Computational Treatment for Plotting of the Planar and the Linear Structures in Fault Zone (단층대내(斷層帶內)의 면(面) 및 선구조(線構造)의 도식화(圖式化)를 위한 전산처리(電算處理))

  • Field sampling requires statistical description to draw inferences from data. Field data, or linear structures, are commonly analyzed by the graphical presentations, such as streonets and rose diagrams. For this purpose the DROPOL program is developed to analyze the data more efficiently with personal computer. DROPOL program written in FORTRAN 77 plots the structural data in points, poles or great circle on equalarea (Schmidt net) or equal-angle (Wulff net) projection surface. It is also capable to project the data from upper or lower hemisphere of stereonet and to draw pole contour diagrams from the plotted data. The rose diagram, representing the frequency of the strike and dip angle, can also be drawn in general or smooth type using $5^{\circ}$ or $10^{\circ}$ degrees interval.

EFFECT OF FEEDING A LATHYRUS TOXIN ON EGG WEIGHT, EGG PRODUCTION AND EGG MALFORMITY IN LAYING CHICKEN

  • Beta-aminopropionitrile (BAPN)-a Lathyrus toxin was fed to laying chicken to investigate effects on egg weight, production and malformity. Two feeding trials were conducted where the levels of BAPN varied from 0.1 to 0.6 g per kg diet. The responses with regard to egg weight, egg production and the incidence of malformed eggs due to varying concentrations of the toxin were recorded and the results on weekly changes in these important variables were evaluated by plotting graphs. The results showed that there were increasing trends in egg weight and egg shell abnormalities and a decreasing trend in egg production as the dietary level of BAPN was increased indicating that the responses of layers were dose dependent. The effects on egg weight, egg production and egg malformity disappeared following withdrawal of the toxin from the diets.

SCARA robot calibration on off-line programming (오프라인 프로그래밍에서 스카라 로봇의 보정)

  • Off-line programming systems are widely spread in assembly lines of minute electronic products to huge offshore structures. Any OLP system has to be calibrated before the on-line robot tasks are performed because there are inherent differences between the CAD model on OLP and the real robot workspace. This paper uses simple geometric expressions to propose a calibration method applicable to an OLP for SCARA robots. A positioning task on the two-dimensional horizontal surface was used in the error analysis of a SCARA robot and the anaysis shows that the inaccuracy results from the two error sources non-zero offset angles of two rotational joints at the zero return and differences in link lengths. Pen marks on a sheet of plotting paper are used to determine the accurate data on the joint centers and link dimensions. The calculated offset angles and link lengths are fed back to the OLP for the calibration of the CAD model of the robot and task environments.

  • Brake squeal noise has been a problem since the early days of motoring . It is important to obtain vibration mode shape for reduction of brake noise . Stroboscopic Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry is a very powerful measuring method for study of vibrating objects in static state compared with conventional methods because this method can give both resonance frequency and quantitative visualization of vibration mode shape at the same time. In this paper, we performed qualitative visualization and quantitative analysis of vibration mode shpae of disk brake by using stroboscopic ESPI and phase shifting method. The stroboscopic wavefronts are obtained by chopping continuous wave laser beam using acousto-optic modulator .Experiments were performed at the same constraint conditions as disk brake of the practical vehicle as far as possible. The experimental results of this paper show quantitative measurement of vibration mode shape and quantiative visualization of vibration amplitude of disk brake with 3D plotting.

  • This study deals with the estimation of the Weibull parameters, which have a close relation with product reliability characteristics. Among the many kinds of estimation methods, Kao's Weibull Probability Paper(WPP) is commonly used. The WPP is very convenient, but it has a great disadvantage in estimation accuracy by plotting method. It is very difficult to get the same results even if one use the same data several times. A computer program for the regression method is used for the parameter estimation to reduce these errors. Especially, the computer graphic program was written in GW-BASIC 3.22 language and the program appears in the appendix part with a couple of running examples for user's reference.

  • Permeability was not represented as a simple function of the difference between confining pressure($P_c$) and pore pressure($P_p$). The effective pressure($P_e$) for measurements of the permeability is shown to be $P_c-{\alpha}P_p$, where $\alpha$ is a coefficient of effective pressure. Local values of $\alpha$ were determined at intervals along the pressure path which range 25MPa to 55MPa. The values of $\alpha$ ranged 0.65 to 1.09 for Pocheon granite and 1.20 to 1.43 for Wonju granite. Also, the value of $\alpha$ calculated by the cross-plotting method was 0.90 for Pocheon granite, 1.59 for Wonju granite and 4.35 for jointed Pocheon granite. $\alpha$ was found to be stress-history dependent.

  • In Interactive Storytelling, storyline is developed according to the user's interaction. Diffrerent from linear, fixed storytelling, users may select an event or make decisions which affect on the story plotting. Therefore user's feeling of immersion and interest may be greatly enhanced. In this paper, we used markers and multi-touch pad for user's interaction for interactive storytelling. Users could present his/her level of interest and provide feedback through markers and multi-touch pad, through which storyline was differently developed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to determine the optimal values of the gain parameters used in the tracking module for a highly dynamic warship. The algorithm of the tracking module uses the ${\alpha}-{\beta}-{\gamma}$ filter to compute accurate estimates and update the state variables, that is, positions, velocity and acceleration. The filtering coefficients ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$ and ${\gamma}$ are determined from set values of the damping parameter, ${\xi}$. Optimization is achieved by plotting a range of the damping parameter ${\xi}$ against the corresponding residual error and then selecting the best value of ${\xi}$ with the minimum residual error. Optimal values of the smoothing coefficients are subsequently computed from the selected damping parameter, ${\xi}$.

  • This paper concerns Reliability Analysis System(RAS) developed by LG Electronics, Inc. for collecting, classifying, and analyzing field failure data. To develop this system, a database for the management of field failure data was built and several functions were included to analyze and assess the product reliability. Nonparametric estimation and cumulative hazard plotting techniques were applied to estimate the reliability for a specific period. This system serves not only engineers in charge of quality but also designers who wish to monitor the reliability of their own products.

  • In this study, the analytic realization of chatter mechanism using radial basis neural network(RBNN) was introduced and compared with the conventional stability analysis. In this regard, the FFT and time series spectrum analysis was used as a criterion for the existence of chatter in end-milling force. The desired coded outputs of chatter was trained and finally converged to desired outputs. The output of the RBNN match well with the conventional desired stability lobe. Using this trained data, the stability boundary of the radial basis neural network was acquired using the contour plotting. As a result, the proposed stability lobe boundary using RBNN consists well with the conventional analytical boundary that is calculated in characteristic equation of transfer function in chatter dynamics. In this RBNN analysis, two input and three output parameters were used in this paper.
