A dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma reactor packed with $Ni-CeO_2/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalyst was used for the dry ($CO_2$) reforming of propane (DRP) to improve the production of syngas (a mixture of $H_2$ and CO) and the catalyst stability. The plasma-catalytic DRP was carried out with either thermally or plasma-reduced $Ni-CeO_2/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalyst at a $C_3H_8/CO_2$ ratio of 1/3 and a total feed gas flow rate of $300mL\;min^{-1}$. The catalytic activities associated with the DRP were evaluated in the range of $500{\sim}600^{\circ}C$. Following the calcination in ambient air, the ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ impregnated with the precursor solution ($Ni(NO_3)_2$ and $Ce(NO_3)_2$) was subjected to reduction in an $H_2/Ar$ atmosphere to prepare $Ni-CeO_2/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalyst. The characteristics of the catalysts were examined using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS), temperature programmed reduction ($H_2-TPR$), temperature programmed desorption ($H_2-TPD$, $CO_2-TPD$), temperature programmed oxidation (TPO), and Raman spectroscopy. The investigation revealed that the plasma-reduced $Ni-CeO_2/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalyst exhibited superior catalytic activity for the production of syngas, compared to the thermally reduced catalyst. Besides, the plasma-reduced $Ni-CeO_2/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalyst was found to show long-term catalytic stability with respect to coke resistance that is main concern regarding the DRP process.

Plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) is commonly used for Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) fabrication, and the process can easily be applied to industrial production lines. In this works, we developed novel magnetized radio frequency PECVD system for one line process of CNTs fabrication for charge storable electrode application. The system incorporates aspects of physical and chemical vapor deposition using capacitive coupled RF plasma and magnetic confinement coils. Using this magnetized RF-PECVD system, we firstly deposited Fe layer (about 200[nm]) on Si substrate by sputter method at the temperature of 300[$^{\circ}$] and hence prepared CNTs on the Fe catalyst layer and investigated fundamental properties by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman spectroscopy (RS). High-density, aligned CNTs can be grown on Fe/Si substrates at the temperature of 600[$^{\circ}$] or less.
The mechanism behind super-filling of high-aspect-ratio features with Cu by catalyst-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (CECVD) coupled with plasma treatment is described and the metrology required to predict the filling feasibility is identified and quantified. The reaction probability of a Cu precursor was determined as a function of substrate temperature. Iodine adatoms are deactivated by the bombardment of energetic particles and also by the overdeposition of sputtered Cu atoms during the plasma treatment. The degree of deactivation of adsorbed iodine was experimentally quantified. The quantified factors, reaction probability and degree of deactivation of iodine were introduced to the simulation for the prediction of the trench filling aspect by CECVD coupled with plasma treatment. Simulated results show excellent agreement with the experimental filling aspects.

Non-thermal plasma decomposition of gas-phase styrene was investigated in this study using three different types of plasma reactors; dielectric-barrier discharge (DBD) reactor, surface discharge (SD) reactor and plasma-driven catalyst (PDC) reactor packed with 2.0 wt% $Ag/TiO_2$ catalysts. The main parameters used for the comparative assessment of the plasma reactors include the decomposition efficiency, carbon balance, byproduct distribution, COx ($CO+CO_2$) selectivity and COx yield. The SD and the DBD reactors showed better conversion efficiency of styrene than that of the PDC reactor due to their larger capability in ozone formation. On the other hand, the PDC reactor showed better carbon balance, the yield and the selectivity of COx. The required specific input energies to achieve 100% carbon balance from the decomposition of 100 ppmv styrene using the plasma alone reactors and the PDC reactor were 420 J/L and 110 J/L, respectively. The major decomposition products in gas-phase were CO, $CO_2$ and HCOOH regardless of the types of plasma reactors. In the case of SD and DBD reactors, the $CO_2$ selectivity ranged in $39.5{\sim}60%$. The $CO_2$ selectivity in the PDC reactor was in range of $68.5{\sim}75.5%$.
The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitrogen oxides (NOx) was investigated in a catalyst (Ag/γ-Al2O3) packed dielectric barrier discharge plasma reactor. The intermittent generation of plasma in the catalyst bed partially oxidized the hydrocarbon reductant for NOx removal to several aldehydes. Compared to using the catalyst alone, higher NOx conversion was observed with the intermittent generation of plasma due to the formation of highly reductive aldehydes. Under the same operating conditions (temperature: 250 ℃; C/N: 8), the NOx reduction efficiencies were 47.5%, 92%, and 96% for n-heptane, propionaldehyde, and butyraldehyde, respectively, demonstrating the high NOx reduction capability of aldehydes. To determine the optimal condition for intermittent plasma generation, the high voltage on/off cycle was adjusted from 0.5 to 3 min. The NOx reduction performance was compared between continuous and intermittent plasma generation on the same energy density basis. The highest NOx reduction efficiency was achieved at 2-min high voltage on/off intervals. The reason that the intermittent plasma discharge exhibited higher NOx reduction efficiency even at the same energy density, compared to the continuous plasma generation case, is that the intermediate products, such as aldehydes generated from hydrocarbon, were more efficiently utilized for the reduction of nitrogen oxides.
A brief review on the thermal plasma synthesis of nano-sized powders is presented according to the application materials, such as, metals, ceramics, glasses, carbonaceous materials and other functional composites, such as, supported metal catalyst and core-shell structured nano materials. As widely adopted plasma sources available for thermal plasma synthesis of nanosized powders, three kinds of plasma torches, such as transferred and non-transferred DC and RF plasma torches, are introduced with the main features of each torch system. In the basis of the described torch features and the properties of suggested materials, application results including synthesis mechanism are reviewed in this paper.

Low temperature plasma applied with partial oxidation is a technique to produce synthesis gas from methane. Low temperature plasma reformer has superior miniaturization and start-up characteristics to reformers using steam reforming or CO$_2$ reforming. In this research, a low temperature plasma reformer using GlidArc discharge was proposed. Reforming characteristics for each of the following variables were studied: gas components ratio (O$_2$/CH$_4$), the amount of steam, comparison of reaction on nickle and iron catalysts and the amount of CO$_2$. The optimum conditions for hydrogen production from methane was found. The maximum Hydrogen concentration of 41.1% was obtained under the following in this condition: O$_2$/C ratio of 0.64, total gas flow of 14.2 L/min, catalyst reactor temperature of 672$^{\circ}C$, the amount of steam was 0.8, reformer energy density of 1.1 kJ/L with Ni catalyst in the catalyst reactor. At this point, the methane conversion rate, hydrogen selectivity and reformer thermal efficiency were 66%, 93% and 35.2%, respectively.

The catalytic oxidation of benzene, toluene and xylene over a spent industrial catalyst (Pd-based) was investigated in a fixed bed flow reactor system. According to the priming condition, the properties of a spent Pd-based catalyst were characterized by XRD(X-ray diffraction). BET(Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) and ICP(Inductively coupled plasma). When air was used as a primer, optimum priming temperature was found to be 200$^{\circ}C$, and the catalytic activity decreased as the priming temperature increased. When a spent Pd-based catalyst primed with air at 200$^{\circ}C$ was re-treated with hydrogen at 200$^{\circ}C$, 300$^{\circ}C$ or 400$^{\circ}C$, respectively, the catalytic activity increased and thermal effect were negligible. $HNO_3$ aqueous solution priming resulted in slight decrease of the catalytic activity, with little effects on $HNO_3$ concentrations. The activity of a spent Pd-based catalyst with respect to VOC molecule was observed to follow sequence: xylene> toluene> benzene. Benzene. toluene and xylene could be removed to almost 100% by a spent Pd-based catalyst primed with hydrogen.

A study on the in situ regeneration effect of commercial deactivated SCR catalyst which had been exposed to the off gas from the heavy oil fired power plant for a long time was carried out in a simulated in situ conditions by washing with distilled water and various acid solutions in a short time. The catalytic performance test of the regenerated SCR catalysts was carried out in the micro reactor with simulated off gas of the heavy oil fired power plant and all prepared catalysts were characterized by BET, Porosimeter, EDX (Energy Dispersive X-ray spectrometer) and ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma) to investigate correlations between catalytic activity and surface characteristics of them. The characterization results of the regenerated catalysts showed that the specific surface area was restored 95% more than that of fresh catalyst. Under this study, the activity of the regenerated catalysts with acid solution (3~6 M) without using ultrasonic wave in a simulated in situ conditions was restored 90% more than that of the fresh catalyst. It was found that improved activity of regenerated catalyst was caused by removing the deactivating materials from the surface of the deactivated SCR catalyst through acid washing.

The commercial $V_2O_5-WO_3/TiO_2$ catalysts which had been exposed to the off gas from incinerator for a long time were regenerated by physical and chemical treatment. The catalytic properties and NOx conversion reactivity of those catalysts were examined by analysis equipment and NOx conversion experiment. The characterization of the catalysts were performed by XRD(x-ray diffractometer), BET, POROSIMETER, EDX(energy dispersive x-ray spectrometer), ICP(inductively coupled plasma), TGA(thermogravimetric analyzer) and SEM (scanning electron microscopy). NOx conversion experiment were performed with simulated off gas of the incinerator and $NH_3$ was used as a reductant of SCR reaction. Among the regeneration treatment methods which were applied to regenerate the aged catalysts in this study, it showed that the heat treatment method had excellent regeneration effect on the catalytic performance for NOx conversion. The catalytic performance of the regenerated catalysts with heat treatment method were recovered over than 95% of that of fresh catalyst. For the regenerated catalysts with the acid solution(pH 5) and the alkali solution(pH 12), the catalytic performance were recovered over than 90% of that of fresh catalyst. From the characterization results of the regenerated catalysts, the specific surface area was recovered in the range of $85{\sim}95%$ of that of fresh catalyst. S and Ca element, which are well known as the deactivation materials for the SCR catalysts, accumulated on the aged catalyst surface were removed up to maximum 99%. Among the P, Cr, Zn and Pb elements accumulated on the aged catalyst surface, P, Cr and Zn element were removed up to 95%. But the Pb element were removed in the range of $10{\sim}30%$ of that of fresh catalyst.
