  • The structure and operating principle of the 2-speed shift reducer were explained, the allowable bending stress value of the material was compared with the analysis result through FM structural analysis program, and the average stress distribution value of von Mises was performed on the gear root atmosphere. The structural safety of the 2-speed planetary gear reducer was verified through FM structural analysis. The natural frequency was calculated by applying the specifications of the planetary gears of the 2-speed gearbox, and the critical speed of resonance was calculated by calculating the natural frequency and the transmission error of the engaged gear pair. As a result of analyzing the critical speed, since it is formed higher than the actual operating speed range, it is considered safe because there is no resonance problem due to the suggested specifications of the planetary gears of the 2-speed shift reduction.

  • This paper estimated the stability of centrifuge as its rotating speed compared with the natural frequency of cylinder and screw by finite element analysis. It shows that the one of exciting causes is the tooth passing frequency of input and output parts by the periodic characteristics of transmission error due to an planetary gear having three stages. Also, it proposed the critical speed of cylinder and screw by the Campbell diagram.

  • Because of the increases in international oil prices and the level of global warming, the automotive industry has much interest in developing green cars with high fuel efficiencies. In addition, researchers in Korea are actively responding to high oil prices and $CO_2$ emission regulations in many ways. One example is, the multi-mode hybrid system, which is being studied to improve its performance. Because a multi-mode hybrid system is able to overcome the weaknesses of a system that uses simple planetary gears, excellent fuel efficiency and driving performances are the key features of the system. This paper analyzes the driving performance of the power-train system of GM-2MT70, which consists of one engine, two electric motors, one simple planetary gear, one double planetary gear, two clutches, and two brakes. The driving performance of the system's steady state is analyzed using performance modeling. The dynamic performance is analyzed using Matlab Simulink.

  • As a method to improve the poor torque capacity on the continuously variable transmission(CVT), power splitted devices(PSD) reducing the power entering into the transmission has been considered. But this kind of PSD requires for the variator to be a large coverage of the speed ratio (CSR) Since the CSRs of the well-known push belt or the toroidal ones are not enough large, the power splitted CVTs (PSCVTs) using them should be made with multiple modes. inevitably adding the do9 clutches and the associated accessories. In this paper a PSCVT with single mode is conceptually designed A new continuously variable unit (CVU) consisting of the paired inner and outer spherical rotors is used. The CVU has large CSR and excellent compactness. As a PSD. a variable bridge (VB) using the Planetary gear units (PGUs) is considered because it has an upper bound on the power ratio. An optimal design to minimize the effective efficiency of the PSCVT is carried out. Through the performance analysis on the designed model, good expectation on the practicability in the heavy vehicle system is shown.

  • A dynamic model of reducer for generating facility of electric pourer having bevel gear pair and planetary gear train is developed by lumped method. The model accounts for the shaft and bearing flexibilities, gyroscopic effects and the force couplings among the transverse and torsion motions due to gearing. Vibration/noise analysis as well as strength of bevel gear pair and planetary gear train are considered. Exciting forces of high reducer for generating facility of electric power areconsidered as the mass unbalance of the rotors, misalignment and a function of gear transmission error. A Campbell diagram, in which the excitation sources caused by the mass unbalance of the rotors, misalignment and the transmitted errors of the gearing are considered, shows that, at the operating speed, there are not critical speed.

  • Automatic transmissions are standard equipment in most automotive vehicles because they provide smooth speed shifting and a compact design with multiple speed ratios. Their structure consists mainly of planetary gear sets as power-transmitting devices and brakes and clutches as shifting devices. Several forward and one reverse speed ratios are achieved by actuating shifting devices to connect gears, input and output shafts, and the transmission case. In the development of a new transmission, kinematic configurations reflecting the transmission concept design are required, and the ability of the new concept design to be assembled without any interference among the connections must be demonstrated. In this study, an assemblability analysis of the kinematic configurations of a Ravigneaux-type automatic transmission was conducted with an assemblable example of an 8-speed Ravigneaux-type automatic transmission.

  • This paper presents a tribological study on the failure cases of automatic transmission components in a passenger car. The automatic transmission system is composed of torque converter, clutch, brake, planetary gear, and valve body controlling oil pressure of an automatic transmission fluid. The most largest influence components in an automatic transmission are a torque converter and clutch plate in which are influenced by a wear and torque converting energy loss. The failure case study of an automatic transmission indicates that the tribological design and maintenance technologies should be considered as a key design concept. This means that the failure and power energy loss come from the friction, wear and a oil leakage of an automatic transmission, which is related to the oil seal and O-ring seal failures.
