PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to find out variations in body posture by using the baby carrier at the front side and back side. METHODS: Thirty two healthy and young female who will bring up infants and had no musculoskeletal disorders of neck, lumbar and low limb were recruited for this study. They were each marked about ears of tragus, cervical 7th, acromion anterior end, anterior superior iliac spine, posterior superior iliac spine, greater trochanter and lateral malleolus as landmarks to measure variations of body posture when they carry infants at the front side and back side. Landmarks were regarded as the creteria in order to measure NeckFlexion angle(NF), Foreward shoulder angle(FSA), Pelvic tilt(PT), Sway angle(SA), Head displacement(HD) and Scapular displacement(SD). Variations in body posture were measured from the neutral position to the front and back side by using Image J. RESULTS: There were significance level (p<.05) in NF, PT, SA, HD and SD except for FSA in two different side. CONCLUSION: The results of this study indicate that each of the using ways of baby carrier for baby care was influenced postural responses of young women. therefore, it could be considered to apply to women who have abnormal body posture in order to minimize musculoskeletal disorders.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate how light touch with a finger affects balance ability when a posture is maintained in the condition of visual information blockage and to provide a fundamental material for developing balance ability in the process of rehabilitation treatment. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The study subjects were 17 healthy men and women in their twenties and thirties who were studying at S University in Seoul. The system was comprised of an equilateral triangular force platform. Subjects were asked to step on the foot position of the force platform (Good Balance, Finland) barefooted for 30 seconds, with eyes closed, hands hanging down loosely, and feet comfortably apart. It was connected to a laptop by using Bluetooth technology. An experiment was conducted in the following three circumstances: 1) no-touch trial, 2) light touch to the back (T7 area), and 3) light touch to the middle finger of the left hand. Each subject was given a 10-minute break between consecutive measurements. The experimental circumstances were performed randomly. Anteroposterior sway (APSV), mediolateral sway velocity (MLSV), and velocity moment (VM) were measured. Results: The APSVs (mm/s) were $9.32{\pm}3.37$ and $5.45{\pm}2.98$; the MLSVs (mm/s), $6.39{\pm}3.35$ and $3.31{\pm}2.48$; and VM ($mm^2/s$), $17.13{\pm}11.75$ and $6.76{\pm}8.31$ in the first and second experimental circumstances, respectively. APSV, MLSV, and VM values were significantly improved with the 1) no-touch trial and 2) light touch to the back trail conditions compared with the 3) light touch to the middle finger of the left hand condition (p<0.05). Conclusions: This study revealed that the balance ability for maintaining a body posture was influenced more by light touch to the back (T7) than by light touch with the sensitive fingertip and body sway diminished after visual information was blocked.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a task-specific obstacle crossing rehabilitation program on functional gait ability in patients with cerebellar ataxia. Overall, we sought to provide ataxia-specific locomotor rehabilitation guidelines for use in clinical practice based on quantitative evidence using relevant analysis of gait kinematics including valid clinical tests. Methods: Patients with cerebellar disease (n=13) participated in obstacle crossing training focusing on maintenance of dynamic balance and posture, stable transferring of body weight, and production of coordinated limb movements for 8 weeks, 2 times per week, 90 minutes per session. Throughout the training of body weight transfer, the instructions emphasized conscious perception and control of the center of body stability, trunk and limb alignment, and stepping kinematics during the practice of each walking phase. Results: According to the results, compared with pre-training data, foot clearance, pre-&post-obstacle distance, delay time, and total obstacle crossing time were increased after intervention. In addition, body COM measures indicated that body sway and movement variability, therefore posture stability during obstacle crossing, showed improvement after training. Based on these results, body sway was reduced and stepping pattern became more consistent during obstacle crossing gait after participation in patients with cerebellar ataxia. Conclusion: Findings of this study suggest that task-relevant obstacle crossing training may have a beneficial effect on recovery of functional gait ability in patients with cerebellar disease.
Postural balancing in human is known to be maintained by the complex mechanism coupled with cerebellum, equilibrium organ of ear, proprioception and other various organs. We developed a Computerized Balance Evaluation and Training system(COBET system) to evaluate postural control and to rehabilitate geriatrics and disabled patient. In addition, 55 normal adult were tested to investigate the influencing factors on balancing posture. For the analysis of static postural sway, areas of the moving center of pressure were calculated under 8 different positions of subjects. And subjects were also asked to follow the visual targets on monitor for the evaluation of the dynamic postural sway. In comparison of the first and the second sets of tests, there was test-retest reliability($\textit{p}$< 0.05). The controllability of the static pmtwn sway was decreased as the ages of subjects increase. When the ages of subject are over 60, the controllability was significantly decrease4 The dynamic postural sway was significantly greater in the age groups of 7th and 8th decade than the younger groups. It is concluded that COBET system is a reliable system in the evaluation of postural sway. The COBET system is considered to be a valuable training modality for the disabled patients as well as the elderly.
This study had performed with purposes to analyze the influence of the change of vestibular sens, visual and proprioceptive sense to the postural sway, so as to supply the necessary clinical materials through developing the physical therapeutic interventions and assessment format for the diabetic neuropathy patients. The sample consisted of fifteen diabetic neuropathy patients with sensory disorder in their lower limbs and fifteen age-matched normal control group. Then the effect of the GVS and the visual cue open and closed to the postural sway were measured by CoP. The summary of the comparison results were obtained below. In the comparison of diabetes neuropathy patients group and age matched normal control group, however diabetes neuropathy patients group had a decrease in superficial tactile sense(p<.001) and nerve conduction velocity(p<.001), they were able to control the posture and walk. So it is, diabetes neuropaty patients had more disturbance compared with AMC group on at a hard surface, particularly in the visual cue open(p<.001) and visual cue closed(p<.01). Moreover, since diabetes neuropathy patients group had more differences in visual cue open and closed(p<. 01), GVS(p<.01), it meant that they're affected largely by vestibular sense, visual sense. In addition, since there're the largest change in doubled sense disturbance such as visual cue open and closed under GVS, it meant that compensation of other senses were quite important for the diabetes neuropathy patients' postural control. In the conclusion, diabetes neuropathy patients who decrease or lose the somatosensory system, sensory training of visual and vestibular system are likely to be quite essential to control the posture and balance.
Biofeedback devices have been used successfully to improve head control and symmetrical walking in cerebral palsied children. Biofeedback of postural sway was investigated as a therapeutic technique to reduce postural abnormality in 24 selected children with cerebral palsy. Subjects were evaluated their weight distribution of both sides during their standing before and after the visual and auditory feedback training. The effectiveness of biofeedback was compared to conventional physical therapy practices in reestabilishing symmetrical standing in cerebral palsied children. Our study found biofeedback was effective in training symmetrical standing posture.
Background: Posture balance control is the ability to maintain the body's center of gravity in the minimal postural sway state on a supportive surface. This ability is obtained through a complicated process of sensing the movements of the human body through sensory organs and then integrating the information into the central nervous system and reacting to the musculoskeletal system and the support action of the musculoskeletal system. Motor function, including coordination, motor, and vision, vestibular sense, and sensory function, including proprioception, should act in an integrated way. However, more than half of stroke patients have motor, sensory, cognitive, and emotional disorders for a long time. Motor and sensory disorders cause the greatest difficulty in postural control among stroke patients. Objects: The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of visual and somatosensory information on postural sway in stroke patients and carrying out a kinematic analysis using a tri-axial accelerometer and a quantitative assessment. Methods: Thirty-four subjects posed four stance condition was accepted various sensory information for counterbalance. This experiment referred to the computerized dynamic posturography assessments and was redesigned four condition blocking visual and somatosensory information. To measure the postural sway of the subjects' trunk, a wireless tri-axial accelerometer was used by signal vector magnitude value. Ony-way measure analysis of variance was performed among four condition. Results: There were significant differences when somatosensory information input blocked (p<.05). Conclusion: The sensory significantly affecting the balance ability of stroke patients is somatosensory, and the amount of actual movement of the trunk could be objectively compared and analyzed through quantitative figures using a tri-axial accelerometer for balance ability.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of dual tasks on balance and postural control during standing in patients with cerebellar ataxia (CA). It was hypothesized that CA patients would exhibit different sway characteristics of the center of mass (COM) depending on the complexity of the secondary cognitive tasks compared with normal control subjects. Methods: A total of 8 patients with CA and age-matched healthy control subjects participated in this study. They were instructed to perform two balance tasks (non-dual and dual movement) with 3 different complexity of dual tasks. Range, variability, and velocity of COMs were measured. Results: According to the results CA patients showed deficits in balance and postural control with increased dual-task complexity during the static balance task in saggital sway movements. However, there was no significant difference in static balance in frontal sway. With higher difficulty in the cognitive task, CA patients took longer to stabilize their body center, while normal control subjects showed no change between conditions. In addition, CA patients had a greater COM resultant velocity during recovery in the dual-task condition compared with the single-task condition. These findings indicate that CA patients had defendable compensatory strategies in performing dual tasks. Conclusion: In conclusion, CA patients appeared to manage the priority to balance and postural control. Particularly in a situation with a postural threat such as when potential consequences of the loss of stability increase, they appeared to prioritize the control of balance and posture over the performance of the secondary task.

This study was compared the variation system of body posture condition for stability by the posture. We used a model of bio parameter on the basis of the move state in the standing posture. We compared the sway movement derived from average of the physical sensing condition. Vision condition of variation average (Vi-${\sigma}_{AVG-AVG}$) was verified slightly greater at $13.746{\pm}4.05$ unit. Vestibular condition of variation average (Ve-${\sigma}_{AVG-AVG}$) was verified slightly larger at $7.829{\pm}1.071$ unit. Somatosensory condition of variation average (So-${\sigma}_{AVG-AVG}$) was verified slightly smaller at $2.592{\pm}0.538$ unit. CNS condition of variation average (C-${\sigma}_{AVG-AVG}$) was verified slightly larger at $0.46{\pm}0.105$ unit. The valuation system will be to deduce the model of body management with falling and stroke and all that sort of things. There will be to infer a data algorithm and the evaluation of processing system.
