Development of a Tele-Rehabilitation System for Outcome Evaluation of Physical Therapy

  • This paper presents a portable tele-assessment system designed for remote evaluation of the hypertonic elbow joint of neurologically impaired patients. A patient's upper limb was securely strapped to a portable limb-stretching device which is connected through Internet to a portable haptic device by which a clinician remotely moved the patient's elbow joint and felt the resistance from the patient. Elbow flexion angle and joint torques were measured from both master and slave devices and bilaterally fed back to their counterparts. In order to overcome problems associated with the network latency, two different tele-operation schemes were proposed depending on relative speed of tasks compared to the amount of time delay. For slow movement tasks, the bilateral tele-operation was achieved in real-time by designing control architectures after causality analysis. For fast movement tasks, we used a semi-real-time tele-operation scheme which provided the clinicians with stable and transparent feeling. The tele-assessment system was verified experimentally on patients with stroke. The devices were made portable and low cost, which makes it potentially more accessible to patients in remote areas.

  • The desire of achieving abundant and various information in Web-sites through portable devices is increased as the mobile communication technology is matured. WML(Wireless Markup Language) is the fundamental language to fill up the those desires. The number of commercial WML sites which can be accessed by PCS(Personal Communication System) over the Internet are growing rapidly worldwide. In this paper, a WML authoring tool which can author easily the homepage suitable for PCS is designed and implemented. The usability of the proposed WML authoring tool was confirmed by using UP.SDK simulator over the Internet.

  • WiBro has become intentionally standardize as IEEE 802.16e. This WiBro service has been started by a portable internet at home as well as abroad. In this paper, an offender hacker do not direct attack on system on system that It marched an attack directly in damage system because a place oneself in mobile station of portable internet WiBro and avoid to attack hacker's system. At this time, a mobile make use of network inspection policy for back-tracking based on log data. Used network log audit, and presented TCP/IP bases at log bases as used algorithm, the SWT technique that used Thumbprint Algorithm. Timing based Algorithm, TCP Sequence number. Study of this paper applies algorithm to have been progressed more that have a speed to be fast so that is physical logical complexity of configuration of present Internet network supplements a large disadvantage, and confirm an effective back-tracking system. result of research of this paper contribute to realize a back-tracking technique in ubiquitous in WiBro internet network.

  • In this paper, we have presented the improved IF transceiver architecture and the implementation and experimental results on re-configurable transceiver based on digital IF for multiple wideband OFDM/TDD base stations for high-speed portable internet-service in which is issued Korea. The implemented IF transceiver has been designed to support multiple frequency allocations and multiple standards by only modifying the programmable software not its hardware like as the software-defined-radio concept. Also, the digital complex quadrature modulation technique has been used for the digital IF transmitter, which is able to combine multiple frequency bands in digital processing block not RF block and to reject the image frequency signals. And the bandpass sampling technique has been used for the digital IF receiver to reduce the sampling rate of ADC. This paper has shown the experiment results on the frequency response and constellation on the base-station implemented using the modified IEEE 802.16a/e physical layer channel structure based on OFDM/TDD.

  • Typically, quick and easily deployed communication for a clear disaster management is required in a disaster situation. But it is not easy because lack of backbone network and poor conditions of disaster site. it is possible to obtain a wide service coverage and low power with portable wireless mesh network technology. In this paper, we developed portable wireless mesh network gateway with a network processor and evaluate it's performance including throughput, latency delay, packet loss, etc. The experiments show our wireless mesh network gateway has basic performance and can be used in various environments like disaster site.
