Equity-focused public health policy has solid theoretical and practical basis, in addition to ethical one. In the Republic of Korea (hereafter Korea), however, equity in health has not had a high priority in policy goals, regardless of policy areas and particular actors or approaches. Equitable health has been only a minor concern in most public health issues and their decision-making. Generic public health policies are needed to reduce inequity in health, but the importance of a firm basis for sound policy-making cannot be overemphasized. Health equity should be 'mainstreamed' in all public health policies. Potential approaches include intersectoral collaboration, health impact assessment, and 'Health in All Policies.' Public policy agendas for equitable health cannot be formulated without measurement and recognition of the problem. Korea is still suffering from the lack of reliable information on the current status of health inequity, resulting in a relatively weak awareness of the problem among both the general public and policy-makers. More information is needed to increase recognition and awareness that will increase intervention and actions. The absence of decision-making and actions should not be justified even by the lack of information on determinants and pathways of health inequities. Generic plausible solutions can often work in the real world according to political and social commitment. I have discussed several aspects of public health policy from the perspective of health equity, focusing on current status and plausible explanation. Policy process, agenda setting in particular, is highlighted and theories and concepts are presented along with analysis and description of current situation.

This study aims to analyze the effects of the Agricultural Ecological Environment Program, the first agri-environmental policy in Korea. To this end, as Janghyeon in Boryeong City and Hwaam in Cheongyang County were set up as experimental group. And similar to these villages nearby, Hwangryong in Boryeong and Gideok in Cheongyang have been set up as the control group. It compared and analyzed the farms' level and structure of awareness. The main results of the study can be summarized as follows. First, the Agricultural Ecological Environment Program improved the awareness of safe agricultural product cultivation and agricultural ecological environment stabilize. However, the contribution to the formation of rural community has not been statistically significant. Second, it was found that the farms clearly distinguish and recognize the safe agricultural products cultivation, the agricultural ecological environment stabilize, and the formation of rural community. On the other hand, it was found that the control group that did not participate in the agricultural ecological and environmental program was confused on the recognition of three things or did not recognize them. To summarized, the future agri-environmental policy can be grafted onto regional development policy. So, the areas of agri-environmental policy should include both agriculture and rural. In addition, the scientific discipline and movement approach should be all used also in the method of approach.
Background: We determined the differences in awareness of myocardial infarction and stroke according to the presence or absence of diabetes mellitus in the community. Methods: The 2018 Community Health Survey identified 20,812 people with diabetes mellitus aged 40-79 years. Using 1:1 matching by propensity score, 20,812 people without diabetes mellitus but with similar sociodemographic characteristics were selected as a comparison. Outcome variables were awareness of early symptoms of myocardial infarction and stroke and awareness of coping strategies in case of occurrence. Results: There was no significant difference between nondiabetic and diabetic people in terms of recognizing all early symptoms of myocardial infarction (nondiabetic, 42.7%; diabetic, 43.0%; p=0.43) and stroke (nondiabetic, 49.4%; diabetic, 49.4%; p=0.91). In addition, no significant difference was found between nondiabetic and diabetic people in the proportion of knowing correct emergency response to myocardial infarction (nondiabetic, 84.6%; diabetic, 84.4%; p=0.56) and stroke (nondiabetic, 81.3%; diabetic, 81.4%; p=0.77). Conclusion: Since people with diabetes are at greater risk of cardiovascular disease than the general public, it is important to lower the risk of disability and death by improving their awareness of early symptoms and correct emergency response to myocardial infarction and stroke.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between oral health awareness symptoms and academic stress in some high school girls and to find out existing improvement plans. Objectives: To confirm the awareness of child abuse and attitudes toward mandatory reporting among dental hygiene students in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions. Methods: The level of awareness of child abuse according to general characteristics, attitudes toward reporting obligation, and awareness of the mandatory reporting system were analyzed using t-test or one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) analysis, and correlation was analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: Awareness of child abuse was 3.76, 3.68, 3.67, and 3.18 points for neglect, sexual abuse, physical, and emotional abuse, respectively. The attitude toward reporting obligation were 3.60 and 2.62 points for positive and negative reporting attitudes, respectively. Regarding awareness of child abuse, a significant positive correlation was observed between positive reporting attitude (r=0.326, p<0.01) and awareness of mandatory reporting system (r=0.272, p<0.01). Conclusions: To increase the reporting rate among dental hygienists, awareness should be improved starting from the undergraduate level, perceptions of prospective dental hygienists should be reflected in the development and direction of educational programs, and it is necessary to increase accessibility to educational opportunities and continuously seek institutional and policy measures.
The purpose of this study is to present the base for activation policy for cost estimation guidelines of e-Learning content development. To achieve this purpose, this study investigates the effectiveness of cost estimation guidelines of e-Learning content development through a survey about executives and employees in the e-Learning industry and analyses them statistically. According to an analysis, companies(which abandoned order because the amount of money (cost) of e-Learning contents ordering is low and suffered a loss after acquiring e-Learning contents project order) have a relatively negative awareness about the effectiveness of cost estimation guidelines of e-Learning contents. On the other hand, contents focused companies have a relatively positive awareness about the effectiveness of cost estimation guidelines of e-Learning contents. In conclusion, this study suggests that government should recommend and enact announce the use of cost estimation criteria(guidelines) of e-Learning content development and provide the institutional tools soon as possible.
In order to effectively attain the objectives of an organization, it is important for the leader to provide an environment where members can co-exist and mutually advance, and also to have an emotional impact on them. This study examines the structural relationship among emotional intelligence in leadership, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, turnover intention, and organizational performance effects of emotional leadership in the nursing profession of a general hospital. A structured questionnaire was sent to 550 nurses in 11 general hospitals in Seoul Metropolitan City, among which 350 responses were used in the analysis. The independent variable, emotional intelligence in leadership, was measured by 18 items, including self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness and relationship management. The dependent variable, organizational effectiveness, consisted of 46 items, including 15 items regarding organizational commitment, 20 items on job satisfaction, 3 items on turnover intention and 8 items on organizational performance. The structural equation modeling technique was used to identify the impact of emotional intelligence in leadership on organizational effectiveness. The results of the analysis show that the emotional intelligence in leadership of superior nurses has a significant impact on the nurses'organizational commitment and job satisfaction. While the direct effect on turnover intention and organizational performance was not significantly high, organizational commitment and job satisfaction were parameters in low turnover intention and high job performance. In conclusion, emotional intelligence in leadership is critical as nursing services in hospitals are based on interpersonal relationships. Therefore, by developing appropriate programs and training, hospitals can anticipate improved self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness and relationship management of nurses, and further improve the effectiveness of the nursing profession.
