  • As competition between companies increases in the international market, a stronger Management Information System that can support all areas of the business is needed According to this trend, more and more companies are introducing Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP) to construct a Management Information System In this study, ERP module composition direction suitable for shipping companies were proposed through theoretical review and case studies.

Estimation of Users' Waiting Cost at Container Terminals in Northern Vietnam

  • Container terminals in Northern Vietnam have recorded an impressive development in recent years. This development, however, also raises a fierce competition among local container terminals to attract customers. Beside the handling charges, the vessels' waiting cost is also an important factor that drive the opinion of users in choosing appropriate terminal. This research plans to estimate the waiting cost in different container terminals in Northern Vietnam by building regression equation that describe the relationship between the rate of throughput/capacity and waiting cost/TEU. Queuing theory with the application of Poisson distibution is used to estimate the waiting time of arrival vessels and uncertainty theory is applied to estimate the vessel's daily expenses. Previous studies suggested two different formation of the equation and according to the research results, cubic equation is more suitable in the given case. The research results are also useful for further research which require calculation of waiting cost per TEU in each container terminal in Northern Vietnam.

Comparison between the Korean and Japanese Costume Systems since Port Opening Treaties in Nineteenth Century (19세기 개항이후 한.일 복식제도 비교)

  • The purpose of this study is to research the Korean and Japanese costume systems and to compare both of them on the process of adopting the western-originated costumes. The consequences of this study are as follows. Chosen and Japan started simplifying the traditional clothings, Introducing the western clothings and executed the ordinance prohibitory topknots through reforming costume systems since Port Opening Treaties in 19th centra. Japan performed the reformation of costume system effectively through the grand campaign of social reforming enlightment by Meiji Government. Meanwhile in Korea, there were a continual repetition of adoption and rejection in the reformation of costume systems because of strong cultural self-esteem and competition of foreign Empires. However, western-originated cultural perspectives brought the strong self-devaluated view on their own cultures to both countries. And that's the first cause of substitution of western clothings for ordinary ones in both nations.

  • Currently, container transport services play a substantial role in global cargo transportation, by serving as an intermodal between exporter and importer. Container shipping has become increasingly important over the past few decades, due to obvious advantages. However, Vietnam's container market has shown severely ongoing competition among numerous domestic and foreign shipping lines, resulting in serious consequences occurring such as freight rates substantially decreasing within the last 10 years. Vietnam's sea lanes have become more defensive, to cover losses of shipping companies. Selection of criteria for competitive evaluation of container transport companies is necessary, to facilitate addressing the problems within the enterprise, especially relating to its position in the market and from here, business management can implement strategic plans and reasonable policy, to survive and grow.

  • This study deals sith some problems of foreign direct investment and seeks for the ways of activating foreign direct investment (hereafter F.D.I.) by analyzing the Korean economic structure that is faced with the neo-protectivism and nationalism of the advanced or foreign countries currently. During a transformational process in the transitional period of world trade environment, it is necessary for Korea not only to learn the higher technology for advanced countries, but also to apply techonology to their economic structure in order to enter into competition with the advanced countries. Based on the experiences and accomplishments from their investments, Korean enterprises should turn their business into F.D.I. and act appropriately in order to keep the balance between indoor and outdoor investment.   • The expansion of old road is needed in constructing the entrance at the $\bigcirc$$\bigcirc$I/C road in $\bigcirc$$\bigcirc$city. To strength the national competition, many agents who concerned do their best for finishing that construction early as soon as possible. In generally, soil embankment on soft foundation is caused to reduce the stability by making the settlement of ground surface due to the over load. Thus, we try to make it stable by building EPS embankment construction which in our working place is one kind of the method of light embankment construction after excavating the original ground.

  • With the fast developing pace, the Galileo system is entering the navigation stage with high profile. At the same time, U.S. is accelerating his GPS modernization schedule, and Russian also begins to resuscitate their GLONASS. Moreover, Chinese Beidou system has also joined the satellite navigation family with low profile already. And of course Japanese QZSS even moves forward. Along with the bitter competition in technology, finance, market and even military affairs, all these systems will firmly benefit each other and massively extend the role of civil satellite navigation industry in the future. The Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) would be almost certain to include above major satellite navigation systems. Thus how to utilize the navigation satellite resource for world peace and promote the progress of mankind should be the key issue of this century.

Improvement of the Parallel Importation Logistics Process Using Big Data

  • South Korea has allowed parallel importation since 1995. Parallel importation causes competition among importers in the logistics process allowing, consumers to purchase foreign brand products at low prices. Most parallel importers base product pricing on subjective judgements. Fashion products in particular, have different sales rates depending on trends and seasons, so sales performance varies greatly depending on selling price timing and policy. The merchandiser (MD) set the price on parallel importation products by aggregating information on imported products and pricing goods. However, this customized process is very time consuming for the MD. This is because the logistics process of parallel importation's customs clearance procedures and repair works is complicated and takes a significant amount of time. In this paper, we propose an improved parallel importation logistics process based on big data, which automatically sets the price of parallel importation products.
