  • The purpose of the study is to establish the concept of residential standard, and at the same time to investigate the area of the minimum residential standard in the countries of the world through the preceding studies. In addition, it also aims at establishing the objective residential standard by comparing the residential standard of Korea with that of foreign countries, examining the problems and finding out the matters to be improved through the comparison of the residential standard in advanced countries with the minimum residential standard of Korea. The standard residential area, derived from the process of examining the minimum residential standard, will be used as the basic material for the calculation of the reasonable area in the surface plan for the study of low-cost housing development. The method of the study is to establish the concept of residential standard and at the same time to find out the problems in the minimum residential standard of Korea and improvement methods through the comparison of the residential standards in other countries. As the result of the studies focused on the area among the residential standards, it is found out that the Korea's residential area per capita is established as the least in comparison with that of advanced countries. The real area decided depending on the size of social space suitable for living can play a role in improving the degree of satisfaction in the person's living in the residential area. Therefore, it is urgently necessary to make a depth study on the surface area of the minimum residential standard, and it is also required to propose the residential standard and directions for the improvement of the qualitative level rather the quantitative expansion of residential structures.

  • Optimal lyophilization process was developed for manufacturing the dried product of Lactobacillus acidophilus with high cell viability. Three major factors, freezing rate, specific surface area of samples, and stabilizer type and their synergy were shown to play a crucial role in the development of an effective lyophilization process. Finally we found an optimal combination among three process parameters mentioned above; an exceptionally high cell survival percentage of 90% was achieved using the 8.28 cm-1 specific surface area of samples, slow freezing rate, and a stabilizer composition of 4% skim milk +1% glycerol +0.1% calcium chloride.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the intake of micromonerals which play an importment role in lipid metabolism and the realtionships of micromine-rals with serum lipids in college women living Choong-Nam area. The nutritional status of subjects was evaluated based on anthropometric mea-surements, 24-hr dietary recali(collected for microminerals intakes analyses), and blood analyses. The results were as follows: The mean age, height, weight, and BMI were 2Oyears, 158cm, 55kg and $22.42kg/m^2$, respectively.(omitted)mitted)

  • We present a new method of measuring the volume and cross-sectional area of the vocal tract from magnetic resonance images. The vocal tract was divided by the 2 constriction points on the horizontal and vertical planes. The ratios of the volumes of the segment vocal tracts to that of the entire vocal tract play a crucial role in discriminating Korean monophthongs in that vowels were successfully discriminated by the ratios. The discriminant analysis also demonstrated that the acoustic parameters F1 and F2, in addition to the segment volumes, serve as significant parameters in discriminating Korean monophthongs.

  • An ecpert system for rotationally symmetric deep drawing products has been developed. The application for non-axisymmetric components, however, has not been reported yet. This study construsctus and expert system for non-axisymmetric motor frame which shape is classified into ellipse in deep draqing process and investigates process sequence design with elliptical shape. The developed system consists of four modules. The first is recognition of calculate surface area for non-axisymmetric products. The third is blank design module the creates an oval-shaped blank with the same surface area. The fourth is a processplanning module based on production rules that play the best important roles in an expert system for manufacturing .The production rules are generated and upgraded by interviewing field engineers. Especially, drawing coefficient, punch and die radii for elliptical shape products are considered as main design parameters. The constructed system for elliptical deep drawing product would be very useful to reduce lead time and improve accuracy for products.

  • It is essential to investigate the structure and the main characteristics of BSN (Bio-Sensor Network) platform in built smart healthcare environment while designing healthy housing facilities. For this study, WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) data transmission technologies have been employed with medical sensors, and optimal medical devices would provide various Web 2.0 services by connecting to the WiBro network. The BSN platform normally recognizes in surroundings of WBAN (Wireless Body Area Network) or WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network), and it is possible to manage sensor nodes by utilizing SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) and REST (REpresentational State Transfer). In addition, the feature of SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) for mobile gateway is also included for being adapted to huge network structure. Finally, BSN platform will play a role as important clues for developing personal WSN service models for smart healthy housing properties.

  • Passenger safety is a primary concern of railway system but, it has been urgent issue that dozens of people are killed every year when they are fallen from train platforms. In this paper, we propose a vision based monitoring system for railway station platform. The system immediately perceives dangerous factors of passengers on the platform by using image processing technology. To monitor almost entire length of the track line in the platform, we use several video cameras. Each camera conducts surveillance its own preset monitoring area whether human or dangerous object was fallen in the area. Moreover, to deal with the accident immediately, the system provides local station, central control room employees and train driver with the video information about the accident situation including alarm message. This paper introduces the system overview and detection process with experimental results. According to the results, we expect the proposed system will play a key role for establishing highly intelligent monitoring system in railway.

  • The major source of nutrients in both the Gamagyang Bay and the Yeoja Bay is mixing. However, water discharges also seem to contribute significant quantities which may influence local phytoplankton growth. Data collected inn the study area shows that natural fluctuations in the environmental conditions of the entire area play a dominant role in determining the phytoplankton populations of the two Bays. The predominating phytoplankton forms are neritic diatom species including some dinoflagellate species in summer. Neritic groups are relatively more abundant in inner areas of the Bays. The oceanic groups and species are seasonal, and associated with advective effects. One neritic species is of overwhelming numerical importance and occurs when a specific seasonal conditions is formed. Species cycles in the two Bays may be regarded as largely the result of successional changes or cycles of autochthonous species introduced by advective processes.

Therefore, this study investigates process sequence design in deep drawing process and constructs a computer-aided process planning system for non-axisymmetric motor frame products with elliptical shape. The system developed consists of three modules. The first one os a 3-dimensional modeling module to calculate surface area for non-axisymmetric products. The second one is a blank design module that creates an oval-shaped blank with the identical surface area. • Mechanical factors in the human body are considered to play a dominant role in low back problems. Various spinal structures. including muscles, act in unison to resist the external load. An estimation of the muscle forces in this structure requires a knowledge of the orientation, location and area of cross-section of the muscles to complete the formulation of a truly three-dimensional mathematical model of the spine. The geometric parameters which are calculated were the line of action, the centroid and physiologic area of cross-section of each muscle as a function of the spinal level. This geometric data were obtained from CT scans of 11 subjects participating in this study.
