A Study on Interaction between Multimodal Feedback Setting and Portable Patterns through Behavior Study of Mobile Phone User in Mobile Environment (모바일 환경 내 휴대폰 사용자 행동연구를 통한 다중양식 피드백 설정과 휴대패턴의 상호영향 연구)

  • 모바일 환경에서 휴대폰을 사용하다 보면 무의식적으로 전화를 받지 못하는(Missing call) 상황이 빈번하게 일어난다. 휴대폰에서는 기본적으로 시각 청각 촉각의 다중양식 피드백(Multimodal feedback)을 제공하고 있음에도 불구하고, 이렇게 Missing call 이 발생하는 현상에는 여러 가지 다양한 원인이 존재할 것이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 원인을 찾기 위해 모바일 환경 내 휴대폰 사용자 행동연구를 실시하여 일반적인 휴대패턴을 분석하고, Missing call과 관련하여 주로 설정하는 수신모드와 휴대패턴의 상호영향을 연구하고자 하였다. 본 연구결과, 모바일 환경에서 휴대폰 수신 탐지능력에는 인지심리학적(감각과 주의관련), 환경적, 행동학적 요인이 영향을 미칠 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 모바일 환경에서 주로 사용하는 수신모드인 진동모드 설정시, 휴대폰 사용자가 속한 환경에 다른 요인들이 복합적으로 존재할 경우 휴대폰 수신에 대한 탐지만족도가 감소함을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Recently, various interaction was demanded from rapid development and use of portable device. So, operation of touch interface in tablet and smart phone needs many requirements and proactivity. In this paper, for variety of users and convenient interaction, It is aimed to realize virtual reality mouse of portable device. It reflected similar interaction of an existing mouse and it used infrared image without intensity of illumination. Also, It analyzed finger point information of middle and index finger of users and it designed virtual mouse without proactivity and constraint of space.

  • In this paper, we proposed a motion picture processor for using low-cost color super twisted nematic liquid crystal display(CSTN-LCD). The proposed processor apply a new driving scheme using SFP(Subgroup Frame Pattern), so we extends gray scale and eliminates flicker phenomenon. In addition, we apply the BFI (Black Field Insertion) to the design compensated for response time of a LC (Liquid Crystal). We use an edge enhancement and interpolation method to improve image quality of motion picture. The hardware architecture of proposed processor has been implemented and verified on a prototype FPGA board. The proposed method can be used in the display devices such as PDA(Personal Digital Assistants), mobile phone, and PMP(Portable Multimedia Player).

  • As the ubiquitous society period has set in recently, which resulted from both mass distribution of portable devices such as PDA, PMP, Smart Phones, the demand for more optional features of system and multimedia functions has been increasing. In compliance with thoses needs, the amount of information increased in a system and greater power capacities are needed more than ever. Therefore, in portable device which uses battery as a limited source of power, the power management has become a key factor in the system. This paper concentrates on the Power management solution for Smart device for the prevention of missing child. And ARM9 Core was used as CPU and Windows CE 5.0 was ported to the smart device.

  • Power management is a very important issue in portable electronic applications. Portable electronic devices require very efficient power management like LDO to increase the battery life. As the voltage variation of battery power is large in the application of cell phone, camera, laptop, automotive, industry application and so on, battery power is not directly used and LDO is used to supply the power of internal circuit. Besides, LDO can supply DC voltage that is lower than bauer voltage and constant DC voltage that is not related to largely fluctuated battery power. In the study, the power-save mode current and IR-drop characteristics are analyzed from a LDO with on-chip fabricated in 0.18-um CMOS technology.

A Needs Assessment of People with Hearing Impairment for Hearing Augmentation Technology Development: Focusing on Risk Context Awareness Communication (청각증강 기술 개발을 위한 청각장애인의 욕구조사: 위험상황 인식 및 의사소통 분야를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to find the application point of hearing augmentation technology development through examining the risk context experience of people with hearing impairment and the use of assistive device used as an alternative technology. Data of 355 people with hearing impairment with official disability grading was analyzed. The results of this study are first, research participants had no experience of recognizing any sound or vibration in situations highest in the order of means of transportation, material, and nature. Especially the ratio of being unable to recognize the sound and vibration of means of transportation was high, which implies the high possibility of people with hearing impairment experiencing risk. Secondly, the risk context that people with hearing impairment will most likely to experience are highest in the order of traffic accident, pedestrian accident, and daily life at home. Thirdly, the recognition of 2G phone/smart phone, vibrating digital alarm clock, light bar, vibrating wrist watch as assistive device for risk context awareness and notification was high and the satisfaction level of 2G phone/smart phone was the highest. Fourthly, the research participants had high recognition of assistive device for communication in the order of hearing aid, smart phone, videophone, cochlear implant and 2G phone and it was found that the satisfaction level and communication improvement level was the highest using the smart phone. Lastly, for the development of hearing augmentation technology the research participants recognized the importance of portable/wear convenience, price, and motion accuracy and for notification delivery means they preferred the method of using sight(text and light). Based on the results of this study policy and practical plans for hearing augmentation technology development for people with hearing impairment in risk context are proposed.

  • It has become general common sense through numerous researches that exercise provides positive impacts on physical and mental health. And it has been reported that regular exercise adjusts obesity by reducing body fat and lipid levels found in the blood and ultimately, it improves human quality of life. In this study, indices for managing swimming exercise therapy were induced through prior researches and weighted value was measured by modelling correlations between indices by using fuzzy ANP (Analytic Network Process) technique. With the determined results, users can be provided with real-time individualized exercise prescription without space constraint. And patient management system was intended to be realized so that tailor-made management per patient can be established on real-time through mobile equipments such as portable phone, smart phone, notebook and etc.

  • The convergence of IT technology and fashion is a marked trend in recent years induding sportswear, m-dress (mobile phone dress), and wearable computing. Despite continued research and record high development in the field, however, there still are unsettled issues like power supply, fit, washability and mobility when it comes to commercializing technological fashion product. In this context, this thesis is to propose feasible technology effectively applied to a portable bag. The first case is a bag designed to maximize sensitivity for a family who enjoys leisure activities often. The second one is a limited editionHaute Couture style bag targeting single women in their 20s and 30s. These two case studies are an attempt to demonstrate the possibility of applying wearable technology to a product design.

  • Smart hand-held devices like iPhone, iPad, Andriod and other mobile-OS machines are becoming a well known part of our daily lives. Utilization of these devices has gone beyond the expectations of their inventors. Evolution of Apple's iOS from a mobile phone Operating System to a wholesome platform for Portable Gaming is an adequate proof. Using these smart devices people are downloading applications from numerous online App Stores. Utilizing remote storage facilities and confining themselves to computing power far below than an entry level laptop, netbooks have emerged. Google's idea of Chrome OS coupled with Google's AppEngine is an eye-opener for researchers and developers. Keeping all these industry-proven innovations in mind we are proposing a Context-Driven Cloud-Oriented Application Architecture for smart devices. This architecture enables our smart devices to behave smarter by utilizing very less of local resources.
