Polyaniline (PANI) nanospheres, 4 run in diameter, were fabricated by the microemulsion polymerization of octyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (OTAB). The size of the PANI nanoparticles could be controlled as functions of the surfactant concentration, surfactant spacer length and polymerization temperature. The diameter of the PANI nanospheres decreased with increasing surfactant concentration and decreasing temperature. The PANI nanoparticles revealed enhanced conductivity compared to conventional bulk PANIs. In addition, the PANI nanoparticles could be applied as optically transparent conducting materials due to their high conductivity and the nanosize effect. With 9 wt% PANI in the PC matrix, the PANI/PC film exhibited a conductivity of $8.9\times10^{-3}S/cm$ and transparency exceeding 95% over the entire visible light range.
Polyaniline (PANI)/Polyimide (PI) membranes were prepared and the effects of PANI contents and doping on the structural properties and gas separation properties were studied. The polyamic acid (PAA) solution was prepared by the polycondensation reaction of 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene) diphthalic anhydride (6FDA) and 4,4'-oxydianiline (ODA) in 1-methyl-2-pyrrolydinone (NMP) solvent. The PANI/PI blends were obtained by mixing PAA solution and PANI solution, and were doped with 1 M aqueous HCl solution for 24 h. The structural characterizations of the as-cast and doped membranes were examined by FT-IR, XRD, and TGA. The gas permeation experiments with $H_2$, $CO_2$, $O_2$, $N_2$, and $CH_4$ were carried out by variable pressure method at $30^{\circ}C$ and 5 atm. For all gases tested, the permeability coefficients of the blends decreased with increasing PANI content and the magnitude of permeability was in the order of $H_2$ > $CO_2$ > $O_2$ > $N_2$ > $CH_4$. The permeability for PANI/PI membranes decreased after the doping process while the permselectivity increased. For $H_2/CH_4$ separation, the doped PANI/PI (75/25) membrane has a permselectivity of 991.
(1S)-(+)-10-camphorsulfonic acid (CSA) and HCl were used together as a binary dopant in the electrodeposition of polyaniline (PAni). (+)-CSA and HCl were added in different mole ratios (9:1 and 6:4). (+)-CSA-doped and binary-doped PAni exhibited markedly different ultraviolet-visible and circular dichroism spectral characteristics due to differences in their conformations. Distinct helical structures are observed in the scanning electron microscopy images of (+)-CSA-doped PAni. The X-ray diffraction pattern of (+)-CSA-doped PAni exhibited remarkably higher crystallinity than that of HCl-doped PAni which is associated with the helical ordering along the polymer chains. The conformational changes due to the binary doping in chiral PAni had a significant effect on its chiroptical and electrochemical properties, morphology, and crystallinity, thus determined its conductivity.
Polyaniline (PANi)/Poly(ethylene of oxide) (PEO) in-situ blends were prepared by inducing phase separation through solvent evaporation after casting from solutions containing aniline monomer, oxidant (initiator), dopant and PEO in methanol/water mixed solvent. It was observed that the electrical conductivity first increases rapidly as PANi amount in the PANi/PEO blend increases and then slowly increases as the weight percentages of polyaniline become above 11 wt% in the blend. We also noted that the morphology of PANi/PEO blends changes when the holding time in a stirrer at constant temperature is varied and eventually affects the electrical conductivity. As the length of alkyl group in dopants increases, the electrical conductivity of doped blends increases. The PANi/PEO blend prepared with a high molecular weight of PEO yields higher electrical conductivity.

We have synthesized poly(3-hexylthiophene)(P3HT), which is the most famous conducting polymer and studied the optical properties of P3HT. And then fabricated the device using P3HT as an emitting layer. For the improve of hole injection from ITO electrode to P3HT emitting layer, we use transparent polyaniline(PANI) electrode. In the voltage-current-luminance characteristics of ITO/PANI/P3HT/LiF/Al device which use the PANI film synthesised during 5 cycle, the device turn on at the 2V and the luminance of $218nW/cm^{2}$ obtained at 12V. External quantum efficiency of ITO/PANI/P3HT/LiF/Al increased at 8V than that of ITO/P3HT/LiF/Al device.

Bi-layer and tri-layer structures of electro-active paper(EAPap) using conductive polyaniline(PANI) coating were investigated to improve bending displacement of cellulose EAPap. Two different counter ions, perchlorate($CIO_4^-$) and tetrafluoroborate($BF_4^-$), are used as dopant ions in the PANI processing. The actuation performances of hi-layer and tri-layer structure are evaluated in terms of tip displacement, blocked force, strain energy density and power output density. The actuation performance of the tri-layer actuator was better than the hi-layer structure, and the maximum displacement and blocked force of tri-layer $CIO_4^-$ doped-PANI-EAPap were 13.2 mm and 0.15 mN, respectively. Also the power output of the actuator is similar to the required power of biological muscle application.
New types of conducting polyaniline-polymannuronate (PANI-PM) composites were synthesized by in situ deposition techniques in an aqueous media. By dissolving different weight percentage of polymannuronate (PM) (5, 10, 15, and 25%), the oxidative polymerization of aniline was carried out using ammonium per sulfate as an oxidant. The obtained composites were studied for their thermal stability and electrochemical behavior. The thermal stability of PANI-PM composites is lower than PANI, which supports a strong interaction between PANI and PM. However, the composites show an appreciable electrochemical behavior. Based on these observation the PANI-PM composites can be explored in different fields such as electric devices, sensors, functional coatings, etc.
The rheological property of hollow PANI malonate suspension in silicone oil was investigated by varying the electric fields and shear rates, respectively. The hollow PANI malonate susepnsion showed a typical electrorheological (ER) response caused by the polarizability of an amide polar group and shear yield stress due to the formation of chains upon application of an electric field. The shear stress for the hollow PANI malonate suspension exhibited an electric field power of 0.90. On the basis of the experimental results, the newly synthesized hollow PANI malonate suspension was found to be an anhydrous ER fluid.

Polyaniline (PANi) composite particles were synthesized by chemical oxidation polymerization of aniline in presence of poly-n-isopropyl acryl amide (PNIPAM). The PANi particles formed in the reaction medium deposited onto non-conducting PNIPAM template to produce PANi-coated composite particles. The formation of composite was confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy, and UV-VIS spectroscopy, and their morphological structures were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). From the experimental results, it was determined that PANi was successfully coated onto non-conducting PNIPAM.
