  • This study analyzed the effects of smart phone using for business on work performance in the field. We classified functional and practical aspects of smart phone affecting employee's work performance through former studies. As independent variables, we selected portability of equipment, rapidity of information and ease of use for functional side, and selected fit to work and subjective norms for practical side. And dependent variable was work performance. We also suggested that innovation resistance would be a moderator. The results showed that the effect of work performance was influenced by portability of equipment and fit to work. However, hypotheses on moderating effects of innovation resistance were not supported. This study made a discrimination in terms of an application phase of smart phone as against former studies. The results of this study will provide practical implications for related enterprises in the field to develop ways of using smart phone as an effective strategy.

  • The avionics industry has recently adopted an open architecture to increase software portability and reduce the development schedule and cost associated with changing hardware equipment. This paper presents a data modeling method compliant with FACE, a widely used open avionics architecture. A FACE data model is designed and implemented to output data from VOR/ILS avionics equipment. A FACE Conformance Test Suite (CTS) program is utilised to verify that the data model meets FACE standards. The proposed data modeling method is expected to improve the development schedule and cost associated with modifying communication methods and ICDs (Interface Control Documents).

  • The increasing complexity of avionics systems has emphasized the portability and reusability of software components. In this paper, a structural design method for IOSS (Input Output Service Segment) and TSS (Transport Service Segment) complying with the FACE (The Future Airborne Capability Environment) standard in the VxWorks 653 operating environment that satisfies ARINC 653 requirements is described. IOSS and TSS operate independently in different partitions to minimize time/space separation and the influence of other software, and to increase portability and reusability, strategy patterns among design patterns are applied. In addition, IOSS provides external interface service by applying distributed IO service structure, and among external interfaces, the ARINC 664 P7 interface of FACE-compliant equipment is placed in TSS to optimize the data movement path.

  • Computer Intergrated Manufacturing (CIM) is an emerging technology which aims at the total automation of a manufacturing system. Despite the extensive research on CIM in this decade, total automation seems to be far from reality for many reasons. In this study, the problems of implementing a CIM system are analyzed and a solution method is suggested. A set of software has been developed and tested for a workstation cotroller which controls closely integrated equipment in the low level of a flexible manufacturing system. The functions of the programs are communications between machines and computers and control of workstation scheduling. The software group is developed on IBM OS/2 operating system with 'c' language to enhance the portability. The usage of the software is presented to users through the Presentation Manager which is menu handler of OS/2 system. Although the software is developed for limited machine equipment, the scheme can be adopted to various machines due to the generality.

  • The pressure distribution between body and seat surface has been considered as one of the most important factors which affect seation comfort. The pattern of body pressure distribution has been an index of measuring comfort of an automobile seat. There has been numerous studies that measured the body pressure distribution. But, studies have many problems(pressure distortion, resolution, reliability, portability, usability, and shape fitness) in measuring the body pressure distribution. In this study, the new body pressure distribution measuring equipment has been developed by using the thin, flat, and polymer-film devices known as Force Sensing Resistors(FSRs) in order to solve those problems.

  • This paper describes the design of the monitoring system for monitoring the current status and indirect controlling of the Wet Station Equipment which is used for cleaning the wafer. Most of the conventional monitoring system depend on the special hardware and software. Basic design goal of monitoring system is provide the convenience for the use and the portability for the system. In order for the system to fulfil its requirements, it was designed using GUI (Graphical User Interface) facility based on the windows NT environment of IBM PC compatible and EtherNet board based on the TCP/IP protocol.

  • For quick and accurate ground investigation in wide construction site being not easy to access, advanced dynamic cone penetration test equipment was developed based on widely used equipment abroad. Advantages of existing equipment of portability and simple testing method were reflected in the new developed equipment. Meanwhile, by extending connection of lower rod, penetration depth is raised to 6m from 1 m of the existing equipment. Moreover, by assembly of hammer (2+3+3kg) and cone (3 types) etc., it is possible to perform test under the same conditions with those by German and Japan dynamic cone penetration test equipment (Tsukuba, PWRI and SH types). Auxiliary equipment was applied to make sure of perpendicularity as penetration depth increases. Applicability of the new developed equipment was evaluated through tests on various fields and its reliability was verified.

  • In this study, a fluidized bed particle generator was developed to generate an aerosol without supply of compressed air and to increase portability. It was assumed that the mixing ratio of the test particles and beads, the input amount, and the air flow rate supplied to the generator would have effect on the aerosol generation characteristics. The product of these three parameters was set as a characteristic parameter and particle generation characteristics according to the change of the characteristic parameter were observed. As a result, it was confirmed that the input amount of test particles and beads was not suitable as a characteristic parameter and a characteristic parameter expressed as a product of the mass mixing ratio and the air flowrate was newly defined. When the new characteristic parameter is applied, it can be confirmed that the total amount of particles generated from the particle generator is a function of the characteristic parameter. As a result of measuring the amount of particle generation by adjusting the characteristic parameter, it was confirmed that the performance required for the test particle generator for the field inspection equipment of PM-2.5 sensors could be satisfied.

  • The continuing development of the information technology industry and wireless networking has increased the use of mobile device, which provides both portability and mobility. As follows, demands for extended services within the wireless Internet are increasing rapidly. Because it still in its initial stages of development, the wireless Internet presents continuing problems in security and limitations in the content of services. Furthermore, most mobile equipment utilizes the touch pad input method. This input method is inconvenient when a user needs to input a long sentence. This has led to the more convenient development of image selection by using a pen mouse. In order to provide security under these conditions, a HASH code may be used to transmit an array of information and input values, created by the image input at the early stages. Thus, authentication and key exchange are completed securely. Messages are encoded and transmitted, preventing both information drain by insiders and interference from outside.

  • Developing control functions that operate and cooperate each equipment in order to achieve a goal is one of the most important problems in the installation of automated manufacturing systems. This paper discusses the development of a control system for heterarchical architecture and a simulator to verify operations of the control system. The object-oriented paradigm that has excellent reusability, portability, and extensibility is currently being used in many application fields as a software development methodology. Especially, UML(Unified Modeling Language), the third generation object-oriented modeling methodology, has advantages such as model generalization, clearness, and so on. In this research, software objects to accomodate the real time environments of automated manufacturing systems are modeled with the diagrams of UML. Based on these models, control software is developed as a format of pseudo-codes. A simulator is implemented to validate the developed control system.
