  • An ontology provides an explicit specification of concepts and relations on information extracted from database or on human knowledge. Using an ontology, The information can be reconstructed according to semantic relations. In this paper. IT-People Event Ontology is constructed using people information extracted from web portals. IT-People Event Ontology represents constant information and time-temporal information on people. A system using this ontology outputs the well-organized reconstructed information on a specific individual in interest, and then the reconstructed information is suitable for users' demand.

  • This study aims to investigate characteristics of most clicked documents of Naver's universal search service. In particular, this study analyzed characteristics of most clicked documents such as click ratio, collection distribution, and yearly distribution. Also, clicked documents were evaluated in terms of relevance, credibility, and currency. In conducting this study, query logs and click logs of unified search service were analyzed. The results of this study show that most clicks occurred in blog collection and average click concentration rate reached almost 50%. Also, the relevance and currency of most clicked documents were quite high, but credibility of these documents were on average level. The results of this study can be implemented to the portal's effective development of searching algorithm and interface.

  • Google, an internet search service with extensive user base, has provided Book Search service. Google has pursued collaboration with publishers and libraries to obtain content for Book Search service; publisher community for the purpose of sourcing the books with copyrights, and the libraries for the purpose of digitizing their collections and also utilizing already digitized resources. Google Book Search Service has evoked significant controversy because of the potential monopoly problems and its risk, accompanied by Google's huge influence and broad user spectrum. This study, thus, suggests the countermeasures that library community should prepare in order to cope with the Google Book Search.

  • Conventional Korean tunnel portals require a lot of overburden. For stability reasons, about 1.5 to 2.0 times the tunnel diameter is needed for the height in order to achieve a sufficient arching effect. Thus, considerable movement of earth and support constructions are required which lead to undesirably large changes of and damage to the environment. With a massively designed pipe roof, tunnels at low overburden can be built. To effectively construct pipe roof as an advanced safeguarding method, the following properties are indispensable: stability, insensitivity to settling and drilling accuracy. A new pipe roof method, AT-casing system, has been developed which on the one hand entirely combines the properties mentioned above, and which on the other hand permits the construction of safe, economical and environmentally friendly tunnels at low overburden heights of 3 to 5m.

  • Digital knowledge and information goods as experience goods have some unique characteristics such as close to zero reproduction and distribution cost, high price volatility, and low price acceptability. For the reasons, the pricing policies of digital knowledge goods are very difficult and complicate. Also, most consumers of digital goods have experienced cognitive dissonance after buying decision. The purpose of this paper is to investigate what factors affect the price acceptability level and cognitive dissonance of digital knowledge goods buyers. This paper suggest a structural model that was established by the cognitive dissonance theory and S-O-R(Stimulus-Organization-Response) model. The model is consisted of four exogenous variables and three endogenous variables. The empirical test and statistical analysis suggest following results and practical implications. The variables such as product involvement and perception of price fairness that have positive roles to price acceptability have strong influence on the all the three endogenous variables. But the variables such as sale proneness and price mavenism that have negative roles to price acceptability have little influence on the all the three endogenous variables. In the model, the payment intention was very important mediating variable between exogenous variables and two dependent variables, ie. price acceptability and cognitive dissonance. These results imply that the digital knowledge portals must have some differentiated pricing policies to the customers who have price consciousness and price mavenism. Also, they need some special promotions to whom have positive attitude to the value of digital goods.

  • We reviewed 56 patients who received mandibulotomy at Yonsei medical center between 1989 and 1999. We also analysed the complications associated with mandibulotomy and its contributing factors. The complications occur in 16 patients(28.6%) and are classified into two categories; intraoperative and postperative complications. Nonunion was observed in 5 patients and osteoradionecrosis in 5. The patients who received preoperative radiation therapy were more tend to develop nonunion and osteoradionecrosis. This study suggests the benefits of mandibulotomy as a surgical approach to oral cancer: 1. Paramedian osteotomy was recommended for preservation of neurovascular bundle and ease of surgical access. 2. By using thin saw blade, reapproximation was improved with minimal bone loss. 3. osteotomy on anterior mandible which lies outside the usual portals of radiation therapy decreases the incidence of osteoradionecrosis.

  • Purpose: This study is an integrative review of previous research conducted on family-school nurse partnership in school health care, as perceived by school nurses, children, and families. Method: The study was conducted according to the five stages of integrative review suggested by Whittemore and Knafl (2005), which involved problem identification, literature search, data evaluation, data analysis, and presentation of results. Suitable literature was found using portals such as PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, and Web of Science. Key words such as school nurses, family, parents, children, and partnership were used to narrow the search results. Studies published in peer-review journals between 2006-2018 were selected. The quality of studies was appraised using critical appraisal tools provided by the Joanna Briggs Institute (2020). Result: Thirteen studies (5 quantitative and 8 qualitative) were finalized for the final review process. After an extensive review, four key themes of school nurse-family partnership in school health care were identified: partnership components, partnership barriers, partnership facilitators, and strategies to promote partnership. Conclusion: Partnership and its components, barriers, and facilitators, along with strategies for its promotion should be considered in school health care. Further studies are needed on the perceptions held by parents and children regarding school health care partnership.

  • Transaction logs capture the interactions between online information retrieval systems and the users. Given the nature of the Web and Web users, transaction logs appear to be a reasonable and relevant method to collect and investigate information searching behaviors from a large number of Web users. Based on a series of research studies that analyzed Naver transaction logs, this study examines how transaction log analysis can be applied and contributed to the field of web searching and suggests future implications for the web searching field. It is expected that this study could contribute to the development and implementation of more effective Web search systems and services.

  • Semantic web portal is expected to overcome the shortcomings of the current web portals through advanced semantic web technologies and to be an effective and efficient method of knowledge sharing. In order to contribute to the knowledge sharing, semantic web portal needs to construct and integrate ontologies of each organization. Also, it needs to support search and navigation of inter-related knowledge. In this paper, we will design a semantic web portal that satisfies such requirements in the domain of display industry, and construct an ontology which links various knowledge of different fields. Moreover, we want to suggest an effective and automatic search/navigation method that supports customers who do not know the details of an ontology to easily get the desired results.
