Purpose: Autologous fat injection is ideal for patients who wish to add contour, projection and gross volumization of the aging, atrophic face and is claimed to be a safe procedure. However, there are several case reports in the literature where patients have suffered from acute visual loss and cerebral infarction after facial fat injection. This paper will explore a rare case of vessel related complication, an arteriovenous fistula that occurs after fat injection on forehead. Method: A 28 - year - old female who showed a non - tender, soft $1.0{\times}2.5cm$ sized mass on forehead for 3 weeks. A thrill could be detected on the totuous dilatated vessel - like structure around the mass. She had a fat injection on forehead for soft tissue augmentation 3 months prior to developing the mass. 3 - dimensional brain CT angiography showed arteriovenous fistula. Results: The fistula is totally excised with ligation of feeding vessels. Pathology report showed an atypical vessel which had intimal thickening, myxoid degeneration and thrombus formation. There were no evidences of recurrence at least for 2 months of follow - up. Conclusion: An occurrence of arteriovenous fistula after autologous fat injection is very rare. After perforation of artery and vein by coincidence, blood extravasates with the formation of a hematoma capsule and a pseudocapsule around it. The hematoma capsule would expand and clot would reabsorb resulting in a cavity leading to fistula formation. Other vessel related complications like acute visual loss or cerebral infarction are very severe. Therefore, surgeons should be cautious during facial fat injection to avoid vessel injuries.
Recently, mobile-phone with camera module has an absolute majority in the released mobile-phones. For this trend, High precision of the plastic subminiature barrel which is the core part is needed significantly because the camera module of mobile-phone must have high performance. Therefore, Structural stability of the injection mold for plastic subminiature barrel has to be guaranteed. In this paper, structural analysis of injection mold for plastic subminiature barrel is performed. Finally, the deformation trend and stability of injection mold core are analyzed.

This study investigates the injection molding of a plastic rack gear and focuses on deflections in the part. The causes of deflections were found and resolved through a trade-off study by injection molding analysis. Based on a warpage analysis, the fiber orientation was found to be a dominant factor in the occurrence of deflections. Changes in the part design and various injection conditions were analyzed for their effects in reducing deflections. Based on the trade-off study, a new part bottom design, injection time, and melt temperature were recommended. A trial injection was done for the new plastic rack gear, and measurements showed that its flatness surpassed that of the original part and met the specified requirement. The short injection time, low melt temperature, and symmetric similar configuration of the part contributed to the reduction in deflections. Therefore, optimized gate design and injection conditions as well as a new part design were validated through injection molding analysis in this study.
Optical properties in injection molded plastic lenses for mobile phone camera have been simulated using commercial program, 3D TIMON. Four plastic lenses are being used in mobile phone camera. The quality of photographs taken by mobile phone camera is strongly depends upon optical characteristics of lenses. The variety of optical properties has been investigated according to the injection conditions through the computer simulation. Consequently optimal injection conditions for four lenses have been determined and simulation results of birefringence have been compared with experiments.
The purpose of this paper is to introduce a fusion method that combines the design of experiments (DOE) and machine learning to optimize the bias of plastic products. The study focuses on the plastic motor housing used in automobiles, which is manufactured through plastic injection molding. Achieving optimal molding for the motor housing involves the optimization of various molding conditions, including injection pressure, injection time, holding pressure, mold temperature, and cooling time. Failure to optimize these conditions can lead to increased product deformation. To minimize the deformation of the motor housing, the widely used Taguchi method, which is one of the design of experiment techniques, was employed to identify the injection molding conditions that affect deformation. Machine learning was then applied to various models based on the identified molding conditions. Among the models, the Random Forest model emerged as the most effective in predicting deformation amounts. The validity of the Random Forest model was also confirmed through verification. The verification results demonstrated the excellent prediction accuracy of the trained Random Forest model. By utilizing the validated model, molding conditions that minimize deformation were determined. Implementation of these optimal molding conditions led to a reduction of approximately 5.3% in deformation compared to the conditions before optimization. It is noteworthy that all injection molding outcomes presented in this paper were obtained through robust injection molding simulations, ensuring both research objectivity and speed.

For recent years, use of autologous fat injection has increased significantly in facial contouring surgery. Along with such increase in use, complications like atypical mycoplasma infection have been also on the increasing trend. The authors report two cases of Mycobacterium chelonae infection that occurred after autologous fat injection. Patients were treated as infection that resistant to common antibiotics and results were negative to routine culture and Gram staining. Acid-fast bacillus stain, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test and mycobacterial cultures were conducted for diagnosis under suspicion of atypical mycoplasma infection. Then, combination antibiotics therapy, surgical treatment, and steroid injection were performed for treatment. Both patients were diagnosed with Mycobacterium chelonae in PCR test. They were positive to mycobacterial cultures. Combination antibiotics therapy was repeated to improvement of symptom. However, they could not be free from side effects such as deformation in facial contour, scar and pigmentation even after full recovery. When chronic wound infections after autologous fat injection, we must suspect atypical or mycobacterial infection and conduct examinations for a early diagnosis and proper antibiotic therapy that is effective to the nontuberculous mycobacteria.
Purpose: Local skin necrosis after extravasation of adriamycin, a widely used chemotherapeutic agent, is a common problem in cancer patients. The extravasation of chemotherapeutic agents yields severe inflammatory responses, crust formation, skin necrosis, and ulceration. Even though several treatment options have been proposed for extravasation injury, there is still controversy regarding the management of such lesions. Thus the aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of saline injection(Group 1), hydrocortisone injection(Group 2), propranolol injection(Group 3) and early surgical excision as a treatment(Group 4) in a rat extravasation model. Methods: The authors planned forty mature male Sprague - Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups and each group contained 10 rats. Administration of adriamycin($1.0mg/m{\ell}$) $1.5m{\ell}$ by subcutaneous injection on the dorsal side of the rats was followed by protocol. The treatment options were applied 2 hours after adriamycin injection. At the end of the 5th days, the presence and size of ulcers at the injection site were measured. 3 weeks after injection, a histopathologic examination was performed for each treatment and control group. T - tests were used to analyze the differences between the measurements. Results: Propranolol significantly improved tissue recovery compared with control group and other groups. These data suggest that there is little role for saline and hydrocortisone in the treatment of adriamycin extravasation injury. Conclusion: In this study, we compared some treatment methods in adriamycin extravasation model. The findings support the propranolol injection may prevent extravasation injury. However this study was performed in the laboratory using rats, and the results could be different in clinical application. Thus, more needs further investigations and clinical application.
Since most of the waste plastics are incinerated and landfilled for the plastic treatment, the environmental friendly processes must be introduced. The plastic utilization of plastic to the blast furnace as a substitutional fuel was developed as a useful recycling method of waste plastics, and commercialized in several ironmaking company in Europe and Japan. Present study was carried out to understand the effect of plastic injection on blast furnace process continuously by using the foundry blast furnace in POSCO. The coke replacement ratio turned out to be 0.98 with the waste plastic injection up to 13.8 kg/thm of injection rate, and there were no significant effect of the kinds of injection plastics on the replacement ratio in this test operation. The permeability in the furnace became worse and the heat load in the lower part of blast furnace was increased with increasing the injection rate of waste plastics. As the rate of plastic injection were increased, the top gas utilization and shaft efficiency were also decreased from the Rist diagram analysis.

In this study, design and manufacturing of plastic injection mold with cavity pressure/temperature sensors were performed fur tensile test specimen. International standard system for plastic tensile specimen was applied to design an injection molding system. Cavity pressure and temperature sensors were placed on the side of fixed platen of the injection mold to prevent them from external impact damage. Injection molding experiments with variations of injection speed and melt temperature were performed and then tensile test of the manufactured polycarbonate specimens was also performed. It was shown that injection molding processing parameters can have effect on the mechanical properties of the plastic injection molded part.
The injection molding process is analyzed to get the information on the mold design parameters and the optimum process conditions for automotive plastic front fender. The gate position, runner size and cooling channel are determined by the estimation of the flow balance, packing time, uniform cooling and shrinkage and warpage in the injection molding analyses. The procedure can be used in the mold design in the early stage when developing plastic parts.
