer part. Utilizing the rectangular approximation of the outer part, we can design the low loss device which is not affected by the partition number N of the outer part. The small return loss which is lower than 20dB was obtained on the frequency range of 5.15GHz(7.45~12.60GHz). A conical connector was employed for smooth connection between the central coaxial line and the outer radial line. Making use of the $47^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$ 2-stage conical connector, the return loss lower than 30dB was obtained on the operating frequency range of 5GHz. The total return loss of the designed divider/combiner was lower than 20dB on the frequency range of 5GHz for the partition number N=11, N=12 and N=16.

능동형 전압제어를 통한 교류 전기철도 급전망에 대한 전력손실 분석 (A Power Losses Analysis of AC Railway Power Feeding Network using Adaptive Voltage Control)

  • This paper compares power losses between voltage controlled before and after using power conversion device in AC feeding system. For this purpose we present voltage control procedures and criteria and model high speed line and train using PSCAD/EMTDC to compare power losses in various feeding condition. Power losses of the simulation result in power control before and after in single point feeding system was reduced maximum 0.37 MW(23.8 %) and average 0.23 MW(20.5 %) when one vehicle load operates maximum load condition. When three vehicles operate maximum load condition in one feeder section, power losses after voltage control was reduced 1.03 MW(49.5%) compared to before voltage control. And, power loss of parallel feeding system is reduced the average 0.08 MW(7.2 %) compared to the single feeding system. In conclusion, adaptive voltage control method using power conversion device can reduce power losses compared with existing method.

상천이 필터를 이용한 싸이클로컨버터 출력의 개선 (An improvement of cycloconverter output using phase shifting filter)

  • 교류기기의 속도 및 토크 제어시스템에서 전력변환장치로 사용되는 싸이클로컨버터는 저속에서 토크가 크고 제어가 간단한 장점을 가지고 있다. 또한, 정류기, 직류링크부, 인버터가 설치되지 않으므로 시스템이 간단하고 대전력 시스템에 적합하다. 현재 사용되고 있는 대형선박의 추진전동기의 구동용 전력변환장치를 싸이클로컨버터로 변경하면 시스템이 간단해지므로 설치비용을 크게 감소시킬 수 있다. 하지만 기존의 싸이클로컨버터는 전력 반도체소자의 고속 스위칭에 의한 손실이 크고 출력 전압파형이 왜곡되어서 고조파 성분이 증가하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 단점을 개선하기 위해서 1차측에 위상이 다른 2개의 입력단과 2차측에 1개의 출력단으로 구성되는 상천이 필터를 설치한다. 위상이 다른 2개의 전압파형이 더해져서 2차측으로 변압됨으로써 전압파형이 정현파에 가깝게 출력된다. 그로 인해 추진전동기에 입력되는 전압파형이 개선되고 총고조파왜형율도 크게 감소한다.
