Although it produces well-treated water in water treatment plant, water quality at the tap can be changed depending on the state of pipes. It is because water quality deteriorates as plant water passes through pipeline networks. Therefore, the improvement of not only water treatment technology but also O & M of water pipelines is required to supply good water to consumers. The purpose of the study was to obtain the basic data of control technology for water quality in pipes through investigating water quality in distribution system. We selected 11 sampling sites and investigated water quality from plant to endpoint of distribution system. we also simulated decreasing tendency of free chlorine through pipeline network. As the result of water quality test, all parameters were below allowable levels, but some parameters had the possibility of being over levels. So there must be more work to set up proper countermeasure for violable parameters.
The gas-turbine generator of Seo-Incheon combined-cycle plant was tested for derivation of a model for dynamic analysis. Load rejection and AVR step test was performed to get the dynamic response of generator. The parameters of generator/control system model were determined by these measured data. No-load saturation test was performed for the saturation characteristics of the generator under steady state. V-curve test was also performed so as to find exact generator parameters. Q-axis parameters of generator was derived by measuring power angle. AVR and governor constants have been tuned by their oscillatory period and setting time characteristics. The derived parameters of generator control system is verified by one-machine infinite bus system simulation. (author). 7 refs., 20 figs., 5 tabs.
High soil salinity is the most severe threat to global rice production as it causes a significant decline in rice yield. Here, we investigated the effects of various plant extracts on rice plant stress associated with high salinity. Additionally, we examined various physiological and biochemical parameters such as growth, photosynthetic activity, chlorophyll content, and lipid peroxidation - in rice plants after treatment with selected plant extracts under salt stress conditions. Of the 11 extracts tested, four - soybean leaf, soybean stem, moringa (Moringa oleifera), and Undaria pinnatifida extracts - were found to effectively reduce salt stress. A reduction of only 3-23% in shoot fresh weight was observed in rice plants under salt stress that were treated with these extracts, compared to the 43% reduction observed in plants that were exposed to stress but not given plant extract treatments (control plants). The effectiveness varied with the concentration of the plant extracts. Water content was higher in rice plants treated with the extracts than in the control plants after 6 d of salt stress, but not after 4 d of salt stress. Although photosynthetic efficiency (Fv/Fm), electron transport rate (ETR), and the content of pigments (chlorophyll and carotenoid) varied based on the types and levels of stress and the extracts that the rice plants were treated with, generally, photosynthetic efficiency and pigment content were higher in the treated rice compared to control plants. Reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as superoxide radicals, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and malondialdehyde (MDA), increased as the duration of stress increased. ROS and MDA levels were lower in the treated rice than in the control plants. Proline and soluble sugar accumulation also increased with the duration of the stress period. However, proline and soluble sugar accumulation were lower in the treated rice than in the control plants. Generally, the values of all the parameters investigated in this study were similar, regardless of the plant extract used to treat the rice plants. Thus, the extracts found to be effective can be used to alleviate the adverse effects of stress on rice crops associated with high-salinity soils.
Among those tests performed during the Yonggwang Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4 (YGN 3&4) Power Ascension Test period, the Loss of a Main Feedwater Pump test at l00% power is one of the major test which characterize the capability of YGN 3&4. In this event, one of the two normally operating main feedwater pumps is tripped resulting in a 50% reduction in the feedwater flow. Unless the NSSS and Turbine/Generator control systems actuate properly, the reactor will be tripped on low SG water level or high pressurizer pressure. The test performed at Unit 3 was successful by meeting all acceptance criteria, and the plant was stabilized at a reduced power level without reactor trip. The measured test data for the major plant parameters are compared with the predictions made by the KISPAC computer code, an updated best-estimate plant performance analysis code, to verify and validate its applicability. The comparison results showed good agreement in the magnitude as well as the trends of the major plant parameters. Therefore, the KISPAC code can be utilized for the best-estimate nuclear power plant design and simulation tool after a further verification using other plant test data.
The changes of O-J-I-P transients were investigated using leaves of four subtropical plant species (Crinum asiaticum var. japonicum, Osmanthus insularis, Chloranthus glaber and Asplenium antiquum) under the natural conditions in winter, in order to select the stress indicators for diagnosing physiological states of plants under low temperature. In the O-J-I-P transients of these species, the fluorescence intensity was found to be higher in O-step and lower in P-step in winter than in summer. Particularly, the fluorescence intensity of the P-step in Crinum asiaticum var. japonicum was lower than those of other three plant species, indicating that Crinum asiaticum var. japonicum is the most sensitive to low temperature. Of the chlorophyll fluorescence parameters derived from O-J-I-P transients of four subtropical plants, Fm, Fv/Fo, ABS/CS, TRo/CS, $\phi_{po}$ and $\phi_{po}/(1-\phi_{po})$ decreased significantly with the increase of Fo, Sm, N, EToICS, ETo/RC and $\psi_o/(1-\psi_o)$ depending on temperature drop in winter. Therefore, these parameters could be used as indicators for estimating low temperature stress and diagnosing physiological states of plants under the natural conditions in winter.
Large scale display panel(LSDP) is a main component in the next generation main control rooms. LSDP is located at the front of VDU-based operator's workstation and plays an important role in providing operators with overall information of plant status through mimic diagram, text/digit, graph, and so on. A critical matter determined at the first stage of LSDP design is how much information is displayed, because the information density of LSDP affects operator's performance. Many human factors guidelines recommend low information density of displays to avoid degrade of operator's performance, but doesn't provide a useful limit of information density. In this paper, we considered information density as the number of plant parameters and investigated the proper number of plant parameters through a human factors experiment. The experiment with 4 subjects was carried out and response time, error, and heart rate variation as criterion measures were recorded and analyzed. As the results, it is identified that the proper number of parameters in a LSDP is about thirty.
Abstract - In this paper, an adaptive mechanism based on immune algorithm is designed and it is applied for the autonomous guided vehicle(AGV) driving. When the immune algorithm is applied to the PID controller, there exists the case that the plant is damaged due to the abrupt change of PID parameters since the parameters are adjusted almost randomly. To solve this problem, a neural network is used to model the plant and the parameter tuning of the model is performed by the immune algorithm. After the PID parameters are determined in this off-line manner, these gains are then applied to the plant for the on-line control using immune adaptive algorithm. Moreover, even though the neural network model may not be accurate enough intially, the weighting parameters are adjusted to be accurate through the on-line fine tuning. The computer simulation for the control of steering and speed of AGV is performed. The results show that the proposed controller has better performances than other conventional controllers.

Design parameters for suction channels of process centrifugal compressors were investigated, and an optimization method to enhance stage efficiency by using the new design parameters was proposed. From results of computational fluid dynamics, the passage sectional area ratios $A_c/A_e$, $A_e/A_s$ and $A_c/A_s$ were found to be the dominant parameters for the pressure loss and circumferential flow distortion, where $A_c$, $A_e$ and $A_s$ are passage sectional areas for the casing upstream side, casing entrance and impeller eye, respectively. The Base suction channel was optimized using the new design parameters, and the Base and Optimized types were tested. Test results showed that the Optimized suction channel achieved 3.8% higher stage efficiency than the Base suction channel while maintaining the same operating range.
In this paper, we propose an adaptive mechanism based on immune algorithm and neural network identifier technique. It is also applied fur an autonomous guided vehicle (AGV) system. When the immune algorithm is applied to the PID controller, there exists the case that the plant is damaged due to the abrupt change of PID parameters since the parameters are almost adjusted randomly. To solve this problem, we use the neural network identifier (NNI) technique fur modeling the plant and humoral immune algorithm (HIA) which performs the parameter tuning of the considered model, respectively. After the PID parameters are determined in this off-line manner, these gains are then applied to the plant for the on-line control using an immune adaptive algorithm. Moreover, even though the neural network model may not be accurate enough initially, the weighting parameters are adjusted to be accurate through the on-line fine tuning. Finally, the simulation and experimental result fur the control of steering and speed of AGV system illustrate the validity of the proposed control scheme. These results for the proposed method also show that it has better performance than other conventional controller design methods.
