  • Generation MZ has emerged as a significant consumer segment and trendsetter in the fashion market of South Korea. Fashion designer brands have become popular among this generation by offering a range of fashion content on social network services (SNS) based on fresh and trendy designs. Despite the growing market share of fashion designer brands in the industry, previous research has mainly focused on brand personality in line with the characteristics of traditional fashion brands. Therefore, this study aims to derive brand personality and SNS characteristics of fashion designer brands based on previous research and investigate the influence of these factors on brand preference and behavioral intention. Moreover, it examines how this influencing mechanism fluctuates based on the consumer type (i.e., innovative type vs. price-sensitive type). Based on an online survey of 256 Korean adults with experience in fashion designer brands, this study identified the influencing mechanisms on purchase intention and word-of-mouth intention. This study contributes to empirical investigations of consumer brand preference and behavior intention in fashion designer brands through the brand equity model. It also offers insight into developing a segmented brand strategy by considering the variations in the influence mechanism of behavioral intention across different consumer types.

  • Collaborative filtering is a popular technique used for the recommendation system, but its performance, especially the accuracy of recommendation, depends on how to define the reference group. This paper proposes a new contents recommendation scheme based on collaborative filtering technique whose reference groups are created by consumer's affection and consumption type in order to improve the accuracy of recommendation. In this paper, joy, sadness, anger, happiness, and relax are considered as the consumer's affection. And, low-utility / low-pleasure, low-utility / high-pleasure, high-utility / low-pleasure, and high-utility / high-pleasure are considered as the consumer's shopping types. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme improves the accuracy of recommendation compared to the recommendation scheme considering neither consumer's affection nor consumption type.

  • Group buying is one of the most popular transaction patterns on the internet at least in Korea. Nevertheless, it is hard to find academic researches for it in view of consumer behavior. In this paper, we analyze factors which determine consumer's attitude toward and intention of participation in Internet group buying by comparison of Internet individual one. For this purpose, we propose “lowering price”, “decreasing risk” and “reducing transaction cost” as relative advantages and "lack of product assortment" and "delay of time" as relative disadvantages over individual buying on the Internet. For empirical test, Internet users who have some experiences of individual buying but not group ones on the Internet are surveyed and analyzed. In result, a satisfying model fitness for structural equation model is derived and most hypotheses except the relationship between "decreasing risk" and "attitude toward Internet group buying" are accepted. Our results provide not only academic contribution by suggestion of a research framework but also practical insight by discussion of diverse features in Internet group buying.verse features in Internet group buying.

This research analyzes consumer preferences in changeable design options for convertible dresses and the consumers' influence on environmentally responsible apparel consumption (ERC) behaviors on their preferences regarding changeable design options of dresses, which are popular items. An online survey collected data from a convenient sample of 321 female college students from four universities in the United States. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS through descriptive analysis, cluster analysis, and independent samples t-test. There were significant differences between high and low ERC groups in design preferences that considered important aspects of purchasing, using convertible dresses, and purchase intentions. Detailed differences among sub-groups were analyzed. Designers are encouraged to make tying/folding/wrapping dresses with changes of size/fit, dress length, or color/pattern. The results are beneficial for apparel designers when developing convertible dresses with the guidance of consumers' design preferences and differences according to ERC levels.
