  • For the net shape manufacturing, grinding is a important process that influences directly the accuracy and the integrity of products. We studied and researched the grinding force, surface roughness, and grinding wheel durability, according to the change of a feed speed of the table and a depth of the cut step by step with experiment that it is used to WA wheel. Workpiece materials were used STDII. The purpose of this study proposes the basic data for design of the machine tool and for controlling the machining parameters to obtain optimum performance of plunge grinding system during operation.

  • This paper presents a result of simulation and improvement of grinding process for linear motion guide blocks. A simulation software, which is based on cylindrical grinding process. is used to predict the grinding wheel wear during the grinding process. To validate the simulation, the simulation result is compared with the experimental one. Simulation study is extended to obtain an optimal grinding condition for minimizing the grinding wheel wear. The optimal condition is validated through an experiment.

  • The grinding process has been mainly used fur finishing metal products as final machining stage. But chatter vibration and bum of a workpiece have a bad effect on the machined surface and should be detected in modern grinding process. This paper deals with a fault detection of the cylindrical plunge grinding process by power parameters. During the grinding process the power signals of an induced motor were sampled and used to determine the relationship between fault and change of power parameters. A neural network was used far detecting the grinding fault and an influence of power parameters to the grinding fault was analyzed.

  • 연소 가공은 고품질 고정도를 필요로 하는 경우 매우 유효한 가공방법이지만 그 공정이 많은 Parameter에 의해 구성되기 때문에 동일한 조건에서도 정량적인 평가가 어려우므로 작업현장 에서는 과학적 원리와 공학적 지식 보다는 숙련자의 경험과 기능에 의존하고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 국면에 대처한 문제 해결을 위해 Computer가 인간사고에 근접 할 수 있도록 Fuzzy 이론과 Default 이론을 도입하고 전문가의 이론적 지식과 숙련자의 감각적 지식을 적극 수용 하여 연소용 Expert system (최적 가공 조건의 설정 System과 Trouble shooting system)을 개발하였다. 또한 연소 가공 Data의 불확실한 애매성을 효과적으로 이용 할 수 있도록 Fuzzy 가능성이론에 의해 가공 Datad을 회귀 분석하여 실가공 Data base에 축적시켜 재활용토록 설계하었으며 개발된 본 System 의 실행 결과 그 활용성이 높음을 입증하였다.

2 Dimensional Modeling of Centerless Grinding -Infeed (Plunge) Process-

  • A computer simulation model for investigating a two-dimensional (2-D) rounding mechanism in a centerless grinding process is described. This model includes the interference phenomena and the concept of machining elasticity. Since initial contact points are used as a reference, the result of this simulation is not affected by the location of the reference circle center and the radius of the reference circle. Also, details of the machining factor are studied by using process variables (grinding wheel speed, wheel specification, workpiece speed, dressing condition, etc.). The effect of the threshold grinding force on the size of ground workpiece is investigated. For the verification of this method, simulation results are compared with the experimental work.

  • The behavior of a negative buoyant flow flowing into a small reservoir is analysed by experiments and dimensional analysis. The nondimensional plunge point, head velocity, head travel distance and the dilution of density current are dependent on the inflow densimetric Froude number, Fre. The thickness of density current, flow pattern and density difference are different from two cases as follows; before the front of head arrive at the downstream end and after. Before the arrival, the thickness of density current is dependent on Fre and after the arrival, time and Fre. It was found that they can be expressed as power laws.

  • The final quality of the workpiece is affected by the grinding process that has been conducted in final manufacturing stage. However the quality-satisfaction of ground workpiece depends on the skill of an expert in this process. Therefore, the process models of grinding have been developed to predict the states according to grinding process. In this paper, in order to find the optimized grinding condition to reduce the manufacturing expense and to meet requirements of ground workpiece optimization algorithm using E.S.(Evolutionary Strategy) is proposed. The proposed algorithm has been employed to find the optimal grinding and dressing condition using the grinding process models and nonlinear grinding constraints. The optimized results also presents the guide line of grinding process. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified through the experimental results.

  • 보를 월류하는 흐름은 유량에 따라 상이한 흐름특성을 보인다. 즉, 유량이 증가함에 따라 사류 (supercritical flow), 완전도수 (complete hydraulic jump), 수중도수 (submerged hydraulic jump), 그리고 잠긴흐름 (plunge pool)으로 천이한다. 각 흐름영역에 따른 하상전단응력의 변화는 보의 물받이와 하상보호공을 설계하는데 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 계산유체동역학을 이용하여 보를 월류하는 흐름을 수치모의하여 각 흐름의 수리적 특성을 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 Flow3D를 이용하여 RANS 방정식을 수치해석 하였으며, 난류모형으로 RNG $k-{\epsilon}$ 모형을 이용하였다. 수치모의를 통하여 각각의 흐름에 대하여 평균유속, 하상전단응력, 그리고 흐름저항계수의 종방향 분포를 제시하였다.

  • This paper provides a highly efficient grinding for ferrous materials using ELID-grinding method. The grinding efficiency using ELID gring method with CIFB-cBN wheel and CB-cBN wheel is compared with general grinding method with V-cBN wheel. This paper measured grinding ratio for plunge grinding and grinding resistance for traverse grinding in order to investigate grinding ability. The results show that ELID grinding methods is useful for the high efficient grinding of ferrous materials.

Visual Interpretation about the Underground Information using Borehole Camera (휴대용 시추공 카메라를 이용한 지하정보의 가시화 기법)

  • According to the recent development of measurement system utilizing one or a set of boreholes, visualization of the explored underground became to be a major issue. It induced even the introduction of monitoring apparatuses on the borehole wall with multi-function tool, but the usage of these was often limited by where is unfavorable rock condition and a few of engineers can approach. And so, a portable type of borehole camera with only the essential function has been investigated and a few of commercial models about this is recently being applied into the field condition. This paper was based on the monitoring results obtained using a commercial model by Dr. Nakagawa. Discontinuities in rock mass were the topic for the visualization, and it was studied how can visualize their three dimensional distribution and what a numerical formulation is needed and how to understand the visualization result. The numerical formulation was based on the geometric correlation between the dip direction / dip of discontinuous plane and the trend / plunge of borehole, a set of the equation of a plane was induced. As field application of this into two places, it is found that the above visualization methodology will be especially an useful geotechlical tool for analyzing the local distribution of discontinuities.
