Here, we reported mass-produced organic nanowires with uniform sizes based on poly(9,9-dioctylflurorene) (PFO), poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene-co-benzothiadiazole) (F8BT), (regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) which are well known as organic semiconductors for opto/electronics applications, using a melt-assisted wetting method with anodic alumina membrane. The conjugated polymer nanowires showed uniformed diameters (D=250~300 nm) and lengths ($L={\sim}30{\mu}m$) with defect free smooth surface regardless of a kinds of semiconductors. In addition, the nanowires were uniformly deposited onto glass substrates by spray-coating method. Under the UV light irradiation, PFO and F8BT nanowires showed blue and yellow emissions, respectively.
In heterojunction photovoltaic devices of $ITO/TiO_2/poly$(3-alkylthiophene)/Au, the photo current was characterized at different temperatures for different alkyl chain lengths and regioregularities: regiorandom, regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene), and regioregular poly(3-dodecylthiophene). The regioregularity and alkyl chain length affected the photovoltaic characteristics due to differences in hole-carrier transportation. The drift charge mobilities of these devices were analyzed by the space-charge-limited current theory using the relation between the dark current and the bias voltage. The photocurrent in the devices based on poly(3-alkylthiophene)s decreased rapidly below the temperature at which the drift charge mobility was $10^{-5}\;cm^2/V{\cdot}s$.

We studied on possibility of the application of photolithography technique to patterning the organic active layer poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT). In the case of selective etching method, we made thin oxide film on P3HT thin film using $O_2$ treatment. We achieved the field-effect mobilities in the saturation regime ${\sim}1.2{\times}10^{-3}\;cm^2/V{\cdot}s$, $I_{on/off}$ ratios ${\sim}10^5$ in the selective etching method, ${\sim}7.4{\times}10^{-4}cm^2/V{\cdot}s$, $I_{on/off}$ ratios ${\sim}5{\times}10^3$ in the lift-off one. These values are higher than ones of the unpatterned P3HT-based OTFTs. On the basis of the above results, we demonstrate the photolithographic patterning for P3HT active layer is successfully carried out without degradation of P3HT.

We observed the temperature-dependent evolution and behavior of P3HT type-II phase during a real time annealing process from a cryo-cooled low temperature in the absence and presence of an Al electrode. A poly (3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) Type-II phase in the P3HT:PCBM films started to form near at $-10^{\circ}C$, regardless of Al layer presence. In the absence of an Al layer, type-II phase was extinct at $30^{\circ}C$. However, the extinction temperature was extended to $50^{\circ}C$ in the presence of the Al layer. Simultaneously, combined with the type-II phase, a 1:3 ordered P3HT type-II (1/3,0,0) super-lattice peak evolved. These type-II domains tended to be formed near the Al electrode layer with higher aligned status than host P3HT crystals.
Film thickness dependent nanostructure evolution by a post annealing was investigated in poly (3-hexylthiophene):phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester(P3HT:PCBM) films for organic solar cells which were fabricated by dichlorobenzene(DCB) solvent. In case of a 70nm thin film, the thermal annealing process affected to slight increment of the P3HT crystals in the surface region. On the other hand, large number of small sized P3HT crystals near the surface region was formed in the 200nm thick film. The solar cell devices showed the 3% power conversion efficiency(PCE) in 1:0.65 and 1:1 ratio(by weight) of P3HT and PCBM in 70nm and 200nm thickness conditions, respectively. Despite to the similar PCE, the short circuit current Jsc was different in 70nm and 200nm devices, which was related to the different nanostructure of P3HT:PCBM after thermal annealing.

Poly(vinyl chloride)-g-poly(oxyethylene methacrylate) (PVC-g-POEM) graft copolymer was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and used as an electrolyte for electrochromic device. Plasticized polymer electrolytes were prepared by the introduction of propylene carbonate (PC)/ethylene carbonate (EC) mixture as a plasticizer. The effect of salt was systematically investigated using lithium tetrafluoroborate ($LiBF_4$), lithium perchlorate ($LiClO_4$), lithium iodide (LiI) and lithium bistrifluoromethanesulfonimide (LiTFSI). Wide angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements showed that the structure and glass transition temperature ($T_g$) of polymer electrolytes were changed due to the coordinative interactions between the ether oxygens of POEM and the lithium salts, as supported by FT-IR spectroscopy. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed that the microphase-separated structure of PVC-g-POEM was not greatly disrupted by the introduction of PC/EC and lithium salt. The plasticized polymer electrolyte was applied to the electrochromic device employing poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) conducting polymer.
By using optimum doping ratio (10 ~ 20 wt%) of glycerol, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic photovoltaic devices based on poly (3-hexylthiophene) and phenyl-$C_{61}$-butyric acid methyl ester was dramatically increased from 3.23% to 5.03%. Finally, semitransparent organic photovoltaic devices including glycerol doped poly (3,4-ethylenedioxy-thiophene):poly (styrene sulfonate) and thin Ag (< 1 nm) buffer layer typically have shown PCE > 3% with transmittance > 30% in visible ranges.

The performance of polymer photovoltaic cells based on blends of poly(3-hexylyhiophene) (P3HT) and phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) is strongly influenced by blend composition and thickness. Polymer photovoltaic cells based on bulk-heterojunction have been fabricated with a structure of ITO/poly(3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS)-pentacene/poly (3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT):phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM)/Al. We have prepared PEDOT:PSS by dissolving pentacene in N-methylpyrrolidine (NMP) and mixing with PEDOT:PSS. Pentacene was added a maximum concentration of approximately 5.5mg to the PEDOT:PSS solution and sonicated for 10 min. Active layer (P3HT:PCBM) (1:1) was strongly influenced by PEDOT:PSS-pentacene. We have investigated the performance of photovoltaic device with different concentration of P3HT:PCBM (1:1) 2.0wt%, 2.2wt%, 2.4wt% and 2.6wt%, respectively. The photocurrent and power conversion efficiency (PCE) showed a maximum between 2.0wt% and 2.2wt% concentration of P3HT:PCBM. This implied that both morphology and electron transport properties of the layer influenced the performance of the present photovoltaic cells. As the concentration of P3HT:PCBM blends as an active layer was increased, the power conversion efficiency was decreased. P3HT:PCBM layer and PEDOT:PSS-pentacene layer were characterized by work function, UV-visible absorption, atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM).
In this study, we have investigated the power conversion efficiency of organic solar cells utilizing conjugated polymer/fullerene bulk-hetero junction(BHJ) device structures. We have fabricated poly(3-hexylthiophene)(P3HT), poly[2methoxy-5-(3',7'-dimethyloctyl-oxy)-1-4-phenylenevinylene] as an electron donor, [6,6]-phenyl $C_{61}$ butyric acid methylester(PCBM-$C_{61}$)as an electron acceptor, and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrenesulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS) used as a hole injection layer(HIL), after fabricated active layer, between active layer and metal cathode(Al) deposited LiF interlayer(5 nm). The properties of fabricated organic solar cell(OSC) devices have been analyzed as a function of different thickness. The electrical characteristics of the fabricated devices were investigated by means J-V, fill factor(FF) and power conversion efficiency(PCE). We observed the highest PCEs of 0.628%(MDMO-PPV:PCBM-$C_{61}$) and 2.3%(P3HT:PCBM-$C_{61}$) with LiF inter-layer at the highest thick active layer, which is 1.3times better than the device without LiF inter-layer.
