Before the field applications, several basic laboratory test were the characteristics of workability and strength of the concrete containing CSA expansive additive. As a result, high strength concrete using CSA expansive additive show similar workability and compressive to that of plain concrete, the optimum replacement ratio of them to plain concrete were obtained for CSA expansive additive 10%. On the other hand, it can be concluded that the use of CSA component is effective to prevent shrinkage crack reducing concrete using superplasticizer and to achive volume stability of concrete structure.

In this paper the biaxial failure criteria and stress-strain response for plain concrete are studied under uniaxial and biaxial stress(compression-compression, compression-tension, and tension-tension combined stress). The concrete specimens of a square plate type are used for uniaxial and biaxial loading. The experimental data indicate that the strength of concrete under biaxial compression, f2/fl=-l/-1, is 17 percent larger than under uniaxial compression and the poisson's ratio of concrete is 0.1745. On the base of the results, a biaxial failure envelope for plain concrete that the uniaxial strength is 398kgf/$cm^{2}$ are developed. The biaxial failure behaviors for three biaxial loading areas are also plotted respectively. In addition, the characteristics of stress-strain response under biaxial compression are compared and verified with the experimental and analytical results.

An experimental investigation was carried out on the strength and behavior plain and fiber reinforced geopolymer concrete beam column joints and the results were compared with plain and steel fiber reinforced conventional concrete beam column joints. The volume fraction of fibers used was 0.5%. A total of six Geopolymer concrete joints and four conventional concrete joints were cast and tested under reversed cyclic loading to evaluate the performance of the joints. First crack load, ultimate load, energy absorption capacity, energy dissipation capacity stiffness degradation and moment-curvature relation were evaluated from the test results. The comparison of test results revealed that the strength and behavior of plain and fiber reinforced geopolymer concrete beam column joints are marginally better than corresponding conventional concrete beam column joints.

Two different strength types of plain concrete plate specimens (200$\times$200$\times$60mm) were tested under different biaxial load combinations. The specimens were subjected to biaxial combinations covering the three regions of compression-compression, compression-tension, and tension-tension. The loading platens with Teflon pads were used to reduce a confining effect in boundary surface between the concrete specimen and the solid platen. The principal deformations in the specimens were recorded, and the failure modes along with each stress ratio were examined. Based on the strength data, the failure envelops were developed for each type of plain concrete. The biaxial stress-strain responses of concrete plate specimens for three biaxial loading regions were also plotted. The test data indicated that the strength of concrete under biaxial compression ($f_2 / f_1$$_1$=-1/-1) is about 17 percent larger than under uniaxial compression.

This study investigates the engineering properties of the high strength concrete depending on dosages and types of shrinkage reduction agent. Test results showed that for the properties of fresh concrete, the addition of the conventional shrinkage reduction agent (SR) of 0.25% decreased slump flow up to 40% as compared with control concrete, whereas the addition of the emulsified waste cooking oil (EWCO) decreased slump flow of only 5% to 10%. Other properties of fresh concrete with the agents, namely air content, unit weight and setting time, were similar to the results of the control concrete. For the properties of hardened concrete, the compressive strength of the concrete with SR decreased at both early and later stage. However, the compressive strength of the concrete with EWCO was similar to the control concrete at early age, but decreased at later stage (up to 10% reduction at 28 days). For the effect of the agents on autogenous shrinkage of the concretes, the addition of EWCO decreased up to 33%, whereas that of SR decreased up to 29%. Hence, it can be said that the addition of EWCO in high strength concrete has an effect on reducing the autogenous shrinkage as compared with a conventional agent and only slight influence on the slump flow and air content of concrete. By taking all aspects of using EWCO, it is concluded that the optimum content of EWCO will be in the range of between 0.5% and 0.75%.

In this study, the mechanical properties and the neutron shielding rate of concrete with the borosilicate glass and the amorphous boron steel fiber were investigated. The measures of this investigation includes air contents, slump loss, compressive strength, static modulus of elasticity, compressive toughness, flexural strength, flexure toughness and neutron shielding rate. As a result, the neutron shielding rate of the concrete with borosilicate glasses increased even though the compressive strength and flexural strength decreased in comparison with that of plain concrete. Also, the mechanical toughness and the neutron shielding rate of the concrete with amorphous boron steel fiber increased in comparison with that of plain concrete.

To the development on reusing method of the heat-source waste at Daegu Bisan dyeing-complex, this study is aimed to application of it's crushing material (hereafter waste sand) as concrete fine aggregate. The results are as follows; 1. Flow and unit weight of mortar using waste sand as concrete fine aggregate are decreased. 2. At the results of compressive strength test and bending strength test, mortar using waste sand superior to plain mortar within 80% substitute ratio of waste sand. Because increasing rate of compressive strength is similar through increasing age, waste sand performs as filler's function of no-effect with cement only. 3. At the results of concrete application test, unit weight of concrete using waste sand is similar to plain concrete and compressive strength of concrete is superior to plain likewise the results of mortar test

The Alkali-Aggregate Reaction (AAR) may cause a serious failure in the concrete structures. Several researchers in some nations have performed the continuous studies to prevent failure of a concrete structures by the AAR distress as well as the studies to manifest the mechanism. The ASTM Standards to prevent failure by potential AAR aggregates were established in 1950. The KS F2545 and KS F 2546 were established to test the susceptibility of aggregate to potential AAR in 1982. But the researches on the AAR have not been performed affluently in Korea because the distress due to AAR has seldom been reported officially. In this study, the Chemical Method and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) were used to verifying the cause of the pattern crack on the surface and internal crack in the plain concrete pavement. It can be concluded that the distress of a specific site in plain concrete pavement was mainly due to AAR, and the chemical method and SEM may be the effective tools for verifying the cause of AAR distresses.
Bamboo concrete bond behaviour is investigated through pullout test in this work. The bamboo strip to be used as reinforcement inside concrete is first treated with chemical adhesive to make the bamboo surface impermeable. Various surface coatings are explored to understand their water repellant properties. The chemical action at the bamboo concrete interface is studied through different chemical coatings, sand blasting, and steel wire wrapping treatment. Whereas mechanical action at the bamboo concrete interface is studied by developing mechanical interlock. The result of pullout tests revealed a unique combination of surface treatment and grooved bamboo profile. This combination of surface treatment and a grooved bamboo profile together enhances the strength of bond. Performance of a newly developed grooved bamboo strip is verified against equivalent plain rectangular bamboo strip. The test results show that the proposed grooved bamboo reinforcement, when treated, shows highest bond strength compared to treated plain, untreated plain and untreated grooved bamboo reinforcement. Also, it is observed that bond strength is majorly influenced by the type of surface treatment, size and spacing of groove. The changes in bamboo-concrete bond behavior are observed during the experimentation.
The experimental investigations into hooked-end round steel fibers (HSF) effect on the age-dependent strengths of high volume fly ash (HVFA) concrete is studied. The concrete was prepared with class F fly ash used as partial cement replacement varied from 0% to 70% on an equal weight basis. Two percentages of HSF (i.e., 0.5% and 1.5% by volume fraction) of 50 mm length were added in plain, and 50% fly ash concrete mixes. The compressive and flexural tensile strength was determined at 7, 28, 56, and 90 days. The strength results of fly ash concrete mixes with and without steel fibers were compared with the plain concrete strength. The test results indicated that the strength of fly ash concrete is comparable with the plain concrete strength and further increases with an increase in the percentage of steel fibers. The maximum flexure strength of HVFA concrete is found with 0.5% steel fibers. It is concluded that the HVFA concrete with steel fibers of 50 mm length can effectively be used in concrete construction. The analytical models are proposed to predict the age-dependent compressive and flexural tensile strength of HVFA concrete with and without HSF. The compressive and tensile strength of HVFA concrete with HSF can be predicted using these models when the 28-day compressive strength of plain concrete is known. The present study will be helpful in the design and construction of reinforced and pre-stressed concrete structures made with HVFA and HSF.
