Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the distribution of stages of adoption in stomach cancer screening and elucidate differences among stages. Methods: A randomly selected sample of 712 Korean males and females aged 40 years or over were interviewed. Stomach cancer screening intention and behavior, sociodemographic characteristics, beliefs, self-efficacy and reinforcing characteristics were assessed. Results: The majority of participants were not on-schedule screening(unaware 3.2%, unengaged 20.8%, deciding about acting 24.0%, decided not to act 9.6%, decided to act 14.5%, acting 9.7%, maintenance 18.3%). Perceived susceptibility, perceived barriers, self-efficacy, other cancer screening experiences were significantly associated with higher compared to lower Precaution Adoption Process Model(PAPM) stages. Conclusions: This study appears to be applicable of the Precaution Adoption Process Model to understanding stomach cancer screening behavior. Our results suggest that it is needed to develop the tailored message for adherence of stomach cancer screening.
To improve the understanding and predicting power of littering behavior in natural recreation areas, a model was proposed based on the theory of reasoned action by Fishbein and Ajzen. Among the visitors of Kaeryongsan National Park in Korea, three hundred and ninety nine (399) groups were interviewed to obtain such data as beliefs about the behavioral consequences, attitudes, normative belief, socioeconomic status and etc. A significant but practically weak relationship was found between beliefs, normative belief and past behavior (R=0.3). Using Logit analysis, past behavior could be explained with relevant variables in an acceptable power ($R^2$=0.35). In the model, education, social group, occupation, age and visiting frequency were all negatively related to past behabavior. Beliefs and normative belief also behaved as expected by the theory. The study results show that the theory may be useful in predicting the undesirable behaviors in recreation areas and establishing management policy to control them. The cause of weak relationships between relevant variables were discussed and future research implications were also suggested.
This study was to investigate the factors influencing colorectal cancer(CRC) screening behavior using the health belief model(HBM). It was a descriptive cross-sectional survey. A total of 148 adults aged 50 or older participants were surveyed using structured questionnaires including general characteristics,, health beliefs, and behavioral variables. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, chi-square test and multiple logistic regression using SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. The significant factors influecing CRC screening behavior were perceived sensitivity, spousal experience of CRC screening and family history. Therefore, in order to improve the CRC screening rate, it is necessary to increase the perceived sensitivity through systematic education about the importance of early CRC screening. In addition, it is necessary to assess the spousal screening experience and the family history of subjects and to develop the education program using the partnership of the couple.
This study examined the factors that influence the use of YouTube-based home training contents by integrating and applying the technology acceptance model and health belief model. The main results are as follows. First of all, it was found that personal innovativeness had a positive (+) effect on perceived ease and perceived usefulness. Perceived susceptibility did not have a significant effect on perceived usefulness, and perceived benefit had a positive (+) effect on perceived usefulness. Finally, it was found that perceived ease had a positive (+) effect on perceived usefulness, Both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness were found to have a positive (+) effect on continuous intention to use. This study will be meaningful in that it partially reconfirmed the possibility of integrating the technology acceptance model and the health belief model.
Since the outbreak of Covid-19, many countries have tried to defense Covid-19 to protect their people and as an influential and reliable policy as of now, they have recommended vaccinating. Thus, this research explored what influences the intention to vaccinate against Covid-19 with three health locus of control from multi-dimension health locus of control (MHLC) and perceived susceptibility and severity from health belief model (HBM) through PLS path modeling. Consequently, chance locus of control (CHLC) influence indirectly intention to vaccinate against Covid-19 mediating with susceptibility perception. It implies that the more fatalistic people attitude toward Covid-19, the more susceptible they perceived to the disease, and then, the stronger intention to vaccinate they would have. Thus, the health promotion authorities should motivate to activate people's susceptibility perception toward the disease through utilizing a variety of policies and consider that the fatalistic tendency toward the disease of people could play an antecedent role in the process.
A considerable amount of research has been directed at subsistence markets in the recent past with the belief that these markets can be tapped profitably by marketers. Consequently, such markets have seen the launch of a number of innovative products. However, marketers of such forecasts need timely and accurate forecasts regarding the diffusion of their products. The Bass model has been widely used in marketing management to forecast diffusion of innovative products. Given the idiosyncrasies of subsistence markets, such forecasting requires an understanding of effective estimation techniques of the Bass model and their use in subsistence markets. This article reviews the literature to achieve this objective and find out gaps in research. A finding is that there is a lack of timely estimates of Bass model parameters for marketers to act on. Consequently, this article sets a research agenda that calls for timely forecasts at the takeoff stage using appropriate estimation techniques for the Bass model in the context of subsistence markets.
This study examines the implications on the valuations of privately held firms when stakes are acquired by venture capitalists in India. In addition, the effect of fund size and revenue multiple is considered as a determinant of firm value. The study is based on a sample of 1229 rounds of funding during the period 2007-2015. The data was obtained from Venture Intelligence. Three major observations emerged based on an OLS regression. Firstly, it is observed that the stake acquired by venture capitalists has a negative effect on firm value. It supports the belief that when a firm reaches its maximum valuation from the promoter's perspective, there is a tendency to liquidate additional stakes. Secondly, a positive association between the revenue multiple and valuation is recognized. Thirdly, the convex relationship (U-shaped) between the fund size and firm valuations as seen in the case of developed economies, appears to be non-existent in India.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to obtain basal information to establish a proper birth-encouraging policy in the future through the survey of the attitude towards childbirth and its related factors among female students in junior, senior high school, and university. Methods: A survey was performed for 2 weeks in June, 2006, for a total of 688 female students which included 185 ones in a girls' junior high school and 242 ones in a girls' senior high school in Sacheon, and 261 ones in two universities in Jinju. The selfadministered questionnaires developed by the authors included the socio-demographic characteristics, the attitude towards childbirth, the preference of a son for their future child, the belief on relative importance of family or work after marriage, the seriousness perception of low birth rate in Korea, frequencies of education in school about low birth rate. The attitude was measured by an answer to the question of 'To what degree do you think you are going to have a child(or children)?' Results: The proportion of positive attitude towards their future childbirth was 76.2% in junior high school, 63.9% in high school, and 82.8% in university students (p<0.01). In the logistic regression analysis, the significant factors related with positive attitude towards future childbirth were school grade, preference of a son for their future children, and belief on relative importance of family or work after marriage. Conclusions: It suggests that the related factors with positive attitude towards future childbirth need to be considered to make a proper birth policy.
An internal and external threat against an information system has increased, and to reduce it, organization has spent a great deal of money and manpower. However, in spite of such investment, security threat and trouble have happened continuously. Organization has conducted information security activity through various policies. The study classified such activities into prevention-oriented activity and control-oriented activity, and researched how information security activity of organization affects members of an organization and obeys information security policy by using health belief model. As a result of the study, prevention-oriented activity has a meaningful impact on seriousness, and this seriousness affects compliance intention for information security. Control-oriented activity has a meaningful impact on benefits, and the benefits have an effect on compliance intention. When an organization conducts prior activities such as education, PR, and monitoring, this organization should emphasize negative results that can happened because of deviation. In addition, in case of exposure and punishment through post activities such as inspection and punishment, if the organization emphasizes the positive effects of exposure and punishment rather than emphasis of negative parts, information security activity will be more effective.

Purpose: This study examined a comprehensive model for assessing the success probability of electric vehicle (EV) commercialization in the Korean market. The study identified three risks associated with successful commercialization which were technology, social, policy, environmental, and consumer risk. Research design, methodology: The assessment of the riskiness was represented by a Bayes belief network, where the probability of success at each stage is conditioned on the outcome of the preceding stage. Probability of success in each stage is either dependent on input (i.e., investment) or external factors (i.e., air quality). Initial input stages were defined as the levels of investment in product R&D, battery technology, production facilities and battery charging facilities. Results: Reasonable levels of investment were obtained by expert opinion from industry experts. Also, a survey was carried out with 78 experts consisting of automaker engineers, managers working at EV parts manufacturers, and automobile industry researchers in government think tanks to obtain the conditional probability distributions. Conclusion: The output of the model was the likelihood of success - expressed as the probability of market acceptance - that depended on the various input values. A model is a useful tool for understanding the EV industry as a whole and explaining the likely ramifications of different investment levels.
