The diversity of epiphytic bacterial communities on deciduous oak tree (Quercus dentate Thunb.) leaves was examined both in the natural forest area with a clean air and in the industrial estate to assess effects of acidic deposition to the phyllosphere using 16S rDNA sequence data. In addition, acid-tolerant epiphytic bacterial communities were compared. A total of 78 epiphytic and 444 acid-tolerant clones were obtained from clone libraries, resulting in 20 and 17 phylotypes by analysis of restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) for PCR-amplified 16S rDNA products. A low bacterial diversity in both areas was found. As tree leaves grow older, bacterial diversities were slightly increased in the level of subphylum. The community structure of epiphytic bacteria in both areas in April consisted of only two subphyla, $\beta-and\;\gamma-Proteobacteria$. In August two additional subphyla in both areas were found, but the composition was a little different, Acidobacteria and Cytophaga-Flexibacter-Bacteroids (CFB) group in the industrial estate and a -Proteobacteria and CFB group in the natural area, respectively. Acidobacteria could be an indicator of epiphytic bacteria for acidic deposition on plant leaves, whereas a -Proteobacteria be one of epiphytic bacteria that naturally survive on leaves that are not affected by acidic deposition. The acid-tolerant bacterial communities in April were composed of two subphyla, $\gamma-Proteobacteria$ and Low G+C gram-positive bacteria in both areas, and in August a-Proteobacteria was added to the community just in the natural forest area. The direct influence of acidic deposition on the acid-tolerant bacterial phylogenetic composition could not be detected in higher taxonomic levels such as subphylum, but at narrower or finer levels it could be observed by a detection of Xanthomonadales group of $\gamma-Proteobacteria$ just in the industrial estate.

A Heat Recovery Steam Generator(HRSG) is the main component of a Combined Cycle Power Plant(CCPP). It is a very large structure that is made from relatively thin metal sheets. Therefore, the structural integrity of an HRSG is very important to ensure safe operation during plant lifetime. In particular, thermal deformation and thermal fatigue have been revealed as the main causes of the mechanical degradation of an HRSG. In order to prevent unexpected damage, safety evaluation based on a large-scale analysis is necessary. Therefore, this study aims to improve the safety of HRSG by using Finite Element Analysis(FEA) results derived from large-scale analysis. Furthermore, the modified design is verified by comparing it with the original one. This result will be used as basic data for improving the safety of a vertical-type HRSG.

This study disclosed the aqueous fruits extract of Rubus coreanus as a sustainable agent for the synthesis of Rubus coreanus zinc oxide nanoparticle (Rc-ZnO Nps) using as a reducing and capping precursor for co-precipitation method. The development of Rc-ZnO was assured by white precipitated powder and analyzed by spectroscopic and analytical instruments. The UV-visible (UV-Vis) studies indicate the maximum absorbance at 357nm which confirmed the formation of ZnO Nps and the purity, functional group and monodispersity were assured by field emission transmission electron microscopy (FE-TEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering (DLS). The X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) data revealed the Nps is 23.16 nm in size, crystalline in nature and possess hexagonal wurtzite structure. The Rc-ZnO Nps were subjected for catalytic studies. The Malachite Green dye was degraded by Rc- ZnO NPs in both dark and light (100 W tungsten) conditions and it degraded about 90% at 4 hours observation in both cases. The biodegradable, low cost Rc-ZnO NPs can be a better weapon for waste water treatment.
A study was made on the primary production of Lake Changjamot during the spring season of 1973 by menas of the oxygen method. The stratification of temperature and dissolved oxygen were formed in May with the stratified structure of phytoplankton. The range of Secchi disc transparency was from 0.8m to 2.3m during the nine months of this investigation, which was begun in January, 1973. The value was lowest in early June when the phytoplankton blooming reached the peak. The concentration of PO4-P, NH3-N, NO3-N and NO3-N was reduced at the beginning of the phytoplankton blooming and increased again after May except PO4-P. It might have been caused by the inflow of the nitogenous fertilizer from the surrounding agricultural area since May when farming was started. The total amount of chlorophyll-a in the entire water column varied from 25mg/$m^2$ to 277mg/$m^2$ from January till September with the maximum value occurring in early June. These values show a considerable eutrophication of the in comparison with the data obtained in 1969. The daily gross production in the lake varied from a low of 655mgC/$m^2$ to a high of 2,859 mgC/$m^2$ during the spring season and this corresponds to the variation of the amount of chlorophyll. The total amount of daily respiration varied from 650mg C/$m^2$ in winter to 2,307 mg C/$m^2$ in late spring and exceeds gross primary production especially in late May showing the negative balance of daily production and consumption of organic material at that time. In conclusion, Lake Changjamot is a fairly productive and a moderately autotrophic lake and has been eutrophicated much during the past four years.
This study describes data from determination of the optimum mix proportion and site application of the mass concrete placed in bottom slab and side wall having a large depth and section as main structures of LNG in-ground tank. This concrete requires low heat hydration, excellent balance between workability and consistency because concreting work of LNG in-ground tank is usually classified by under-pumping, adaptation of longer vertical and horizontal pumping line than ordinary pumping condition. For this purpose, low heat Portland cement and lime stone powder as cementitious materials are selected and design factors including unit cement and water content, water-binder ratio, fine aggregate ratio and adiabatic temperature rising are tested in the laboratory and batch plant. As experimental results, the optimum unit cement and water content are selected under $270kg/m^3$ and $l55{\~}l60 kg/m^3$ separately to control adiabatic temperature rising below $30^{\circ}C$ and to improve properties of the fresh and hardened concrete. Also, considering test results of the confined water ratio($\beta$p) and deformable coefficient(Ep), $30\%$ of lime stone powder by cement weight is selected as the optimum replacement ratio. After mix proportions of 5cases are tested and compared the adiabatic temperature rising($Q^{\infty}$, r), tensile and compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, teases satisfied with the required performances are chosen as the optimum mix design proportions of the side wall and bottom slab concrete. $Q^{\infty}$ and r are proved smaller than those of another project. Before application in the site, properties of the fresh concrete and actual mixing time by its ampere load are checked in the batch plant. Based on the results of this study, the optimum mix proportions of the massive concrete are applied successfully to the bottom slab and side wall in LNG in-ground tank.
This study examines performances of cooperatives relative to investor-owned firms in the US electric power industry. Using a panel data of firms from 2001 to 2014, the results show that cooperatives operate under conditions of more difficult capital constraints associated with the higher cost of debt and limited access to external equity capital. While investor-owned utilities, especially the large utilities that are less capital constrained, take benefits from substantial scale economies existing in the industry, the marginal cost of operation substantially increases with output for cooperatives. I do not find differences in profitability between the two ownership structures, measured by return on assets and return on equity. Plant capacity utilization, which is a measure of plant efficiency conditional on the operation, is also not statistically different between the two groups.
Phosphorus (P) is a macro mineral needed for bone mineralization and cell membrane structure and P is also involved in several fundamental pathways of metabolism in the body. Because of the low concentration and digestibility of P in plant ingredients that are the main components of diets for poultry and pigs, feed phosphates are usually included in diets in addition to the P contributed by plant ingredients. The most widely used feed phosphates in poultry and swine diets are dicalcium phosphate (DCP) and monocalcium phosphate (MCP), but tricalcium phosphate (TCP), monosodium phosphate (MSP), and magnesium phosphate (MgP) may be used as well. Because feed phosphates are mostly produced from rock phosphate, feed phosphates have impurities that contain minerals other than P. Concentrations of P in feed phosphates range from 14.8% (MgP) to 25.7% (MSP). The standardized total tract digestibility (STTD) of P in pigs ranges from 71% (TCP) to 95% (MSP). The STTD of Ca and the standardized ileal digestibility (SID) of P and Ca in feed phosphates fed to pigs and poultry have been determined only in a few experiments. Available data indicate that the STTD of Ca and SID of P in MCP are greater than in DCP in both poultry and pigs, but the SID of Ca is similar between DCP and MCP fed to broilers. Information on mineral concentrations and digestibility values in feed phosphates is needed in diet formulation for pigs and poultry, but if diets are formulated to contain equal concentrations of digestible P and Ca, it is unlikely that animal performance will be impacted by the source of feed phosphates used in the diet.

Silybum marianum is an annual or biennial plant from the Asteraceae family. It can grow in low-nutrient soil and drought conditions, making it easy to cultivate. From the seed, a specialized plant metabolite called silymarin (flavonolignan complex) is produced and is known to alleviate the liver from hepatitis and toxins damages. To infer the phylogenetic placement of a Korean milk thistle, we conducted a chloroplast assembly and annotation following by a comparison with existing Chinese reference genome (NC_028027). The chloroplast genome structure was highly similar with an assembly size of 152,642 bp, an 153,202 bp for Korean and Chinese milk thistle respectively. Moreover, there were similarities at the gene level, coding sequence (n = 82), transfer RNA (n = 31) and ribosomal RNA (n = 4). From all coding sequences gene set, the phylogenetic tree inference placed the Korean cultivar into the milk thistle clade; corroborating the expected tree. Moreover, an investigation the tree based only on the ycf1 gene confirmed the same tree; suggesting that ycf1 gene is a potential marker for DNA barcoding and population diversity study in milk thistle genus. Overall, the provided data represents a valuable resource for population genomics and species-centered determination since several species have been reported in the Silybum genus.
RAPD (random amplified polymorphic DNA) analysis was examined to detect variation of in vitro cultured 30 rhizomes of Cymbidium goeringii Lindley and Cymbidium kanran Makino, with long-term (8 years) subculture, respectively. Out of 151 DNA bands detected, the 40 were polymorphic with a polymorphic rate 26.4% in the C. goeringii. Out of 155 DNA bands detected, the 56 were polymorphic with a polymorphic rate 36.1% in the C. kanran. Genetic similarity matrix (GSM) shows from 0.825 to 1.00 with an average of 0.944 in the rhizomes of C. goeringii and 0.812 to 1.00 with an average of 0.913 in the C. kanran. According to the clustering analysis, C. goeringii was divided into 1 group and 2 independent individuals and its structure of clustering was simple than that of C. kanran. The higher polymorphism and the decreased GSM were showed in the long-term in vitro cultured C. goeringii and C. kanran supplemented with growth regulators. The results provide as fundamental data to develop a new materials for plant breeding and resources plant.
A bacterial strain antagonistic to some fungal phytopathogens was isolated from the stem of a Persimmon tree in Yeongam, Korea. This bacterium was identified as Bacillus subtilis by 16S rRNA gene sequencing and designated as B. subtilis GDYA-1. In in vivo experiment, the fermentation broth exhibited antifungal activities against Magnaporthe oryzae on rice plants, Phytophthora infestans on tomato plants, and Puccinia recondita on wheat plants. We isolated one antifungal compound and its chemical structure was determined by mass and $^1H$-NMR spectral data. The antifungal substance was identified as benzoic acid. It inhibited mycelial growth of M. oryzae, Rhizoctonia solani, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, and P. capsici with minimum inhibition concentration (MIC) values, ranging from 62.5 to 125 ${\mu}g/ml$. Moreover, the substance effectively suppressed Phytophthora blight of red pepper caused by P. capsici in a pot experiment. To the author's knowledge, this is the first report on the antifungal activity of benzoic acid against phytopathogenic fungi. Benzoic acid and B. subtilis GDYA-1 may contribute to environmental-friendly protect crops from phytopathogenic fungi.
