To find out the effect of water hyacinth(Eichhornia crassipes Solms-Laub) on the control of eutrofication and plant damage with irrigation water contamination, its ability to remove the nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphrus was studied. The overall results are summarized as follow. 1. It was possible to cultivate water hyacinth for 4 month from June to the middle of October in Suwon. 2. The number of plant was increased from 1,320 to 50,600 for 4 months, and total amounts of N, P, K removed from Seo-Ho by water hyacinth were 78.3, 64.2 and 152.4 kg/10a, respectively. 3. EC and $NH_4-N$ contents were lower at water hyacinth treatment than non-treatment and monthly variation of those contents were decreased until August. 4. With the cultivation of water hyacinth in animal waste water in vinyl plastic house, pH, EC, COD and concentrations of $NH_4-N$ and $PO_4-P$ in the water were drastically decreased. 5. Nitrogen contents absorbed from waste water existed in the order of leaf > stem > root but those of phosphorus root > stem > leaf.

In metal cutting the shape of generated chip varies according to cutting conditions, characteristics of workpiece and geometry of cutting tool. The best surface roughness of machined workpiece is obtained when generating flow type contrinuous chip. If the generated chip is not broken, that is not only tangled workpiece and cutting tool, but also may give damage on the machined surface of workpiece or danger for a operator. The flow type continuous chip may bring the low productivity in high speed any heavy cutting, automatic machining process and non-human factory. There are two type of chip break process ; controlling cutting condition and using chip breaker. In present study we carried out the experiment on new type chip breaker compared with conventional type and proved the efficiency of a new type and showed the chip break condition to be applied in actual metal cutting. In the experiment SM 20 C as a workpiece material and WC as a tool material were used and cutting speed of 30-150m/min, feed of 0.071-0.210mm/rev and depth of cut of 1mm were applied as cutting condition. The results of the experiment are as follows : (1) The mechanism of chip curl can be explained more clearly by plastic flow of workpiece material and moment of shearing force. (2) The most effective radius of curled chip and flat distance from cutting edge is 2.0-2.5mm and 1.5mm in both types. (3) The effective inclination angle of chip break surface and side cutting edge angle are 30.deg.- 45.deg. and 20.deg. in conventional type, while the radius of arc surface, lower arc angle A, upper arc angle B and side cutting edge angle are 3mm, 20.deg.- 45.deg., 0.deg.- 45.deg. and 10.deg.- 20.deg. in new type. (4) The probability to be obtained 100% chip breaking ratio is much higher in new type than in conventional type.
The study was conducted to obtain the basic information on the diseases epidemics of vegetable crops grown in Namji, Jinju, Gimhae and Suncheon under the extremely varied and specified conditions, plastic film house. The disease survey was conducted from the end of April, 1951 to April 1982. Leaf mold and late blight were serious foliar disease in tomato during the seedling stage, especially when the infected seeds were sown. The diseases increased rapidly 35 days after seeding. In both continuous cultivation of cucumber and rotation with upland crops, incidence of Fusarium wilt was severe while incidence of the disease was negligible in cultivations after paddy rice or grafting on pumpkin. Downy mildew of cucumber was severe in Jinju and Suncheon area, however, it was not so serious in Namji area where the growing season of cucumber was unfavorable for the maximum disease incidence. Cucumber mosaic virus disease was prevalent in the areas surveyed and the disease incidence was increased rapidly after June. Powdery mildew prevailed at the early stage of cucumber growth after transplanting in Namji area. Root rot and wilting caused by Phytophthora capsici was as the most destructive disease in pepper grown under the vinyl house, especially in Namji and Jinju area where the pepper has been cultivated intensively. The Phytophthora attacked most parts of young plants during the winter time and then induced crown rot on the adults plants. Cultivation of pepper in vinyl house was almost impossible because of the Phytophora disease by the end of June. Virus diseases to tomato plants were prevalent throughout the surveyed area and the damage was also severe. In Jinju and Gimhae area leaf mold and late blight showed high infection rate in tomato during the harvest time.
The main objective of this study is the assessment of the ability of limestone mortars to resist to different chemical attacks. The ability of polypropylene (PP) fibres waste used as reinforcement of these concrete materials to enhance their durability is also studied. Crushed sand 0/2 mm which is a fine limestone residue obtained by the crushing of natural rocks in aggregates industry is used for the fabrication of the mortar. The fibres used, which are obtained from the waste of domestic plastic sweeps' fabrication, have a length of 20 mm and a diameter ranging between 0.38 and 0.51 mm. Two weight fibres contents are used, 0.5 and 1%. The durability tests carried out in this investigation included the water absorption by capillarity, the mass variation, the flexural and the compressive strengths of the mortar specimens immersed for 366 days in 5% sodium chloride, 5% magnesium sulphate and 5% sulphuric acid solutions. A mineralogical analysis by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and a visual inspection are used for a better examination of the quality of tested mortars and for better interpretation of their behaviour in different solutions. The results indicate that the reinforcement of limestone mortar by PP fibres waste is an excellent solution to improve its chemical resistance and durability. Moreover, the presence of PP fibres waste does not affect significantly the water absorption by capillarity of mortar nether its mass variation, when exposed to chloride and sulphate solutions. While in sulphuric acid, the mass loss is higher with the presence of PP fibres waste, especially after an exposure of 180 days. The results reveal that these fibres have a considerable effect of the flexural and the compressive behaviour of mortar especially in acid solution, where a reduction of strength loss is observed. The mineralogical analysis confirms the good behaviour of mortar immersed in sulphate and chloride solutions; and shows that more gypsum is formed in mortar exposed to acid environment causing its rapid degradation. The visual observation reveals that only samples exposed to acid attack during 366 days have showed a surface damage extending over a depth of approximately 300 ㎛.
The study was focused to evaluate the possibility for combination membrane of bacterial cellulose (BC) and graphene with high electrical properties. BC with natural polymer matrix was known to have strong physical strength. For the combination of graphene with BC, the surface of graphene was modified with oxygen plasma by changing strength and time of radio waves in room temperature. Water contact angle of modified graphene grew smaller from $130^{\circ}$ to $12^{\circ}$. XPS analysis showed that oxygen content after treatment increased from 2.99 to 10.98%. Damage degree of graphene was examined from $I_D/I_G$ ratio of Raman analysis. $I_D/I_G$ ratio of non-treated graphene (NTG) was 0.11, and 0.36 to 0.43 in plasma treated graphene (PTG), increasing structural defects of PTG. XRD analysis of PTG membrane with BC was $2{\theta}$ same to BC only, indicating chemically combined membrane. In FT-IR analysis, 1,000 to 1,300 $cm^{-1}$ (C=O) peak indicating oxygen radicals in PTG membrane had formed was larger than NTG membrane. The results suggest that BC as an alternation of plastic material for graphene combination has a possibility in some degree on the part like transparent conductive films.

Marjolin's ulcer is a rare and often-aggressive cutaneous malignancy that arises in previously traumatized or chronically inflamed skin, particularly after burns. We experienced two cases after burns. Case I involved a forty eight year-old man who had suffered from a flame burn at the parietal scalp area, where had been initially described three years earlier as a full-thickness wound including the pericranium. The man consulted us for a persistent ulcerative and infected wound on the burned lesion during the last 24 months, which turned out on the contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to be the squamous cell carcinoma with involving the skull and the dura mater. Although the posterior auricular lymph node was enlarged on the ipsilateral side, recent positron emission tomography (PET) CT did not show any metastatic lesion. It was impossible for us to resect the intracranial involvement of the tumor radically, and the postoperative PET CT still showed a focal fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake around the wall of the superior sagittal sinus. We think that an aggressive combined approach is essential for treatment in early stages for a high success rate, before the intracranial structures are involved because there is no consensus on the treatment for advanced disease, and the results are generally poor. Case 1 also did not involve a radical resection because of the intracranial invasion to the wall of superior sagittal sinus and the possibility of damage to the major cortical veins. He received adjuvant radiotherapy and must be followed periodically. Case 2 involved an eighty six year-old women who suffered from a painful scalp ulcer lesion after flame burns three years earlier. Unlike case 1, neither tumor infiltration into the dura nor lymph node enlargement was observed on the contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or positron emission tomography (PET) CT. We did a radical resection of the tumor, including the involved bone, and a cranioplasty with bone cement.
In eccentrically braced steel frames (EBFs), the links are fuse members which enter inelastic phase before other structure members and dissipate the seismic energy. Based on the force-based seismic design method, damages and plastic deformations are limited to the links, and the main structure members are required tremendous sizes to ensure elastic with limited or no damage. Force-based seismic design method is very common and is found in most design codes, it is unable to determine the inelastic response of the structure and the damages of the members. Nowadays, methods of seismic design are emphasizing more on performance-based seismic design concept to have a more realistic assessment of the inelastic response of the structure. Links use ordinary steel Q345 (the nominal yielding strength $f_y{\geq}345MPa$) while other members use high strength steel (Q460 $f_y{\geq}460MPa$ or Q690 $f_y{\geq}690MPa$) in eccentrically braced frames with high strength steel combination (HSS-EBFs). The application of high strength steels brings out many advantages, including higher safety ensured by higher strength in elastic state, better economy which results from the smaller member size and structural weight as well as the corresponding welding work, and most importantly, the application of high strength steel in seismic fortification zone, which is helpful to popularize the extensive use of high strength steel. In order to comparison seismic behavior between HSS-EBFs and ordinary EBFs, on the basis of experimental study, four structures with 5, 10, 15 and 20 stories were designed by PBSD method for HSS-EBFs and ordinary EBFs. Nonlinear static and dynamic analysis is applied to all designs. The loading capacity, lateral stiffness, ductility and story drifts and failure mode under rare earthquake of the designs are compared. Analyses results indicated that HSS-EBFs have similar loading capacity with ordinary EBFs while the lateral stiffness and ductility of HSS-EBFs is lower than that of EBFs. HSS-EBFs and ordinary EBFs designed by PBSD method have the similar failure mode and story drift distribution under rare earthquake, the steel weight of HSS-EBFs is 10%-15% lower than ordinary EBFs resulting in good economic efficiency.

In performing the structural analysis, the foundation is considered to be a fixed end as a plastic hinge model. In this study, the displacements of the foundation, pier, and shoe were compared when the foundation modeled as a fixed end, a shallow foundation constructed on bedrock of 2m depth, and a pile foundation constructed in the 10m to 20m depth of bedrock. The shear force was also compared, and the probability of damage was calculated and compared for the critical condition. When calculated as a fixed end, the displacement of the foundation converged to 0mm, but the shallow foundation built on the bedrock with a depth of 2m caused relatively displacement, and the pile foundation constructed to contact the bedrock with a depth of 18m caused a larger displacement. In addition, it was analyzed that the displacement of the foundation, which is the lower structure, affects the displacement of the super structure, but the difference in shear force applied to the foundation was insignificant in the three cases. There was no difference between the shallow foundation and the pile foundation in the influence on the displacement of the top of the pier, but there was a big difference from the analysis assuming as a fixed end.

Currently, the permanent road traffic volume surveys under Road Act are conducted using a intrusive Automatic Vehicle Classification (AVC) equipments to classify 12 categories of vehicles. However, intrusive AVC equipment inevitably have friction with vehicles, and physical damage to sensors due to cracks in roads, plastic deformation, and road construction decreases the operation rate. As a result, accuracy and reliability in actual operation are deteriorated, and maintenance costs are also increasing. With the recent development of ITS technology, research to replace the intrusive AVC equipment is being conducted. However multiple equipments or self-built DB operations were required to classify 12 categories of vehicles. Therefore, this study attempted to prepare a method for classifying 12 categories of vehicles using vehicle specification information of the Vehicle Management Information System(VMIS), which is collected and managed in accordance with Motor Vehicle Management Act. In the future, it is expected to be used to upgrade and diversify road traffic statistics using vehicle specifications such as the introduction of a road traffic survey system using Automatic Number Plate Recognition(ANPR) and classification of eco-friendly vehicles.

Clover cyst nematode (Heterodera trifolii, CCN) is one of the important plantparasitic nematodes in the Republic of Korea, causing serious damage to Kimchi-cabbage in Gangwon province since 2017. Soil fumigants are the preferred choice for managing CCN. However, cabbage fields in Gangwon province have a slope, making it challenging to apply soil fumigants and use plastic mulch. Consequently, alternative materials should be developed for managing CCN. Nematicidal cover crops and resistant cultivars are among the alternatives. We conducted resistance screening of 82 white mustard(Sinapis alba) resources from a genebank at RDA against CCN for use as nematicidal cover crops or breeding materials. In the first assay (1st, 2nd, and 3rd pot experiments), 15 white mustard resources were selected, while others were susceptible to CCN. To confirm the reproducibility of resistance to CCN for 13 selected resources, the second assay was performed. As a result, five white mustard resource (IT297309, IT297312, IT302951, IT302953, IT302954) demonstrated resistance to CCN. These findings indicate the potential use of these five white mustard resources as nematicidal cover crops or for breeding cultivars of Kimchi-cabbage in Republic of Korea.
