태양플레어망원경의 관측 시스템 (OBSERVATION SYSTEM OF SOLAR FLARE TELESCOPE)

  • SOFT($\underline{So}lar\;\underline{F}lare\;\underline{T}elescope$) installed at BOAO(Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory) is purposed for observing solar active regions using four refractors on single mount with a $400"\times300"$ field of view: Two refractors with a diameter of 15cm(f15) are observe the white light and $H\alpha$, and the other two refractors with a diameter of 20cm(f8) are observe the magnetic field distribution and Doppler shifts at the solar chromosphere. Three Lyot filters, one of the most important observational instruments, are installed on the optical rails for VMG, LMG, and $H\alpha$ that possible to very narrow pass band observation under high precision stability of temperature. From the combination of KD*P and quarter wave plate in the Lyot filter possible observe the magnetic fields strength and doppler shifts by using the characteristics of polarization components. In this paper, we introduce the basic characteristics, optical system, and monitor system of the SOFT.

  • Incoherent broadband optical sources have been applied in various areas such as a light source for optical device characterization, fiber-optic gyroscopes$^{(1)}$ , and spectrum sliced light source in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system$^{(2)}$ . To utilize the inherent low loss in silica optical fibers, various types of incoherent light sources are being developed. Among the light sources, the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) from a rare earth doped fiber has benefits in temperature stability, high output power, low polarization dependence over semiconductor diodes$^{(3)}$ . Recently erbium doped fibers (EDF) have been intensively researched for ASE sources as well as optical amplifiers$^{(4)}$ . The spectrum of ASE from an EDF, however, is limited in the 1520~1560 nm range in conventional configurations. In this letter we described a new broadband ASE source which included both the conventional ASE band of Er$^{3+}$ ion, 1520nm~1560nm and ASE band from Tm$^{3+}$ ions that extends the bandwidth further. For the first time, to the best knowledge of authors, a fiber ASE source based on the energy transfer between Er$^{3+}$ and Tm$^{3+}$ ions in the range of 1460~1550 nm, has been demonstrated using a single 980nm pump laser diode.   • Electret filter media are used in general ventilation filters, disposable respirators, vehicle cabin filters, vacuum cleaners and room air cleaners. There are basic mechanisms of interception, inertial impaction, diffusion, gravitational settling, electrostatic attraction by which an aerosol particle can be deposited onto a fiber in a filter. The ability of fine particle removal strongly depends on the electrostatic forces between particles and polarized fibers. Thus, the stability of the fiber polarization is a major factor in the reliability of electret filters. In this study, electrical properties and filtration performance of electrospun filter media are quantitatively investigated. Electrical properties of electrospun filters have been studied on surface charge potential and surface charge density. Also the filtration performance of the electret filters are evaluated on collection efficiency. Electrospun filters show same collection efficiency with low pressure drop compare to commercialized HEPA filters. Surface charge potential and surface charge density of electrospun filters are increased with increasing applied voltage. Also collection efficiency of electrospun filters is increased with increasing surface charge potential and surface charge density.

  • All-optical fiber-type gain flattening filer (GFF) for an EDFA (Erbium doped fiber amplifier) were fabricated by using a FBT (fiber biconical tapered) process and the performance of the GFF was tested and athermal package was proposed. Historically, the chief contributor to gain unevenness has been the EDFA. Due to the inherent gain response of the EDFA's operation, there is always a modest imbalance in the gain applied as a function of wavelength. FBT methods have been used to make fiber type couplers and WDM filter since 1980. Attractivity of this methods was simple, cost effective and thermal stability. Simulation program tool is made to design target GFF profile for this paper. Fiber coupler manufacturing machine is modified for the GFF process. The final GFF is obtained by cascading 4 unit filter that has 6 taper stage. Test result shows 1 dB of wavelength flatness in the C band. Polarization dependent loss is under 0.15dB. The center wavelength variation is below ${\pm}$0.35nm at the temperature range of $20^{\circ}C$ to $70^{\circ}C$.

Corrosion Resistance and Thermo-optical Properties of Lithium Polysilicate Spray Coated Anodized AZ31B Magnesium Alloy for Space Applications

  • A thin spray coating of inorganic black lithium polysilicate (IBLP) on black anodized AZ31B magnesium alloy was fabricated for better corrosion resistance and thermo-optical properties for thermal control of spacecraft components. The morphology of the specimens with and without IBLP-based spray coating was characterized by SEM-EDS techniques. Impedance and potentiodynamic measurements on the specimens revealed better corrosion resistance for the specimen with a thin coating of lithium polysilicate. This was primarily due to the presence of lithium polysilicate inside the micro-cracks of the black anodized specimen, restricting the diffusion paths for corrosive media. Environmental tests, namely, humidity, thermal cycling, thermo vacuum performance, were used to evaluate the space-worthiness of the coating. The thermo-optical properties of the coating were measured before and after each environmental test to ascertain its stability. The specimen with an IBLP-based spray coating showed enhanced thermo-optical properties, greater than ~0.90. Hence, the proposed coating demonstrated better handling, better corrosion resistance, and space-worthiness during the pre-launch phase owing to its improved thermo-optical properties.

제일원리 계산을 통한 유해화학물질 PCl3와 POCl3의 물분자 촉진 수화반응 연구 (First Principles Study on Hydrolysis of Hazardous Chemicals PCl3 and POCl3 Catalyzed by Water Molecules)

  • Using first principles calculations we unveil fundamental mechanism of hydrolysis reactions of two hazardous chemicals $PCl_3$ and $POCl_3$ with molecular water clusters nearby. It is found that the water molecules play a key role as a catalyst significantly lowing the activation barriers by transferring its protons to the reaction intermediates. Interestingly, torsional angles of molecular complexes at transition states are identified as a vital descriptor on the reaction rate. Analysis of charge distribution over the complexes further reinforces the finding with atomic level correlation between the torsional angle and variation of the orbital hybridization state of P in the complex. Electronic charge separation (or polarization) enhances thermodynamic stability of the activated complex at transition state and reduces the activation energy through hydrogen bonding network with water molecules nearby. Calculated potential energy surfaces (PES) for the hydrolysis reactions of $PCl_3$ and $POCl_3$ depict their two contrastingly different profiles of double- and triple-deep wells, respectively. It is ascribed to the unique double-bonding O=P in the $POCl_3$. Our results on the activation free energy show well agreements with previous experimental data within $7kcalmol^{-1}$ deviation.

유기 반도체 CuPccp LB초박막의 제작 및 특성 (Fabrication and Properties of Organic Semiconductor CuPccp LB Thin Film)

  • A copper tetracumylphenoxy phthalocyanine (CuPccp) thin film was formed on an organic insulator film by Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) deposition for gas sensor fabrication. To increase the reproducibility of film transfer, stearyl alcohol was used as a transfer promoter. The structural properties of the CuPccp layers were optically monitored through attenuated total reflection and polarization-modulated ellipsometry techniques. The average thickness of a single layer of the CuPccp LB film was measured to be 2.5 nm. Despite the role of the transfer promoter, the stability of the layer transfer was not sufficient to ensure homogeneity of the LB film. This was probably due to the presence of aggregates in the molecular structure of the CuPccp LB film. Nevertheless, copper phthalocyanine polymorphism can be greatly suppressed by the LB arrangement, which appears to contribute to the improvement of electrical conductivity. The p-type semiconductor characteristics were confirmed by Hall measurements from the CuPccp LB films.

비시안 은도금욕의 가능성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Feasibility of a Cyanide-Free Silver Plating Bath)

  • Silver deposits formed on copper substrates by replacement reactions show poor adhesion, and a silver film plated on such a deposit does not adhere. Silver ion makes a highly stable complex with cyanide ion, so that in a silver cyanide solution, the activity of silver ion is very small. This is one of the reasons for the universal use of cyanide baths in the industrial silver plating. However, the consideration of the difference between the values of the stability constants for bath the silver-iodide complex and the copper-iodide complex suggest that the rate of replacement deposition of silver on the copper substrate in si]ver-potassium iodide solution, could be comparatively low. To confirm this, the rate of replacement deposition of silver in both a silver-potassium iodide solution ($AgNO_3$0.10 mol/L, KI 2.00 mol/L ) and a strike silver plating bath (AgCN 0.028 mol/L, KCN 1.15 mol/L ) was estimated from the current density corresponding to the point of intersection of the anodic and the cathodic polarization curves. These estimated values were almost the same, and it is suggested that the silver-potassium iodide solution is not only a cyanide free silver plating bath capable of employing a copper substrate but a silver plating bath which requires no strike plating.

Analysis of electrochemical double-layer capacitors using a Natural Rubber-Zn based polymer electrolyte

  • Electrochemical double-layer capacitors (EDLCs) based on solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have gained an immense recognition in the present world due to their unique properties. This study is about preparing and characterizing EDLCs using a natural rubber (NR) based SPE with natural graphite (NG) electrodes. NR electrolyte was consisted with 49% methyl grafted natural rubber (MG49) and zinc trifluoromethanesulfonate ((Zn(CF3SO3)2-ZnTF). It was characterized using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) test, dc polarization test and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) test. NG electrodes were made using a slurry of NG and acetone. EIS test, cyclic voltammetry (CV) test and galvanostatic charge discharge (GCD) test have been done to characterize the EDLC. Optimized electrolyte composition with NR: 0.6 ZnTF (weight basis) exhibited a conductivity of 0.6 x 10-4 Scm-1 at room temperature. Conductivity was predominantly due to ions. The electrochemical stability window was found to be from 0.25 V to 2.500 V. Electrolyte was sandwiched between two identical NG electrodes to fabricate an EDLC. Single electrode specific capacitance was about 2.26 Fg-1 whereas the single electrode discharge capacitance was about 1.17 Fg-1. The EDLC with this novel NR-ZnTF based SPE evidences its suitability to be used for different applications with further improvement.

  • 용융탄산염연료전지(MCFC)용 다공성 Ni 양극에 3~10 wt% Al를 첨가하여 tape casting 법으로 제조된 Ni-Al 양극의 전기화학적성능 및 구조적안정성이 조사되었다. 본 연구에서 제조된 양극의 전기화학적 성능이 $650^{\circ}C$, MCFC 양극분위기(80% H$_2$+20% $CO_2$)를 모사한 half-cell 에서 양분극 특성으로 평가되었는데, 전류밀도 150 ㎃/$\textrm{cm}^2$ 에서의 분극전압은 약 100 ㎷로 실용전지의 양극으로서 가능성을 보였다. Ni-Al 양극의 소결과 creep에 대한 저항성은 Ni 양극에 비해 증가되었는데, 이는 Ni 입자 표면에 형성된 $Al_2$O$_3$의 영향으로 판단되었다.
