A sensorless control algorithm of brushless DC (BLDC) motors with a model current based on 120 degree conduction mode is proposed in this paper. The rotor speed and position can be estimated using the current model of BLDC motor, which is a modified version of the conventional current model of permanent magnet synchronous motor. The rotor speed and position can be obtained using the difference of the actual current and the model current. The position error caused by the parameter errors of the model current is compensated using a PI controller and the feedback loop of the real current. The validity of the proposed sensorless control algorithm is verified through simulation.
To reduce the size and cost of motor driving systems, several methods for driving multiple parallel-connected motors with a single inverter have been proposed. However, dual PMSMs driven by a single inverter, unlike induction motors, have a problem with instability due to system resonance caused by disturbances such as load imbalance and tolerances between two motors. To drive dual SPMSMs fed by a single inverter, this paper proposes an active damping algorithm to effectively suppress resonance by using one-sided sensorless speed control and position difference estimation. By deriving rotor position difference from d-q current differences between two motors, the proposed method is affected less by position difference estimation errors and is simpler than dual sensorless position estimation.

This paper presents a position sensorless control system of Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) using Neural Network. The basic algorithm of this scheme is based on the flux linkage characteristic according to the phase currents and rotor position. A sufficient experimental data was used for neural network training. The proposed position sensorless control system was realized using TMS320F240 DSP. The experimental result shows some good results, and verifies the possibility of this algorithm.

This paper presents an improved signal processing technique in the square-wave-type voltage injection method for IPMSM sensorless drives. Since the sensorless method based on the square-wave voltage injection does not use low-pass filters to get an error signal for estimating rotor position and allows the frequency of the injected voltage signal to be high, the sensorless drive system may achieve an enhanced control bandwidth and reduced acoustic noise. However, this sensorless method still requires low-pass and band-pass filters to extract the fundamental component current and the injected frequency component current from the motor current, respectively. In this paper, these filters are replaced by simple arithmetic operations so that the time delay for estimating the rotor position can be effectively reduced to only one current sampling. Hence, the proposed technique can simplify its whole signal process for the IPMSM sensorless control using the square-wave-type voltage injection. The proposed technique is verified by the experiment on the 800W IPMSM drive system.
This study proposes a novel frame anti-vibration controller for position sensorless PMSM drive application. This controller is called specific component reduction controller (SCRC). SCRC can function without an accelerometer and can achieve speed variable control. This study mainly comprises the following phases. First, the position sensorless control method will be provided. Second, the frame vibration model and load torque ripple will be shown. Third, SCRC will be discussed and its stability will be analyzed. Finally, experimental results show that SCRC can achieve speed variable anti-vibration control and compensate target frequency torque ripple.
Some of DC actuators used in home automation, office automation, medical equipment and automotive systems require a position sensor. In low power applications, the introduction of such a transducer remarkably increases the whole system cost, which justifies the development of sensorless position estimation techniques. The well-known AC motor drive sensorless techniques exploiting the fundamental component of the back electromotive force cannot be used on DC motor drives. In addition, the sophisticated approaches based on current or voltage signal injection cannot be used. Therefore, an effective and inexpensive sensorless position estimation technique suitable for DC motors is presented in this paper. This technique exploits the periodic pulses of the armature current caused by commutation. It is based on a simple pulse counting algorithm, suitable for coping with the rather large variability of the pulse frequency and it leads to the realization of a sensorless position control system for low cost, medium performance systems, like those in the field of automotive applications.

Generally, because of the cost and the restricted manufacture standard, the motor control for home appliance have been used the method using hall sensors or the sensorless method. In the conventional sensorless method using home appliance, the resistor and the back-EMF coefficient are varied by the motor speed and the load torque. Therefore, these variations cause the position error when the sensorless control is operated. This paper proposes the compensation method for sensorless position error using 2-hall sensor pulse signals.
A PMSG in variable speed wind turbine needs to know the position of rotor for vector control. Since the position sensor has the disadvantage in terms of cost, complexity of the system, a sensorless algorithm is needed. The sensorless strategy using the back EMF estimation is used for PMSG Wind Turbine. This algorithm is comparatively easy to implement than other strategies. This paper introduces the application of stable sensorless control for 2MW direct drive PMSG. In order to confirm the sensorless algorithm, the implementation is proceeded using 2MW direct drive PMSG from no-load condition to full-load condition. To drive 2MW PMSG artificially, 2MW PMSG connected PMSG through the mechanical coupling.

The information on the actual voltages and actual currents of the motor is required for the sensorless control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor without rotor position sensors. In the model-based rotor position estimator of a PM synchronous motor, the reference voltages, which are the outputs of the current controller, are commonly used. The reference voltages in over-modulation regions for high-speed operation differ from the actual voltages applied to the motor. Consequently, the estimated rotor position and rotor speed may fail to track the real rotor position and real rotor speed. In this paper, the sensorless control for a PM synchronous motor in over-modulation regions for high-speed operation is proposed. The three-phase voltages applied to the motor are measured by using additional voltage detection circuits, and the performance of the rotor position estimator based on the measured three-phase voltages is validated through the experimental results.
Recently, PMSMs(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors) have become increasingly popular in various high-performance motor drive applications. However, the high-performance drive of PMSMs needs a position sensor such as a resolver, which increases not only the price of the system but also reduces the system reliability. This paper is on the implementation of sensorless control of a SPMSM, which drives a fan for cooling in appliances. In this paper, the rotor position for high-performance drive of a SPMSM is derived from back electromotive force (EMF) information proportional to the rotor speed. Also, the initial rotor position information for start-up is estimated from a saturation phenomenon of inductance. The validity of the proposed sensorless drives was confirmed by the experiment on the SPMSM drive systems for cooling fans of refrigerators and laptop computers.
