As a stator for steam turbine diaphragm, hollow-type nozzle stator to substitute for conventional solid one is introduced in this study. This hollowed stator can be separated into two parts such as upper and lower plates with large and curved surface area. This study focuses on thick plate forming process for the upper plate of the hollow-partitioned nozzle stator. First, to reduce forming defects such as under-cut and localized thinning of the deformed plate, and to avoid tool interruption between forming punch and lower die, tool design including the position determination of forming surfaces is performed. Uni-axial tensile tests are carried out using SUS409L steel plate with initial thickness of 5.00mm, and plastic strain ratio (r-value) is also obtained. Due to the asymmetric curved configuration of the upper plate, it is hard to adopt a series of blank holder or draw-bead, so the initial plate during this thick plate forming experiences unstable and non-uniform contact. To easy this forming difficulty and find suitable tool geometry without sliding behavior of the workpiece in the die cavity, two geometric parameters with respect to each shoulder angle of the lower die and the upper punch are adopted. FE models with consideration of 21 combinations for the geometric parameters are built-up, and numerical simulations are performed. From the simulated and predicted results, it is shown that the geometric parameter combinations with ($30^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$) and ($45^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$) for the shoulder angle of the lower die and the upper punch are suitably applied to this upper plate forming of the hollow-partitioned nozzle stator used for the turbine diaphragm.

To analyze the nonflatness and residual stress in accelerated cooled plate, a numerical analysis model has been developed. Two factors, i.e. temperature and phase transformation, are considered in calculating the stress distribution that develops during cooling. The plastic strain and plate-buckling, which are often shown in accelerated cooled plate, were determined from this stress. Mean temperature in through thickness direction and temperature difference in width direction are considered in the model to simplify the calculation. The temperature and stress distribution changes caused by phase transformation are involved in terms of the effective specific heat and the effective thermal expansion coefficient. With the model, accelerated cooling of 10mm(t) $^{*}$3000mm(w) plate was simulated. The condition of accelerated cooling was .deg. C/sec from just after hot rolling to 500.deg. C. The initial temperature-difference ratio, .DELTA.Tr, in width direction is an important factor in evaluating the stress distribution. When .DELTA.Tr is 0.08, buckling occurs during cooling and 7kgf/m $m^{2}$ of residual stress develops at the edge of plate. To secure the flatness, .DELTA.Tr should be less than 0.07. Small scaled cooling test was conducted to verify the exactness of the model and the results proved the usefulness of this numerical analysis model.l.

This paper presents some research results on the shrinkage characteristics and frost resistance before and after cracking of FR-ECC(Fire Resistance-Engineered Cementitious Composite). Also, a waterstop performance and exfoliating resistance of multi-layer lining specimens using FR-ECC and flexural performance of beam member by repaired FR-ECC are estimated in this paper. Experimental results indicate that the plastic shrinkage crack and length change ratio of FR-ECC have been reduced as compared with that of the existing repair mortar, and that its crack resistance on the dry shrinkage is improved under the confining stress. As well as FR-ECC has been great in the frost resistance and its tensile properties under the cracked state have been not reduced by freezing and thawing reaction. In addition, beam member by repaired FR-ECC have been increased in the flexural properties such as initial crack moment, yeild moment, and its crack width has been controled in a stable by the frexural failure.

A blisk with rotor shroud is usually adopted in LRE turbine to maximize its performance. However it experiences the severe thermal load and resulting damage during engine stating and stop. Shroud splitting is devised to relieve the thermal stress on the turbine rotor. Structural analysis confirmed the reduction of plastic strain at the blade hub and tip. However, split gap at the rotor shroud entails additional tip leakage and results performance degradation. In order to assess the effect of shroud split on the turbine performance, tests have been performed for various settings of shroud split. For the maximum number of shroud splitting, measured efficiency reduction ratio was 2.65% to the value of original shape rotor.

The estimation of surface settlement, ground behavior and tunnel displacement are the main factors in urban tunnel design with shallow depth and unconsolidated soil. On deformation analysis of shallow tunnel, it is important to identify possible deformation mechanism of shear bands developing from tunnel shoulder to the ground surface. This paper investigated the effects of key design parameter affecting deformation behavior by numerical analysis using nonlinear model incorporating the reduction of shear stiffness and strength parameters with the increment of the maximum shear strain after the initiation of plastic yielding. Numerical parametric studies are carried out to consider the reduction of shear stiffness and strength parameters, horizontal stress ratio, cohesion and shotcrete thickness.
This study was carried out to investigate the bending strength of the Larix glulam beams which were reinforced with CFRP (Carbon fiber reinforced plastic) of which the reinforcement ratios were 0.7% and 2.1% by volume. In the bending test, the rupture shape of the reinforced glulam shows that the reinforced glulam broke firstly in the lowest bottom layer on which tension was loaded, but did not in the upper part reinforced with the CFRP layer. The upper part of the reinforced layer kept strength and did not break when the reinforced glulam broke firstly at the bottom part of the reinforced layer, but broke secondly as loading was increased. In the glulam beams reinforced with CFRP of which the reinforcement ratio was 0.7% by volume, the bending strength of the reinforced beams was increased by 28% at the first break. When beams broke up to the upper part of the reinforced layer, the bending strength of the reinforced beams was increased by 55%, compared to those of control glulam beams. When the glulam beams were reinforced with CFRP of which the reinforcement ratio was 2.1% by volume, the bending strength of the reinforced beams was increased by 77%, compared to those of control glulam beams. The ratio of the height of calculated neutral axis using failure mode recommended by Romani and the height of actual neutral axis using strain gauge was 1.03 and agreed well.

Developmental period, mummification, pupal mortality, and sex ratio of Korean strain of Aphelinus varipes F$\ddot{o}$rster parasitizing the green peach aphid, Myzus persicae were studied at 20, 25, 30, and $35^{\circ}C$ in controlled climate cabinets. The plastic container with a leaf disc of sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) was used as experimental units. Green peach aphids at different developmental stages were reared in four different temperatures and presented to A. varipes for 12 hours. A female adult of A. varipes was allowed to parasitize for 12 hours in each plastic petri dish. The periods from egg to adult of A. varipes were 18.3 days, 14.7 days, 10.4 days, and 9.3 days at $20^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$, and $35^{\circ}C$, respectively. The pupal mortalities of A. varipes were 0%, 1.5%, 2.8%, and 10.2% at $20^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$, $30^{\circ}C$, and $35^{\circ}C$, respectively. The mummifications of A. varipes were significantly different in all developmental stages of the aphid. The mummification of A. varipes parasitizing green peach aphid was the highest at 1st and 2nd in $20^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$, but the highest at 3rd (84.4-85.0%) in $30^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C$. The host feedings of A. varipes were $20^{\circ}C$ (12.5%), $25^{\circ}C$ (17.3%), $30^{\circ}C$ (16%), and $35^{\circ}C$ (10.9%), respectively. The sex ratios of A. varipes female were $20^{\circ}C$ (49%), $25^{\circ}C$ (46%), $30^{\circ}C$ (69%), and $35^{\circ}C$ (60%), respectively.
Shear friction strength model of concrete was proposed to explain the direct friction mechanism at the concrete interfaces intersecting two structural elements. The model was derived from a mechanism analysis based on the upper-bound theorem of concrete plasticity considering the effect of transverse reinforcement and applied axial loads on the shear strength at concrete interfaces. Concrete was modelled as a rigid-perfectly plastic material obeying modified Coulomb failure criteria. To allow the influence of concrete type and maximum aggregate size on the effectiveness strength of concrete, the stress-strain models proposed by Yang et al. and Hordijk were employed in compression and tension, respectively. From the conversion of these stress-strain models into rigidly perfect materials, the effectiveness factor for compression, ratio of effective tensile strength to compressive strength and angle of concrete friction were then mathematically generalized. The proposed shear friction strength model was compared with 91 push-off specimens compiled from the available literature. Unlike the existing equations or code equations, the proposed model possessed an application of diversity against various parameters. As a result, the mean and standard deviation of the ratios between experiments and predictions using the present model are 0.95 and 0.15, respectively, indicating a better accuracy and less variation than the other equations, regardless of concrete type, the amount of transverse reinforcement, and the magnitude of applied axial stresses.

Upon freezing a soil swells due to phase change and its compression stress increase a lot. As the soil undergo thawing, however, it becomes a soft soil layer because the 'soil changes from a solid state to a plastic state. These changes are largely dependent on freezing temperature and repeated freezing-thawing cycle as well as the density of the soil and applied loading condition. This study was initiated to describe the effect of the freezing temperature and repeated freezing-thawing cycle on the unconfined compressive strength. Soil samples were collected at about 20 sites where soil structures were installed in Kangwon provincial area and necessary laboratory tests were conducted. The results could be used to help manage effectively the field structures and can be used as a basic data for designing and constructing new projects in the future. The results were as follows ; 1. Unconfined compressive strength decreased as the number of freezing and thawing cycle went up. But the strength increased as compression speed, water content and temperature decreased. The largest effect on the strength was observed at the first freezing and thawing cycle. 2. Compression strain went up with the increase of deformation speed, and was largely influenced by the number of the freezing-thawing cycle. 3. Secant modulus was responded sensitivefy to the material of the loading plates, increased with decrease of temperature down to - -10$^{\circ}$C, but was nearly constant below the temperature. Thixotropic ratio characteristic became large as compression strain got smaller and was significantly larger in the controlled soil than in the soil treated with freezing and thawing processes 4. Vertical compression strength of ice crystal(development direction) was 3 to 4 times larger than that of perpendicular to the crystal. The vertical compression strength was agreed well with Clausius-Clapeyrons equation when temperature were between 0 to 5C$^{\circ}$, but the strength below - 5$^{\circ}$C were different from the equation and showed a strong dependency on temperature and deformation speed. When the skew was less then 20 degrees, the vertical compression strength was gradually decreased but when the skew was higher than that, the strength became nearly constant. Almost all samples showed ductile failure. As considered above, strength reduction of the soil due to cyclic freezing-thawing prosses must be considered when trenching and cutting the soil to construct soil structures if the soil is likely subject to the processes. Especially, if a soil no freezing-thawing history, cares for the strength reduction must be given before any design or construction works begin. It is suggested that special design and construction techniques for the strength reduction be developed.
The flexural strength of composite HSB I-girders under a positive moment was investigated using the moment-curvature analysis method to evaluate the applicability of the current AASHTO LRFD design specifications to such girders. A total of 2,391 composite I-girder sections that satisfied the section proportion limits of the AASHTO LRFD specifications was generated by the random sampling technique to consider a wide range of section properties. The flexural capacities of the sections were calculated inthe nonlinear moment-curvature analysis in which the HSB600 and HSB800 steels were modeled as an elasto-plastic strain-hardening material, and the concrete, as a CEB-FIP model. The effects of the ductility ratio and the compressive strength of the concrete slab on the flexural strength of the composite girders made of HSB and SM520-TMC steels were analyzed. The numerical results indicated that the current AASHTO LRFD equation can be used to calculate the flexural strength of composite girders made of HSB600 steel. In contrast, the current AASHTO LRFD equation was found to be non-conservative in its prediction of the flexural strength of composite HSB800 girders. Based on the numerical results of this study for 2,391 girders, a new design equation for the flexural strength of composite HSB800 girders in a positive moment was proposed.
