Shear correction factors of a new exponential functionally graded porous beams

  • This article introduces a novel analytical model for examining the impact of porosity on shear correction factors (SCFs) in functionally graded porous beams (FGPB). The study employs uneven and logarithmic-uneven modified porosity-dependent power-law functions, which are distributed throughout the thickness of the FGP beams. Additionally, a modified exponential-power law function is used to estimate the effective mechanical properties of functionally graded porous beams. The correction factor plays a crucial role in this analysis as it appears as a coefficient in the expression for the transverse shear stress resultant. It compensatesfor the assumption that the shear strain is uniform across the depth of the cross-section. By applying the energy equivalence principle, a general expression for static SCFs in FGPBs is derived. The resulting expression aligns with the findings obtained from Reissner's analysis, particularly when transitioning from the two-dimensional case (plate) to the one-dimensional case (beam). The article presents a convenient algebraic form of the solution and provides new case studies to demonstrate the practicality of the proposed formulation. Numerical results are also presented to illustrate the influence of porosity distribution on SCFs for different types of FGPBs. Furthermore, the article validates the numerical consistency of the mechanical property changesin FG beams without porosity and the SCF by comparing them with available results.

Effect of RBS on seismic performance of prefabricated steel-concrete composite joints

  • To study the influence of different reduced beam section (RBS) on the mechanical performance of modular boltedwelded hybrid connection joints (MHCJs), this article uses ABAQUS to establish and verify the finite element model (FEM) of the test specimens on the basis of quasi-static test research. Based on, 14 joint models featuring different RBS are devised to evaluate their influence on seismic behavior, such as joint failure mode, bending moment (M)-rotation angle (θ) curve, ductility, and energy consumption. The results indicate that when the flange and web are individually weakened, they alleviate to some extent the concentrated stress of the core module (CM) and column end steel skeleton in the joint core area, but both increase the stress on the flange connecting plate (FCP). At the same time, the impact of both on seismic performance such as bearing capacity, stiffness, and energy consumption is relatively small. When simultaneously weakening the flange and web of the steel beam, forming plastic hinges at the weakened position of the beam end, significantly alleviated the stress concentration of the CM and the damage at the FCP, improving the overall deformation and energy consumption capacity of joints. But as the weakening size of the web increases, the overall bearing capacity of the joint shows a decreasing trend.

  • 본 연구에서는 유한 요소법과 고도화된 손상 탐지 기법을 결합하여 구조적 손상을 규명하는 방법을 다룬다. 본 연구의 특징은 충격하중을 받는 구조물의 동적 거동 특성을 분석하여 이를 임의의 손상 형태를 갖는 판에 적용한다는 것이다. 이러한 방법은 손상된 부위의 강성 분포를 추정할 뿐만 아니라 손상의 정도도 파악할 수 있는 장점을 갖으며 분할 요소수의 제한을 두지 않는다. 제안된 방법을 검증하기 위하여 본 알고리즘은 임의의 손상을 갖는 박판에 대하여 적용하기 한다. 수치해석 결과로부터 제안된 알고리즘은 수치적 효율성과 함께 임의의 손상 분포를 규명할 수 있음을 보여준다.

  • With a sustained increase in the number of reported registrations for two-wheeled vehicles and the simultaneous growth of the domestic two-wheeled vehicle market, fueled by the activation of contactless industries and a rising population engaging in recreational two-wheeled vehicles during the COVID-19 era, concerns regarding safety incidents and environmental issues have come to the forefront. While the regular inspection methods and environmental standards for four-wheeled vehicles are becoming more stringent for safety and environmental management, the same cannot be said for two-wheeled vehicles. As the market for two-wheeled vehicles continues to expand, there is a pressing need for improvements in the management and inspection of these vehicles. In this study, we analyze cases of non-compliance from the results of periodic inspections over the past five years, specifically focusing on illegal customizations, exhaust emissions testing, and exhaust noise results. Through this analysis, we elucidate the necessity for enhancing the inspection system for two-wheeled vehicles, drawing parallels with the inspection systems applied to conventional automobiles. The findings of this research contribute to advocating for improvements in the inspection regime for two-wheeled vehicles, addressing the growing concerns related to safety and environmental impact.

원자력발전소의 방사성폐기물 드럼 운반을 위한 볼트체결방식의 두꺼운 철판을 이용한 IP-2형 운반용기의 구조 안전성 해석 및 시험 (Structural Safety Test and Analysis of Type IP-2 Transport Packages with Bolted Lid Type and Thick Steel Plate for Radioactive Waste Drums in a NPP)

  • IP-2형 운반용기는 정상운반조건에서의 자유낙하시험 및 적층시험을 수행한 후에 운반내용물의 분산 및 유실이 없어야 하며 외부표면에서의 방사선량률이 20%이상 증가할 수 있는 차폐능력의 상실이 없어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 두꺼운 철판을 구조재로 사용하며 볼트체결방식의 뚜껑을 가진 IP-2형 운반용기에 대한 구조 안전성을 평가하기 위한 해석적인 방안을 제안하였다. 해석적인 방법을 통하여 원자력발전소에서 발생된 방사성폐기물 드럼을 폐기물 처리시설에서 임시저장고까지 운반하기 위한 두 종류의 IP-2형 방사성폐기물 운반용기에 대하여 자유낙하조건에서 운반내용물의 분산 및 유실과 차폐손실이 없음을 확인하였다. 자유낙하조건에서 운반내용물의 분산 및 유실을 평가하기 위하여 최대 볼트단면 평균응력값과 최대 뚜껑열림량을 볼트의 인장강도와 뚜껑부에 존재하는 단차와 비교 평가하였다. 또한 최대 차폐두께 감소량을 이용하여 차폐손실을 평가하였다. 자유낙하조건에 대한 동적충돌해석을 검증하고 구조 안전성을 시험적으로 평가하기 위하여 자유낙하시험을 다양한 방향으로 실시하였다. 자유낙하시험에서는 운반내용물의 분산 및 유실은 볼트체결방식의 뚜껑에서 볼트의 파손 및 플랜지의 변형 등을 검사하여 평가하였으며, 차폐손실은 초음파 두께 측정기를 이용한 차폐두께를 측정하여 평가하였다. 해석에 대한 검증을 위하여 시험에서 취득한 변형률과 가속도를 동일한 위치에서 얻어진 해석결과와 비교하였다. 해석결과는 시험결과에 비하여 보수적인 결과를 보여주므로 해석에서 입증한 IP-2형 방사성폐기물 운반용기의 안전성은 보수적인 결과이다. 마지막으로 유한요소해석을 통하여 적층조건에 대한 IP-2형 방사성폐기물 운반용기는 안전함을 입증하였다.

스테인레스 혼산 산세 공정에서 NOx 생성 특성과 과산화수소첨가에 따른 영향 (The Characteristics of NOx Formation in Stainless Mixed Acid Pickling Process and The Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide Addition on NOx Formation)

  • 질산과 불산의 혼산용액을 사용하는 스테인레스 산세 공정에서 많은 $NO_x$가 발생하고 이로 인한 주위환경의 피해가 우려되어 왔다. 본 연구는 이미 생성된 $NO_x$를 제거하는 기존의 환경공학 연구와 달리, 청정기술 개발의 일환으로 기존 산세 공정을 일부 변경하여 $NO_x$ 생성을 저감하기 위한 연구이다. 연구내용은 크게 둘로 나누어지는데, 첫째로 산세 공정의 다양한 공정 변수가 $NO_x$ 생성에 어떻게 영향을 주는 가를 파악하였고 둘째로 $NO_x$ 생성 억제제인 과산화수소가 $NO_x$ 발생량에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 중요 결과로는 산세 공정에서 $NO_x$ 생성에 영향을 미치는 주요 산세공정 변수는 불산 농도, 반응 온도이며 $NO_x$ 발생의 원인 물질인 질산 농도의 영향은 불산 농도에 비하여 크지 않다. 합성 혼산의 경우 산세를 하지 않는 동안에도 $NO_x$를 발생시키나 그 양은 무시할 정도이다. 그러나, 산세 현장의 산세 용액은 산세를 하지 않는 상태에서도 $NO_x$ 발생은 크다. 산세 공정에서 과산화수소 첨가에 따른 $NO_x$ 생성의 저감은 매우 효과적이어서 과산화수소의 농도가 스테인레스 시편 면적에 대하여 $9.51{\times}10^{-2}\;mole/m^2$ 이상일 때 $NO_x$ 발생이 약 80%까지 저감이 되었다. 이러한 결과는 실공정으로 운영되는 스웨덴 AVESTA 산세공정에서 비슷한 정도의 $NO_x$ 생성 저감률을 가져오기 위한 단위산세면적당 과산화수소 주입량의 1/6 정도이다. 실험실에서 행해진 과산화수소 주입에 따른 $NO_x$ 생성저감 결과를 이용하여 단위 산세면적에 대한 경제적인 과산화수소 주입양을 나타내는 영역을 설정하였다.

에폭시 수지 모르터의 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Studies on the Properties of Epoxy Resin Mortars)

  • This study was performed to obtain the basic data which can be applied to the use of epoxy resin mortars. The data was based on the properties of epoxy resin mortars depending upon various mixing ratios to compare those of cement mortar. The resin which was used at this experiment was Epi-Bis type epoxy resin which is extensively being used as concrete structures. In the case of epoxy resin mortar, mixing ratios of resin to fine aggregate were 1: 2, 1: 4, 1: 6, 1: 8, 1:10, 1 :12 and 1:14, but the ratio of cement to fine aggregate in cement mortar was 1 : 2.5. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1.When the mixing ratio was 1: 6, the highest density was 2.01 g/cm$^3$, being lower than 2.13 g/cm$^3$ of that of cement mortar. 2.According to the water absorption and water permeability test, the watertightness was shown very high at the mixing ratios of 1: 2, 1: 4 and 1: 6. But then the mixing ratio was less than 1 : 6, the watertightness considerably decreased. By this result, it was regarded that optimum mixing ratio of epoxy resin mortar for watertight structures should be richer mixing ratio than 1: 6. 3.The hardening shrinkage was large as the mixing ratio became leaner, but the values were remarkably small as compared with cement mortar. And the influence of dryness and moisture was exerted little at richer mixing ratio than 1: 6, but its effect was obvious at the lean mixing ratio, 1: 8, 1:10,1:12 and 1:14. It was confirmed that the optimum mixing ratio for concrete structures which would be influenced by the repeated dryness and moisture should be rich mixing ratio higher than 1: 6. 4.The compressive, bending and splitting tensile strenghs were observed very high, even the value at the mixing ratio of 1:14 was higher than that of cement mortar. It showed that epoxy resin mortar especially was to have high strength in bending and splitting tensile strength. Also, the initial strength within 24 hours gave rise to high value. Thus it was clear that epoxy resin was rapid hardening material. The multiple regression equations of strength were computed depending on a function of mixing ratios and curing times. 5.The elastic moduli derived from the compressive stress-strain curve were slightly smaller than the value of cement mortar, and the toughness of epoxy resin mortar was larger than that of cement mortar. 6.The impact resistance was strong compared with cement mortar at all mixing ratios. Especially, bending impact strength by the square pillar specimens was higher than the impact resistance of flat specimens or cylinderic specimens. 7.The Brinell hardness was relatively larger than that of cement mortar, but it gradually decreased with the decline of mixing ratio, and Brinell hardness at mixing ratio of 1 :14 was much the same as cement mortar. 8.The abrasion rate of epoxy resin mortar at all mixing ratio, when Losangeles abation testing machine revolved 500 times, was very low. Even mixing ratio of 1 :14 was no more than 31.41%, which was less than critical abrasion rate 40% of coarse aggregate for cement concrete. Consequently, the abrasion rate of epoxy resin mortar was superior to cement mortar, and the relation between abrasion rate and Brinell hardness was highly significant as exponential curve. 9.The highest bond strength of epoxy resin mortar was 12.9 kg/cm$^2$ at the mixing ratio of 1:2. The failure of bonded flat steel specimens occurred on the part of epoxy resin mortar at the mixing ratio of 1: 2 and 1: 4, and that of bonded cement concrete specimens was fond on the part of combained concrete at the mixing ratio of 1 : 2 ,1: 4 and 1: 6. It was confirmed that the optimum mixing ratio for bonding of steel plate, and of cement concrete should be rich mixing ratio above 1 : 4 and 1 : 6 respectively. 10.The variations of color tone by heating began to take place at about 60˚C, and the ultimate change occurred at 120˚C. The compressive, bending and splitting tensile strengths increased with rising temperature up to 80˚ C, but these rapidly decreased when temperature was above 800 C. Accordingly, it was evident that the resistance temperature of epoxy resin mortar was about 80˚C which was generally considered lower than that of the other concrete materials. But it is likely that there is no problem in epoxy resin mortar when used for unnecessary materials of high temperature resistance. The multiple regression equations of strength were computed depending on a function of mixing ratios and heating temperatures. 11.The susceptibility to chemical attack of cement mortar was easily affected by inorganic and organic acid. and that of epoxy resin mortar with mixing ratio of 1: 4 was of great resistance. On the other hand, when mixing ratio was lower than 1 : 8 epoxy resin mortar had very poor resistance, especially being poor resistant to organicacid. Therefore, for the structures requiring chemical resistance optimum mixing of epoxy resin mortar should be rich mixing ratio higher than 1: 4.

전기동력학 기술을 이용한 시설재배지 토양의 염류제거 효과연구 (A Study on Salt Removal in Controlled Cultivation Soil Using Electrokinetic Technology)

  • 전기동력학적인 기술 처리가 시설재배 토양의 염류제거에도 효과를 보이는가를 검증하기 위하여 토양의 물리성, 화학성 및 작물생산성을 조사한 포장시험한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. EK처리는 농가포장에 220 V 농가용 교류를 직류화하여 약 0.8 V $cm^{-1}$의 정전압으로 동전기 처리 하였다. 양전극의 길이는 20 cm로서 고규소철 (HSCI; High Silicon Cast Iron), 음전극은 철판 (Fe Plate)을 바닥에 깔았다. 하단부 흙 속에는 직경 10 cm 정도의 유공 PVC파이프를 매설하고 음 (-)극으로 몰려온 양 (+)이온들을 모아서 배출시켰다. EK처리에 따른 토양 물리성은 토양입단의 경우 파괴 효과가 크고 물의 침투 속도는 증가되었으나, 용적밀도와 공극율의 변화는 적었다. 한편, 토양의 화학성을 보면, 무처리구보다 EK처리구의 EC, $NO_3{^-}$-N, $K^+$, $Na^+$ 등의 주요 이온들이 급격히 감소되었고, pH, $P_2O_5$, $Ca^{2+}$ 등은 EK의 영향력이 적은 성분이었다. EK처리에 따른 작물재배 작기별로 토양화학성 감소율을 비교한 결과 $NO_3{^-}$-N 78.3 % > $K^+$ 72.3 % > EC 71.6 % $$\geq_-$$ $Na^+$ 71.5 % > $Mg^{2+}$ 36.8 %순 이었다. EK를 작물재배 이전 즉 휴경을 하면서 처리한 시험구와 작물을 재배하면서 EK를 처리한 시험구의 화학성 감소효과를 비교한 결과 작물재배 중 처리효과가 더 높았다. EK처리 후 양분의 감소가 뚜렸한 $NO_3{^-}$-N, EC 등은 처리효과가 분명하였으나, 1회의 EK처리만으로는 염류감소 지속효과가 분명하지 않으므로 2회 이상 EK처리 후 토양화학성 검정을 계속하면서 토양검정 시비를 실시하는 것이 바람직하였다. EK처리에 따른 배추생육을 보면 1차 처리 - 2차 처리- 3차 처리구의 무처리 대비 증수율은 225.5 % - 181.0 % - 124.2%로 각각 나타났다. 1차 처리 (2011.4)시 고추는 130.0 %, 2차 처리 시 상추는 248.1 %, 3차 처리 시 열무는 125.4 % 각각 증수됨으로서 공시되었던 모든 작물에서 증수효과가 인정되었다.

설비공학 분야의 최근 연구 동향: 2014년 학회지 논문에 대한 종합적 고찰 (Recent Progress in Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Research: A Review of Papers Published in the Korean Journal of Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering in 2014)

  • This article reviews the papers published in the Korean Journal of Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering during 2014. It is intended to understand the status of current research in the areas of heating, cooling, ventilation, sanitation, and indoor environments of buildings and plant facilities. Conclusions are as follows. (1) The research works on the thermal and fluid engineering have been reviewed as groups of heat and mass transfer, cooling and heating, and air-conditioning, the flow inside building rooms, and smoke control on fire. Research issues dealing with duct and pipe were reduced, but flows inside building rooms, and smoke controls were newly added in thermal and fluid engineering research area. (2) Research works on heat transfer area have been reviewed in the categories of heat transfer characteristics, pool boiling and condensing heat transfer and industrial heat exchangers. Researches on heat transfer characteristics included the results for thermal contact resistance measurement of metal interface, a fan coil with an oval-type heat exchanger, fouling characteristics of plate heat exchangers, effect of rib pitch in a two wall divergent channel, semi-empirical analysis in vertical mesoscale tubes, an integrated drying machine, microscale surface wrinkles, brazed plate heat exchangers, numerical analysis in printed circuit heat exchanger. In the area of pool boiling and condensing, non-uniform air flow, PCM applied thermal storage wall system, a new wavy cylindrical shape capsule, and HFC32/HFC152a mixtures on enhanced tubes, were actively studied. In the area of industrial heat exchangers, researches on solar water storage tank, effective design on the inserting part of refrigerator door gasket, impact of different boundary conditions in generating g-function, various construction of SCW type ground heat exchanger and a heat pump for closed cooling water heat recovery were performed. (3) In the field of refrigeration, various studies were carried out in the categories of refrigeration cycle, alternative refrigeration and modelling and controls including energy recoveries from industrial boilers and vehicles, improvement of dehumidification systems, novel defrost systems, fault diagnosis and optimum controls for heat pump systems. It is particularly notable that a substantial number of studies were dedicated for the development of air-conditioning and power recovery systems for electric vehicles in this year. (4) In building mechanical system research fields, seventeen studies were reported for achieving effective design of the mechanical systems, and also for maximizing the energy efficiency of buildings. The topics of the studies included energy performance, HVAC system, ventilation, and renewable energies, piping in the buildings. Proposed designs, performance performance tests using numerical methods and experiments provide useful information and key data which can improve the energy efficiency of the buildings. (5) The field of architectural environment was mostly focused on indoor environment and building energy. The main researches of indoor environment were related to the evaluation of work noise in tunnel construction and the simulation and development of a light-shelf system. The subjects of building energy were worked on the energy saving of office building applied with window blind and phase change material(PCM), a method of existing building energy simulation using energy audit data, the estimation of thermal consumption unit of apartment building and its case studies, dynamic window performance, a writing method of energy consumption report and energy estimation of apartment building using district heating system. The remained studies were related to the improvement of architectural engineering education system for plant engineering industry, estimating cooling and heating degree days for variable base temperature, a prediction method of underground temperature, the comfort control algorithm of car air conditioner, the smoke control performance evaluation of high-rise building, evaluation of thermal energy systems of bio safety laboratory and a development of measuring device of solar heat gain coefficient of fenestration system.

응력 및 변형률 수준을 고려한 궤도 흙노반의 변형계수 특성 분석 (Investigation of Stiffness Characteristics of Subgrade Soils under Tracks Based on Stress and Strain Levels)

  • 본 연구에서는 궤도 하부 노반상에서 다짐도 확인 및 강화노반 두께 결정을 위하여 사용되는 변형계수 $E_{v2}$ 측정방법의 적절성과 측정값의 유효성을 검토하였다. 이를 위하여 반복평판재하시험(RPBT)을 실시하고 평판직하부에서 발생하는 압축변형률을 파악하였다. 동일 흙노반재료에 대한 공진주시험으로부터 획득된 전단탄성계수감소곡선과 $E_{v2}$를 비교하였다. 실 현장 RPBT의 발생변형률 수준과 변형계수의 크기가 합리적인지를 분석하기 위하여 응력조건과 대표 평균변형률계수($I_z$) 보정에 의해 반복평판재하시험 변형계수($E_{v2}$)를 재평가하였다. PLAXIS 프로그램을 이용하여 깊이에 따른 변형률 영향계수($I_z$)를 재산정하여 반복평판재하시험 결과($E_{v2}$) 해석에 미치는 변형률 영향계수의 영향을 분석하였으며 ABAQUS를 이용하여 3D궤도구조에서 노반이 받는 변형률수준을 확인하였다. 궤도하부구조가 경험하는 변형률수준에서의 변형계수 $E_{v2}$를 획득하기 위해서는 노반의 비선형성을 구현할 수 있도록 현 반복평판재하시험의 하중단계를 세분화할 필요성을 확인하였다.
