The antenna is designed using the IE3D, the simulation tool of the Zeland Inc.. The characteristics of the implemented antenna are measured and analyzed. The antenna is resonated at the 5.25 GHz and its bandwidth is about 580 MHz under the condition of VSWR$\leq$1.5.

  • In this letter, a novel hybrid planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) with a T-shaped slot on the ground plane is proposed. The loop structure formed by the feed line and shorting pin can be operated as a series and shunt inductance for the PIFA and the T-shaped slot antenna, respectively. The PIFA operates at a frequency of 1.75 GHz, while the T-shaped slot on the ground plane operates at 2.4 GHz by the same voltage feeding source. The height of the PIFA is 6.5 mm, and the size of an upper patch is designed to be 30 mm${\times}$16 mm. The measured relative impedance bandwidth of the PIFA and the T-shaped slot are about 12% and 21%, respectively. In addition, good antenna performance was achieved.

  • In this paper, a compact and broadband PIFA(Planar Inverted F Antenna) which has an additive short-circuit plate along the patch length was designed. For more compact PIFA short-circuit Plate along the patch width is reduced and an additive short-circuit plate along the patch length is used to broaden the bandwidth. The effect of an additive-short-circuit plate along the patch length was verified in single band PIFA and also verified in dual-band PIFA. The commercial software, IE3D, was used to design a PIFA and its performance was verified by comparing simulated results with measurement results.

  • This paper proposes an analysis method of performance degradation of antenna due to radio frequency interference between an antenna and adjacent noise sources using active scattering parameters. The radio frequency interference can be analyzed by the measured or simulated scattering parameters and by excited noise sources in the circuit as well. In this paper, a planar inverted-F antenna and a noise source are designed and fabricated to analyze radio frequency interference between the planar inverted-F antenna and noise source. The proposed analysis method uses active scattering parameters, of which verification is experimentally verified, and in simulation as well.

  • This paper presents the design of a novel small and wide band planar inverted F-antenna which simultaneously covers GSM900/GPS/DCS1800/DCS1900/DMB service. The proposed antenna consisting of a main patch with rectangular slit, strip 1 and strip 2, occupied the total volume of.$15\times36\times6mm^3$. A very wide impedance bandwidth characteristic was achieved by optimizing both the distance between the feed line and short strip and the length of rectangular slit on the main patch. The commercial electromagnetic software, CST Microwave Studio, is used to design the structure. The maximum gains at the frequencies of 900, 1575, 1800, 1900, and 2600 MHz were 2.07, 1.07, 1.69 and 0.55, -1.99 dBi, respectively. The overall shape of the radiation patterns is suitable for mobile communication application.

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented a PIFA(Planar Inverted F Antenna) + IFA(Inverted F Antenna) hybrid MIMO(Multi Input Multi Output) antenna for the hexa mobile communication service band. By the simultaneous operation both PIFA and IFA using the coupled feeding structure, we tried for application to modern mobile phones that have large ground size. A PIFA is applied to the ground area, and an IFA is applied to no ground small space on top of the phone. A diagonal fed MIMO antenna is implemented PCB embedded type without antenna carrier component. Implemented antenna on the bare board measured within 3 : 1 for VSWR under hexa mobile communication band as CDMA, GSM900, DCS, KPCS, USPCS, and WCDMA. Measured average gains and efficiencies were -5.19~-3.16 dBi and 30.27~48.26 % for the CDMA, GSM900 band, and -9.50~-5.19 dBi and 11.23~30.28 % for the DCS, KPCS, USPCS, WCDMA band. It's shown that studied antenna can be applied to the antenna for the modern mobile phone.

  • In this paper, a new planar folded UHF band RFID reader antenna is suggested. For the antenna suggested in this paper, 4 PIFA (Planar Inverted F Antenna) micro-strip structures are adopted. The size is $50mm{\times}50mm{\times}6.2mm$. The gain of the antenna is 1.1 dBi, the VSWR is 1.2:1, and the efficiency is 63.3 %. The radiation pattern is designed as upper direction. Identification distance for the RFID tags is improved by minimizing hand effects with properly integrating 4 PIFAs.

  • An inverted-F antenna for wireless local area network (WLAN) is presented. The proposed design is based on the typical dual-band planar inverted-F antennas (PIFA), which have two tunable resonant modes. The low-profile antenna is built by stamping and designed to be mounted on the metal frame of the laptop LCD panel. The obtained antenna can perform in 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and be adopted for other wireless applications. All the measurements are performed in the actual test fixture.

  • In this paper, a low-profile planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) for ultrawideband (UWB) applications is proposed. The antenna consists of a PIFA and a ground plane with a slot. The addition of the slot not only improves the impedance matching of the PIFA but also forms an additional resonance. Therefore, the proposed antenna has a wideband characteristic covering the full UWB frequency range (3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz) and a stable and nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern. The antenna also has a smaller volume and thickness compared to previous UWB PIFAs.

  • This letter presents the design for a low-profile planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) that can be stuck to metallic objects to create a passive radio frequency identification (RFID) tag in the UHF band. The designed PIFA, which uses a dielectric substrate for the antenna, consists of a U-slot patch for size reduction, several shorting pins, and a coplanar waveguide feeding structure to easily integrate with an RFID chip. The impedance bandwidth and maximum gain of the tag antenna are about 0.3% at 914 MHz for a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of less than 2 and 3.6 dBi, respectively. The maximum read range is about 4.5 m as long as the tag antenna is on a metallic object.
