정전분무 방전극을 이용한 습식 전기집진장치의 미세먼지 집진효율 평가 (Evaluation of Particle Collection Efficiency in a Wet Electrostatic Precipitator Using an Electrosprayed Discharge Electrode)

  • The wet electrostatic precipitator (wet ESP) is an effective control device which removes submicron particles reentrained in a collection plate and water soluble gas. However, its collection efficiency decreases, as its operation is subject to water-induced distortion of the collection electrode. In order to make up for the limitation, we modified the wet ESP system by installing electrosprayed discharge electrodes. The modified wet ESP system can wash both the collection plate and discharge electrode. As a result, we were able to fabricate a compact wet ESP with a small specific collecting area ($0.18m^2(m^3/min)$) that can accomplish a high collection efficiency of fine particles (97.1%). In addition, the device obtained a relatively low specific corona power of approximately $10W/(m^3/min)$.

  • Micro drilling characteristics by EDM method was investigated. In detail, Micro tool electrode for EDM drilling was machined by use of WEDG method and micro hole was drilled using the machined tool electrode in SUS plate. The machining accuracy and time was compared in a different dielectric fluid. As a result, it was convinced that this method could be utilized as a fabrication technology of micro mold or micro 3 dimensional parts.

습식 수중 용접봉의 피복제 개발에 관한 기초연구 (The Experimental Study of Flux Improvement of Wet Underwater Arc Welding Electrode)

  • Wet underwater arc welding process is investigated by using experimentally developed flux coated underwater arc welding electrode and SS400 steel plate of 12mm thickness as base metal. Three kinds of different flux covered wet arc welding electrode of 4mm diameter(BK-01, BK-02, BK-03) are individually developed, and one of the improved underwater welding electrode (BK-03) may be put to practical use for underwater wet arc welding process. The results obtained from this experimental study are as follows : 1. Arc stability of developed underwater wet welding electrode is better than that of the domestic covered arc welding electrode. 2. Workability of welding electrode, remove ability of slag and bead appearances using improved underwater wet welding electrode are remarkably better than that of others. 3. Heat affected zone of test specimen welded in the underwater gets to become a lot smaller than that of test specimen welded in the air, and the maximum hardness of heat affect zone of developed underwater wet welding electrode is lower to that of domestic arc welding electrode.

코로나 선전극의 직경과 극성변화에 따른 오존발생특성 (Characteristics of Ozone Generation by Diameter and Polarity Variation of Corona Wire Electrode)

  • In this paper, it was investigated experimentally that diameter and polarity variation of corona wire electrode affected to ozone generation of the ozone generator using a wire-to-plate type electrode. The change in the diameter(D) of the corona wire electrode has a great effect upon ozone generation, higher influence appears in the positive corona discharge than the negative corona discharge. In the case of D=0.50[mm], maximum ozone generation and power efficiency could be obtained. However, in the case of smaller D than this, the ozone generation and efficiency decreases slowly and in the case of larger D, the ozone generation decreases rapidly. It means performance decline as an ozone generator. Therefore, ozone generation and power efficiency would increase through simple optimization of the corona electrode specification.

A Spontaneous Growth of a Diaphorase Enzyme Layer over a Gold Electrode for the Catalytic Reduction of $NAD^+$

  • A diaphorase enzyme electrode for the catalytic reduction of NAD+ , the oxidized form of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, has been prepared. The enzyme layer grew spontaneously over an aminoethanethiol self assembled monolayer on a go ld plate electrode. The growth was accomplished by simply dipping the electrode covered by the aminoethanethiol monolayer into a solution containing both glutaraldehyde and diaphorase. We suggested that the glutaraldehyde as a cross-linking reagent was attached to the amino groups of the aminoethanethiol monolayer and the diaphorase enzyme molecules were bound to free aldehyde groups of the glutaraldehyde. Further attachments of the enzyme molecules over the bound enzyme molecules continued with the bridging of the glutaraldehyde. In frequency measurements with a quartz crystal microbalance, the frequency decrease was much more than it was for that of the enzyme monolayer formation, and an enzyme layer thicker than a monolayer was formed. The modified electrode was employed to reduce NAD+ , using diffusional methyl viologen as an electron transfer mediator. The NAD+ was electrocatalytically reduced, and the catalytic current was almost equivalent to that with the multilayered electrode of ten enzyme layers.

분진제거를 위한 활성탄 전극판의 제조 (Preparation of Electrode Coated with Activated Carbon for Dust Removal)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 알루미늄판에 활성탄을 얇게 박판으로 코팅하여 분진제거를 위한 활성탄 전극을 제조함에 있다. 전극을 제조하기위하여 알루미늄판에 활성탄을 부착시키기 위한 적정 결합제 선정 그리고 결합제 사용에 따른 활성탄 세공의 막힘방지 그리고 제조된 제극의 분진제거능력 등을 알아보는 연구를 수행하였다. 알루미늄판에 활성탄 부착을 위한 결합제로는 비닐계의 PVA (polyvinyl acetate)가 적정하였고, 결합제 사용에 따른 활성탄 세공의 막힘을 방지하기 위해서는 우선 먼저 활성탄 세공에 결합제의 용매제를 충진하고 나중에 결합제와 활성탄을 혼합 후 고온에서 휘발시키는 방법이 적정하였다. 그리고 활성탄이 코팅된 전극판은 알루미늄 전극판보다 약 두배의 분진부착능력을 보여주었다.

정전 고속 미스트 엘리미네이터의 포집 효율 특성 (Particle removal characteristics of high-velocity electrostatic mist eliminator)

  • In this study, we developed a flat-plate type wet electrostatic precipitator that generates stable corona discharge compared to wire type discharge electrode. In order to compare the particle removal efficiency according to the shape of the discharge electrode such as the variation of the horizontal and vertical distance between spiked edges, and the variation of the height of discharge pin support were tested. As a result, when the horizontal distance between spiked edges was increased up to 36 mm, the vertical distance between spiked edges was increased up to 54 mm, and the height of the discharge pin support was increased up to 76 mm, the removal efficiency of PM10 was maintained at approximate 60.0%. Furthermore, the removal efficiency of particles over $5{\mu}m$ was about 80% or more. When the flow rate was 4 m/s, the gap between collection plates was 60 mm, and -14 kV was applied to the discharge electrode. The particle removal efficiency of the flat-plate type electrostatic precipitator was maintained when the horizontal and vertical distance between spiked edges, and the height of the discharge pin support was below a certain level. Those variables may be the important design factors for the shape of the discharge electrode. Therefore, when designing the electrostatic precipitator with multiple channels, the horizontal and vertical distance between spiked edges, and the height of discharge pin support must be selected in consideration of the weight of the discharge electrode and the processing cost.

Dependence of Xe Plasma Flat Fluorescent Lamp On the Electrode Gap and Dielectric Layer Thickness

  • In this work, a coplanar-type plasma flat fluorescent lamp having cross type of electrode was fabricated by screen printing and sealing technique. Cross type of electrode with a dielectric layer were screen-printed on a rear glass plate, and then fired at $550^{\circ}C$. Phosphor was printed on and fired at $450^{\circ}C$. Finally, the lamp was sealed by frit glass at $450^{\circ}C$. The lamp of cross electrode type was studied depending on the electrode gap and the thickness of dielectric layer.

미세 내부 형상 가공을 위한 디스크 전극 이용 전해 가공 (Electrochemical Machining Using a Disk Electrode for Micro Internal Features)

  • Micro electrochemical machining was investigated to machine micro internal features. This method uses a micro disk tool electrode and can easily machine micro features inside of a micro hole, which are very difficult to make by the conventional processes. In order to limit the machining area and localize the electrochemical dissolution, ultra short pulses were used as power source and a micro disk electrode with insulating layer on its surface was used as a tool electrode. By electrochemical process, internal features, such as groove array, were fabricated on the stainless steel plate.

Further Electrochemical Degradation of Real Textile Effluent Using PbO2 Electrode

  • A commercial PbO2 electrode was adopted as the anode for the electrochemical degradation of the real textile effluent with the initial COD of 56.0 mg L-1 and the stainless steel plate as the cathode. The effect of the initial pH, the electrolyte flow rate and the cell voltage on the COD, the current efficiency and the energy consumption were investigated without the addition of NaCl or Na2SO4. The experimental results illustrated that the PbO2 electrode can reduce the COD of the textile effluent from 56.0 mg L-1 to 26.0 mg L-1 with the current efficiency of 86.1% and the energy consumption of 17.5 kWh kg-1 (per kilogram of degraded COD) under the optimal operating conditions. Therefore PbO2 electrode as the anode was promising to further electrochemically degrade the real textile effluent.
