Maintaining structural integrity of major apparatuses in a nuclear power plant, including piping system, is recognized as a critical safety issue. The integrity of piping system is also a critical matter related to the safety of a nuclear power plant. The actual failure mode of a piping system due to a seismic load is the leakage due to a fatigue crack, and the structural damage mechanism is the low-cycle fatigue due to large relative displacement that may cause plastic deformation. In this study, in-plane cyclic loading tests were conducted under various constant amplitudes using specimens composed of steel straight pipes and a steel pipe tee in the piping system of a nuclear power plant. The loading amplitude was increased to consider the relative displacement generated in the piping system under seismic loads, and the test was conducted until leakage, which is the limit state of the steel pipe tee, occurred due to fatigue cracks. The limit state of the steel pipe tee was expressed using a damage model based on the damage index that used the force-displacement relationship. As a result, it was confirmed that the limit state of the steel pipe tee can be quantitatively expressed using the damage index.

Floristic study can help to understand the current status of species diversity, evaluate and predict distribution changes of plants based on the specimens, and record the climate environment and biodiversity of the Korean Peninsula. Boraebong is an area that has plant resources of conservation value, but there is concern about artificial interference through trail and forest road. Therefore, this study aims to report the vascular plants of Boraebong based on voucher specimens and photos and to use them as baseline data to conserve biodiversity of Boraebong. Also, it will be useful to prevent additional influx of invasive species through comparison with previous studies. The investigation was carried out 11 times from April to September in 2022 and confirmed a total of 455 taxa including 87 families, 269 genera, 401 species, 13 subspecies, 35 varieties, 6 forms. In addition, we confirmed the 4 taxa of red list plants (EN 2 taxa, NT 2 taxa), 18 taxa of Korean endemic plants, and 102 taxa of floristic target species (V degree 1 taxon, IV degree 16 taxa, III degree 31 taxa, II degree 31 taxa, I degree 23 taxa). Furthermore, alien plants 17 taxa, invasive species 2 taxa, useful plants 439 taxa were confirmed in Boraebong. As the results of comparison with previous studies, 98 total taxa including 38 families, 76 genera, 86 species, 1 subspecies, 8 varieties, 3 forms were newly identified in this study.
This study was carried out to elucidate floristic data of Chirisan National Park by performing practical field investigation for 1 year and literatures survey simultaneously in 2004. The data from field study were yielded based on voucher specimens. Total number and components of flora of Chirisan National Park is revealed as 1,825 taxa. Among 1,825 taxa, 708 taxa were identified in this field study, and these were comprised 37 orders, 109 families, 382 genera, 590 species 3 subspecies 95 varities 20 forms. Unconfirmed taxa in field but recorded previous literatures were 1,117 taxa, which consist of 41 orders 130 families 500 genera 901 species 9 subspecies 140 varities 67 forms. In conclusion, there may be provisionally 1,825 (708+1,117) taxa in Chirisan National Park. The 43 taxa were firstly found out in this field study. In the floristic data from field study, the number of Korean endemic plants were 31 taxa, the rare and endangered plants which was designated by Korea Forest Service were 21 taxa, the taxa that is more than the third degree among the floristic regional indicator plants which was designated by Korean Ministry of Environment were 40 taxa, and naturalized alien plants to Korea were 27 taxa respectively. Among 1,117 taxa which were not found in this study but recorded in 22 previous literatures, the number of Korean endemic plants were 45 taxa, the rare and endangered plants which was designated by Korea Forest Service were 45 taxa, the taxa that is more than the third degree among the floristic regional indicator plants which was designated by Ministry of Environment were 121 taxa, and naturalized alien plants to Korea were 31 taxa. It can be inferred that the vegetation of Chirisan National Park was changing by some factors and valuable plant resources were tend to diminishing by such as human interference and developments.

Recently, researches related to precast modular construction have been actively conducted for nuclear power plant, LNG gas tank, and small-medium PCCV as well as bridges and buildings. In this study, the precast panel cast with steel mesh reinforced mortar (SRM) which is similar reinforced ferrocement was developed for efficient precast construction, construction time reduction, and easy transportation. Mortar mixture with high strength and flowability was obtained from various case studies using silica fume and GGBS. Also, $1,200{\times}600{\times}150mm$ SRM and reinforced concrete (RC) panels were manufactured with reinforcing ratio of 2% and 4%. To verify structural performance of the SRM specimen, the basic material tests, free shrinkage test, and 3-point flexural test with a line loading were carried out. From the test results, it was determined that SRM specimens showed outstanding flexural capacity and ductility. However, the 4% reinforced SRM specimens must consider shear reinforcing to be used as a precast modular member.
The structural damping ratios for seismic design of nuclear power plant structures are specified in Regulatory guide 1.61 of the United States NRC for RC structures of 4%(OBE) and 7%(SSE), and for steel structures of 3%(OBE) and 4%(SSE), but not for steel-plate concrete (SC) structures that have been developed recently. The objective of this study is to investigate the damping ratios of SC structures by identifying the relative differences in the damping ratios between RC and SC structures. An experimental study was performed on four specimens, RC-S, RC-M, SC-S and SC-M, where S stands for shear-governed and M for moment-governed. The conducted method was free vibration testing by rupturing a brittle steel plate that linked the actuator and the mass center. The test results were analyzed to determine fundamental frequencies and damping ratios at various load levels. By examining the relative differences in damping ratios of four specimens, it is proposed for SC structures to use the same damping ratio of 4% as RC one at OBE, but 1% less damping ratio than RC one resulting in 6% at SSE.

Recently the world wide efforts reduce occurrence of $CO_2$; global warming main reason. The aim of this study is to improve recycling rate of the fly ash (FA) and fused waste slag (FWS) from the power plant and to carbonate under supercritical condition ($40^{\circ}C$, $80kgf/cm^2$ pressure, 60 min) for $CO_2$ fixation. Specimens of mortar with various mixing ratios of FA, FWS (from 100:0 to 20:80 in 5 steps of 20 % reduction each time), distilled water and 3 M NaOH alkali activators were prepared. As a result, the proportion of weight change ratio increases with CaO content, to 12 % after carbonation under the supercritical condition. There is difference of compressive strength between the carbonated and the alkali activator mortar specimens. The stabilization of $CO_2$ fixation through carbonation which could confirm the applicability of the eco-friendly materials without loss of compressive strength.
The objective of the present study is to evaluate the shear transfer capacity of transverse reinforcement at the concrete interfaces with smooth construction joint. The transverse reinforcing bars were classified into two groups: V-type for the arrangement perpendicular to the interface and X-type for inclined-crossing arrangement. The transverse reinforcement ratio at the interface varied from 0.0045 to 0.0135 for V-type and 0.0064 to 0.0045 for X-type. The mechanism analysis proposed for monolithic concrete interface, derived based on the upper-bound theorem of concrete plasticity, was modified to evaluate the shear friction capacity of concrete interfaces with smooth construction joint. Test results showed that the specimens with X-type reinforcement had lower amount of relative slippage at the interface and higher shear friction capacity than the companion specimens with V-type reinforcement. This observation was independent of the unit weight of concrete. The mean and standard deviation of the ratios between the experimental shear friction strength of smooth construction joints and predictions obtained from the proposed model are 1.07 and 0.14, respectively.

The glass-ceramics containing bottom ash (B/A) which was a by-produced from an electrical power plant was fabricated and its crystalline phase, microstructure and mechanical properties were analyzed. At first, the glass was fabricated by adding modifier oxide $Li_2O$ to lower the melting temperature of coal bottom ash. The glass obtained was heat-treated by using a 2-stage process to crystallize, that is to say, to increase the degree of crystallization in the glass-ceramics, the first heat treatment for nucleation was performed followed by the secondary one for the growth of nucleates. The main crystalline phase formed in the glass-ceramics was ${\beta}$-spodumene and the secondary phase was $L_2SiO_3$. It was recognized that the degree of crystallization of glass-ceramics was increased with a holding time of the secondary heat treatment stage. In the case of the specimens hold up to 3 hour, the crystallization was not completed and the microstructures and morphologies of crystalline phase were not uniform. In the specimens of holding time over 9 hours, the cracks were generated inside of it, so its compressive strength would decrease due them. In conclusion, it was able to obtain the optimum condition to fabriate the glass-ceramics having the properties of high crystallization degree, uniform microstructures and morphologies and the high mechanical strength.
Oomycetes belong to the kingdom Straminipila, a remarkably diverse group which includes brown algae and planktonic diatoms, although they have previously been classified under the kingdom Fungi. These organisms have evolved both saprophytic and pathogenic lifestyles, and more than 60% of the known species are pathogens on plants, the majority of which are classified into the order Peronosporales (includes downy mildews, Phytophthora, and Pythium). Recent phylogenetic investigations based on DNA sequences have revealed that the diversity of oomycetes has been largely underestimated. Although morphology is the most valuable criterion for their identification and diversity, morphological species identification is time-consuming and in some groups very difficult, especially for non-taxonomists. DNA barcoding is a fast and reliable tool for identification of species, enabling us to unravel the diversity and distribution of oomycetes. Accurate species determination of plant pathogens is a prerequisite for their control and quarantine, and further for assessing their potential threat to crops. The mitochondrial cox2 gene has been widely used for identification, taxonomy and phylogeny of various oomycete groups. However, recently the cox1 gene was proposed as a DNA barcode marker instead, together with ITS rDNA. To determine which out of cox1 or cox2 is best suited as universal oomycete barcode, we compared these two genes in terms of (1) PCR efficiency for 31 representative genera, as well as for historic herbarium specimens, and (2) in terms of sequence polymorphism, intra- and interspecific divergence. The primer sets for cox2 successfully amplified all oomycete genera tested, while cox1 failed to amplify three genera. In addition, cox2 exhibited higher PCR efficiency for historic herbarium specimens, providing easier access to barcoding type material. In addition, cox2 yielded higher species identification success, with higher interspecific and lower intraspecific divergences than cox1. Therefore, cox2 is suggested as a partner DNA barcode along with ITS rDNA instead of cox1. Including the two barcoding markers, ITS rDNA and cox2 mtDNA, the multi-locus phylogenetic analyses were performed to resolve two complex clades, Bremia lactucae (lettuce downy mildew) and Peronospora effuse (spinach downy mildew) at the species level and to infer evolutionary relationships within them. The approaches discriminated all currently accepted species and revealed several previously unrecognized lineages, which are specific to a host genus or species. The sequence polymorphisms were useful to develop a real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) assay for detection of airborne inoculum of B. lactucae and P. effusa. Specificity tests revealed that the qPCR assay is specific for detection of each species. This assay is sensitive, enabling detection of very low levels of inoculum that may be present in the field. Early detection of the pathogen, coupled with knowledge of other factors that favor downy mildew outbreaks, may enable disease forecasting for judicious timing of fungicide applications.

Coupons which have same figure as weld joint of the forged steel valves and 1 inch nominal weld thickness were manufactured using ASTM A182 F92 material. After welding with GTAW method, the welded specimens have been post-weld heat treated at $705^{\circ}C$, $735^{\circ}C$, $750^{\circ}C$, $765^{\circ}C$, $795^{\circ}C$ and $825^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour per 1 inch nominal weld thickness each (Group 1) to evaluate characteristics of welds based on various holding temperature. Indeed, 3 welded specimens were post-weld heat treated for 30 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hour (Group 2) at $735^{\circ}C$ to evaluate characteristics of welds based on various holding time. Hardness values were measured at the weld metal, heat affected zone and base metal to observe hardness change depending on the condition. As a result of the evaluation, appropriate holding temperature for PWHT is proved as $750^{\circ}C$ and $765^{\circ}C$ for 1hour per 1 inch nominal weld thickness. Indeed, holding for 1 hour per 1 inch nominal weld thickness was insufficient for PWHT effect when the holding temperature was at $735^{\circ}C$. The microstructure of post-weld heat treated weld metal was determined as tempered-martensite structure.
