This study was carried out to investigate the ecological succession sere and conservative value, and to provide the basic data in Woonsooam Valley, in Jogyesan (Mt.) (altitude 884m), Suncheon City, Korea by analysing the structure of the plant community. Fifteen plots (size is $20m{\times}20m$) were set up at an altitude of range from 255m to 495m. As a result of analysis of DCA which is one of the ordination technique, the plant communities were divided into five groups which are community I (Pinus densiflora community), community II (Quercus variabilis-Quercus serrata community), community III (Q. serrata-Q. variabilis community), and community IV (Carpinus tschonoskii-Q. serrata community) and community v(Deciduous broad-leaved forest community). We found out that the vegetation of the study site located in the South Temperate Climate Zone. The study site is found out that Q. serrata community 34.4%, part of slope in valley is the distribution that dominant species is Q. serrata-Q. variabilis community 32.1%. And in valley showed Carpinus tschonoskii community 5.5%. And Sasa borealis was dominant species in the shrub layer. We couldn't supposed that the ecological succession sere of the study site, however we should do a long-term monitoring to investigate the changes of the ecological succession each plant community, According to the index of Shannon's diversity (unit: $400m^2$), community III was ranged from 1.0102 to 1.1013, community V was 0.9945, community II was ranged from 0.7913 to 1.1503, community IV was ranged from 0.8081 to 1.0749 and community I was 0.9273.
A survey of subalpine zone (altitude is 1, 440-1, 700m) in Mt. Halla, was conducted using 37 sampling plots of l00$m^2$ size. The classification by TWINSPAN and RA. DCA ordination were applied to the study area in order to classify them based on woody plants and environmental variables. And to investigate vegetation deterioration by livestock's and user's impact on subalpine zone, seventeen plots were set up. By TWINSPAN techniques, the plant community were divided into five groups by the altitude. The dividing groups are Abies koreana-Taxus cuspidata community, Rhododendron yedoense var. poukhanense-Rh. mucronulatum var. ciliatum-Sasa quelpaertensis community, Ilex crenata- Elaeagnus umbellata-S. quelpaertensis community, Rh. yedoense var. poukhallense-Juniperus chinensis var. sargentii-Rh. mucronulatum var. ciliatum community and Empetrum nigrum var. japonicum-J. chinensis var. sargentii community. The species divirsity of plant community were decreased severely by livestock's and user's impact.
Marine algal flora and community structure were seasonally examined at three sites in the vicinity of the Wolseong nuclear power plant in Korea from February to November 2006. A total of 126 seaweeds including 25 green, 31 brown, 70 red algae, and 1 marine plant were identified. The greatest number of species occurred at Jeonchonri (101 species) followed by intake (88 species) and discharge (29 species) during the study period. Of 126 seaweeds, 76 annuals and 13 warm tolerance species were recorded. Dominant species based on important value (IV > 10) were Ulva pertusa and Enteromorpha linza at intake, U. pertusa and Padina arborescens at discharge, and Sargassum horneri and Corallina pilulifera at Jeonchonri shore. Annual average biomass exhibited a wide range of variations, from 40.67g m-2 in dry weight at discharge to 133.69g m-2 at Jeonchonri. Among six functional groups, dominant group was coarsely-branched form at intake and Jeonchonri, but it was different at discharge site as filamentous form. Seaweed community structures of discharge site were distinguishable in decreasing species richness, biomass, species diversity index (H’), richness index (R), and evenness index (J’). Also, the ratios of green algae, warm tolerance species, annual algae, filamentous form and dominance index (DI) remarkably increased. Such phenomenons of discharge site are usually found under environmentally stressful conditions such as high disturbance. Thus, I can conclude that the heated effluents of nuclear power plant act as environmental stress influencing seaweed community structures and it can be detected with various community indices.
To study the plant community structure of Chayang-chon area from Jangsudae to Hangyeryung in Soraksan National Park, 62 plots(each size 100m$^2$) were set up and surveyed. Six communities(Pinus densiflora - Populus caximowiczii community, P. densiflora community, P. densiflora - Deciduous broad-leaved tree community, Quercus mongolica community, Q. mongolica - Carpinus cordata community, C. cordata - Deciduous broad- leaved tree community) were classified by DCA ordination techniques. Q. mongolica community, Q. mongolica - C. cordata and C. cordata - Deciduous broad-leaved tree community were distrivuted over altitude 755m, and the others were distributed below there. In the community over altitude 755m, the succession that Q. mongolica community changed to C. cordata community have proceeded partly and otherwise C. cordata community and Deciduous broad-leaved tree community have been competing with each other. In the community with distribytion range from 500m to 560, high, P. densiflora community would change deciduous broad-leaved tree community forward.
In this study, we investigated the relationship between noise reduction and the community structure of nine groups of typical plant communities as well as the reduction in noise at different frequencies. The semantic differential method was adopted to explore the perception of noise reduction. The results indicated that there was a significantly positive correlation between noise reduction and coverage, a significantly negative correlation between noise reduction and bifurcate height, and a negative correlation between noise reduction and bare rate. However, there was no significant correlation between noise reduction and height, diameter at breast height, or crown width. The reduction of middle-frequency noise was better than that of low- and high-frequency noise. The indicators "quiet" and "calm" showed that plant communities could reduce the noise perceived by humans. However, overly dense woodland caused nervousness, fear, depression, and other negative effects. Relatively open environments and those with large forest gaps obtained the highest evaluation.
This study was conducted to investigated the plant community structure and to revaluate the part of plant ecosystem on statement of environmental impact assessment in Muju resort golf course, Solch'on area, Tokyusan National Park. The actual vegetation was comprised of Pinus densiflora-Quercus mongolica-Q. serrata community(33.21%), Q. spp. community(27.30%), P. densiflora community(20.68%) and high mountain marsh(4.93%) etc., which communities were the major vegetation and the forest vegetation was came to being a peculiar to environmental condition. The degree of green naturality 8, 9 was covered 93% in survey area, and so this result reflect the stability of ecosystem. There was all the difference between the statement of environmental impact assessment of development concerned and this study result in the estimation of degree of green naturality. The plant community were divided into six groups in fifty-four plots by DCA and the dividing groups were P. densiflora, P. densiflora-Q. mongolica, P. densiflora-Q. serrata-F. mandschurica-B. davurica, Q. mongolica-Q. serrata-P. densiflora, Q. mongolica-Q. variabilis, Salix koreansis- B. davurica community. Except P. densiflora forest in survey site, the ecological succession trend of the other communities was seemed to be from P. densiflora to Q. spp.
A survey of the Chundong valley forest in Mt. Sobaek was conducted using 20 sample plots of 500$m^2$ size. The classification by TWINSPAN and DCA, CCA ordination techniques were applied to the study area in order to classify them into several groups based on woody plants and environmental variables. By TWINSPAN techniques, the plant community were divided into four groups. The dividing groups are Pinus densiflora community, Qurcus variabilis -Q. mongolica -P. densiflora community, Fraxinus rhynchophylla community. The successional trends of tree species by DCA ordination techniques and DBH class distribution analysis seems to be from P. densiflora through Q. mongolica. Q. variabilis to F rhynchophylla. The correlation between the score of first two axes and soil pH, soil humus, soil calcium concentration, soil magnesium concentration was significantly positive in CCA ordination. The positive correlation between the score of first two axes of F. rhynchophylla community and soil humus, soil magnesium concentration and between ones of P. densiflora community and soil pH were calculated. But there is no correlation between species and environmental variables.
A study of the vascular hydrophyte communities was undertaken in the wetlands of Imjado, Shinangun, from March to November, 2006. As a result, the vegetation was divided into 15 communities. Among them, emergent hydrophytes consisted of 9 communities, including Phragmites communis community, Typha angustata community, Paspalum disticum var. indutum community, Sparganium erectum community, Oenanthe javanica community, Echinochloa crusgalli var. crusgalli community, Juncus effusus var. decipiens community, Aneilema keisak community and Persicaria thunbergii community, floating hydrophytes 1 community Trapa japonica community, free-floating hydrophytes 2 communities including Lemna paucicostata community and Spirodela polyrhiza community, and submergent hydrophyte 2 community, including Myriophyllum verticillatum community and Potamogeton distinctus community. These results were considered that the wetland of Imjado was characterized by the typical structure of aquatic plant ecosystem.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the plant community structure and identify the change for 13 years(1983~1996) of forest around Youcheon industrial complex, Korea. 27 plots(300$m^2$/1plot) were established in forest around Youcheon industrial complex. By DCA ordination technique, the 27 plots were classified into five communities, which were Pinus thunbergii community, Pinus thunbergii-Quercus spp. community, P. thunbergii-Eurya japonica community, P. densiflora-P. thunbergii community and P. densiflora community. It seemed that P. thunbergii-Quercus app. community and P. densiflora-P. thunbergii community succeeded to Quercus spp. community and it seemed that P. thunbergii community, P. thunbergii-E. japonica community and P. densiflora community would not be replace by another woody species. Soil pH was pH 4.38~4.61, there were bad soil for organic matters content and exchangeable cations(C $a^{++}$, $Mg^{++}$, $K^{+}$) content. Shannon's diversity, H' max and number of species were improved for 13 years. So did soil characteristics.s.s.s.
This text was analyzed and investigated the vegetation and floristic composition by cluster analysis and classification of phytosociological method, to evaluate the species composition, habitat environment and community structure of Liriope platyphylla and Liriope spicata group in Korea. The southeast slope gradient of the habitat of L. platyphylla and L. spicata was 6.7 to 8.4%, and the habitat altitude of L. platyphylla (41.0 m), L. spicata (114.9 m) was different. Habitat distribution of L. spicata was broader than L. platyphylla. Appearing plants of L. platyphylla and L. spicata group was 58 taxa, 99 taxa, respectively, and Coverage of tree layer was 87.5%, 92.5% respectively. In genus Liriope group, the highest appearing frequency of plant grow in the moist valley as Quercus serrata. Thus, plants of genus Liriope growth was better in moist shade. The vegetation of L. platyphylla group was classified into Quercus serrata community, Castanopsis sieboldii community, Pinus densiflora community and Pinus thunbergii community, and the Liriope spicata group was classified into Quercus serrata community, Quercus alien community, Quercus acutissima community, Prunus verecunda community, Robinia pseudoacacia community, Pinus densiflora community and Pinus thunbergii community. In genus Liriope group, Quercus serrata and Pinus densiflora communities was the closest the similarities.
